I went to work yesterday and my boss had just gotten back from a weeklong trip to Toronto, where our head office is. Turns out that we're one of two theatres in the city getting Fahrenheit 9/11. I'm excited because the film looks really interesting, as are most Michael Moore films. It's also highly anticipated by a lot of people, Canadians and Americans, so we're probably gonna make money off of this.

Just as a matter of curiosity...who else is gonna see Fahrenheit 9/11...and more importantly, WHY? Are you looking for an entertaining time at the movies, an indictment of the Bush White House, or some combination of both?

I'm probably going to see it, just to see it. I'm not a fan of the administration, but Moore has too much of an agenda to be totally believable. He's kind of like the Fox News Channel equivalent of the liberal documentary world.

I've seen good reviews of the movie, as well. I also try to see whatever wins best movie at Cannes each year. Makes me feel cultured and excuses the countless hours of tacky horror and teenage sex comedies that I watch each year.

Pass.

I can't stand Moore's "ambush" style. It just rubs me the wrong way...

Ah yes that Fox news, they are the only ones who put out that propaganda known as NEWS. I always get a chuckle when every other news organization on the planet is considered totally trustworty and unbiased, yet Fox News is Satans News Channel!

Anyhow, I wont see it, simply because I dont want to give Micheal Moore a penny of my money. He's hypocritical and a blow hard, and totally into himself. Sorta like Rush Limbaugh, but on the other end of the spectrum, politics wise.

Fox News is Satan's News Channel. Most of the others are just the News station of Demi-Gorgons and Lesser Demons.

I don't know of any news station that is of any real merit. I guess the closest would be the BBC, but even they have huge flaws. But Fox is just obviously biased. Their logo might as well be Uncle Sam blowing Rush Limbaugh/Dubya/or Dick Cheney.

But as far as F 9/11...I'll see it. But I know Moore is just as bad as any other political extremist. But I tend to find the truth between extreme opposite viewpoints.

As Grimis always likes to quantify it: we have the far left and the far right. Both are too corrupted, too biased, and too shortsighted to do anything worthwhile. And most of the followers are complete sheep.

But somewhere in the middle you can usually find the answer.

I'll see it, because I love his work. I like his ambush style of news reporting, because I am sick and tired of CEOs and other politicains getting fire-side chat time whenever they do an interview. I blame the news organization for not having any balls anymore when it comes to "investigative" reporting with rich people.

Which is so funny cause when the guy making "Michael Moore Hates America" tried the same stupid ambush style thing on Moore he ran away like a coward.

No way am I giving Moore a penny of my money.

Not that I blame him. The guy who gets ambushed never looks good in those interviews, and Moore, being the master of them, probably knew better.

EDIT: Watched the trailer, he was ambushed.

On the other hand, was Moore ambushed? I've been a semi-regular visitor to the website, and I don't remember an ambush on Moore. I remember him calling and talking to his people, but not actually hunting him down and putting him on the spot.

According to a news article I read probably a couple weeks ago he did catch him in person. I'll have to see if I can find it again.

What a novel concept.

"Dad was also a deeply, unabashedly religious man. But he never made the fatal mistake of so many politicians wearing his faith on his sleeve to gain political advantage. Well Evan Coyne Maloney, the brilliant webmaster and commentator of Brain Terminal.net, did kind of get an ambush interview with Michael Moore. Here's the link to the video:

http://www.brain-terminal.com/ video/michael-moore/index.html

Awesome stuff. Maloney should start making political documentaries.

Kinda off-topic, but since Fox openly promotes itself as a conservative alternative to the allegedly "liberally biased" rest of the news media, then I'd say that they are a pretty shitty news outlet. Coming right out and saying that you're biased is a pretty piss-poor way of staying objective. If they are indeed fair and balanced, how many shows with Liberal hosts does Fox have?

Re: Fahrenheit 9/11. I will absolutely go see this movie, and it's going to be a huge hit. I saw an interesting piece on CNN this morning with a critic saying that its box office could be hurt being released so close to Spider-Man 2, but the audiences are going to be different enough that I think Moore's film will be fine. The critic also called it a masterpiece and predicted that it might become the first documentary to get a Best Picture nod at the Oscars. Pretty big words, but who knows.

Well considering from the clip I saw it already has known lies in it, I would hope not. I mean one would think a documentary should be showing people the truth.

(just for the curious, the lie in question I saw is the one about us flying Bin Ladins family out of the country after 9/11 while everyone else was grounded. The truth, verified by many sources, is that they flew themselves out after we questioned them and it was also after all flights were allowed to resume.)

Please show me where, any place, at any time, Fox has called THEMSELVES conservative.
And to throw in the "alleged" in front of Liberally Biased Media is willfully ignorant. All you have to do is watch one of the big three's nightly news and you can see how they go out of thier way to paint the Republican Party in a bad light. Check out this link and see how biased the media is: http://www.mediaresearch.org/ (while obviously a biased source, you cannot deny all the things they say about the media being Liberally Biased, or at the least ANTI conservative)
Oh, and Fox news is a COMMENTARY based network. The actual NEWS they show is pretty much the same INFORMATION that the other networks put out, just without the "spin" that Dan Rather and the others like to throw in.

The day that made it obvious to me, and should have been obvious to the world, was Sept 11, when Dan Rather came on before Bush addressed the Nation, and said "Whether you like him or not, he's still your President" before introducing him. I mean really WTF is that? Did that ever get said about Clinton? Bush#1? Reagan? Carter?
