Browsers of the Hockey Forum here on The W have no doubt noticed my numerous Flames threads...ranging from the NHL's All-Star teams and the acquisition of netminder Miikka Kiprusoff. Now, my Flames are ONE (1) win away from the Stanley Cup. Yes, THAT ONE.

I can't wait until Saturday. This city is gonna EXPLODE.

Insane, man. The horns are honking all over Kensington!

If they win it Saturday night, we'll blow the roof off the entire province. Just wait. A Saturday night at home? Forget it!

Within seconds of Saprykin's goal, I heard horns and a round of fireworks down on Edmonton Trail. The horns haven't stopped since.

I cannot wait until Saturday.

To those who say that Quebec doesn't care about the rest of the country...you should have hear the ovation the Flames got when they scored that goal in OT in "Chez Pull" at Rimouski.

GO FLAMES GO. My Habs are gone and I wish that a canadian team wins. I can't wait until saturday.

To add more support to the "Canada is really behind the Flames argument", I was at the Ottawa Renegades CFL exhibition game last night, and the Flames got some great reactions whenever the PA guy announced they were leading during Game 5. What was cooler is someone a few rows in front of me brought a portable TV. Go Flames Go!

Great game last night - hot goaltending - big hits - desperate goals - as a hockey fan though, I have to cheer for Tampa in Game 6 so we can have a Game 7 - preferably a Triple OT game......

I have to disagree. As a hockey fan, I'd be MUCH more interested in seeing the Flames win an OT Game 6 at home, clinching the Cup in front of the home fans.

Wait. You went to a CFL PRESEASON GAME instead of watching the Finals with a Canadian team playing? Can't you get deported for that?

EDIT: Saprykin is a former Seattle Thunderbird. Just wanted to mention it.

Freeway, from that list, how many guys from the Flames have won Cups before? Also, perhaps someone could fill me in on this....have any of the Sutter brothers gotten on that Cup yet? You'd figure the odds are in their favour.

THE QUEST FOR LORD STANLEY'S CUP

Tied for 9th: St. Louis Blues, New York Islanders, Dallas Stars, New Jersey Devils, Nashville Predators, Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks, Ottawa Senators
Tied for 5th:Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Avalanche

Let's see... Martin Gelinas won with the Oilers in 1990, Olwia didn't play in 2000 with the Devils but still got a ring, Nieminen has a ring from the Avalanche, Turek has a ring from the Stars, Reinprecht has a ring from the Avalanche, Stephane Yelle has 2 rings from the Avalanche and Chris Simon has a ring from the Avalanche. Fun fact...the Cup win by the '89 Flames gave each member of the team their first ring.

And the Sutter brothers...

Brent: 1982 & 1983 with the Isles.
Brian: Never.
Darryl: Never.
Duane: 1981, 1982 & 1983 with the Isles.
Rich: Never.
Ron: Never.

I'm rounding up as many of my friends as possible for a Flames Cup victory party.

The Flames winning at home would be the best ending to the Cup Finals since '94.

*AHEM* While I realize that '94 was probably one of the few great Cup Finals in the past decade, that was not the best ending my friend. :)

I'm going to be at a friend's apartment near 17th Ave, so if the right result happens tonight, things should get a little crazy.

I could hardly sleep last night, I'm so anxious!

As I've said, I'll be the drunk guy in red. Keep an eye out for me, Rob.

Now where's that Flames t-shirt...

Actually, some of the original pics on that site (and countless others) are mine after the conclusion of the Detroit series.

Guy Carbonneau out as Habs coach, Gainey back in. Click Here (tsn.ca) It's been an up and down year thus far in Habland. I'm not surprised by the move, but I have to wonder if in any other year that's not a centenial does Carbs get more lee-way.
