The Louisville Courier-Journal has a couple of articles in today's paper about Eugene and Nick Dinsmore. There's also a couple of comments from Jim Cornette and Danny Davis about the character and Nick in there.

Nick does a very good job in staying kayfabe in the article. Better than Davis and Cornette do, actually.

That's a great article. I wonder how many people in the WWE PR department had to brainwash the writer of this article into forgetting that Eugene is "special," and instead is just a "loveable lugnut".

"Dinsmore, 28, is a classic example of an overnight success who was anything but. He's been prowling the squared circle for eight years, earning a measure of regional renown as Mr. Wrestling, a fairly straightforward character who'd had a few cups of coffee in pro wrestling's big leagues, the WWE (World Wide Entertainment)."

I have a quick question about the above. That is the second time I have seen something that said WWE stood for World Wide Entertainment. The other time is a promo for a radio station giving away tickets to the Great American Bash. Did something change and I not realize it??

Not that I know of.

When it was the WWWF, it was the World Wide Wrestling Federation. That's now over 20 years ago but I guess possible to be rattling around in someone's brain.

It's part of the company's new "Get The W Out" campaign. Hmmm, if they did, maybe they could donate it to this board?

I guess that happens when you don't normally read the wrestling section and one of the threads has a non-specific title.

At least I didn't start a new thread. :>

Clearly, World Wide Pants has had a greater subliminal impact than previously imagined.

Very nice article. I'd wondered what Dinsmore looks like, when he's not Eugene. :-)

I have a friend that I made a tape for of some old OVW shows. He was telling me about showing them to his girlfriend last week and pointing out that the OVW Champ in the footage was now Eugene. She couldn't wrap her head around the idea. :-)

As to the World Wide Entertainment thing - I didn't even notice it until it was brought up here. That's what they're probablly hopiing for - no one noticing.

Unless they work out some financial deal with the wildlife people (throw them a couple of million for use of the logo on old material, and maybe do a kickback of throwing one of their ads in a can't skip portion of the DVD), its a permanent ban.
