So with Benoit's matches announced for his double-dvd, we can now start to predict eddie's double-dvd set to be released in september. Prob. around the 15 match mark set by Benoit's DVD(CRAZY)

Mexico:

-A Match or two from Mexico w/ Art Barr

Japan:

-Maybe his match w/ TAKA from Super J Cup (95?)

ECW:

-2/3 Falls w/ Dean Malenko
-Maybe a match w/ 2 Cold Scorpio

WCW:

-Ladder Match vs. Syxx Pac from Souled Out 97
-U.S. Title vs. Dean Malenko from Uncensored 97
-Cruiserweight Title vs. Kidman from Starrcade 98

WWF/E:

-Vs. Benoit from Raw March 2001
-I-C Title Ladder Match vs. RVD from Raw May 2002
-No DQ vs. Edge from SmackDown Sept. 2002
-WWE Tag Title Semi-Finals - Los Guerreros vs. Benoit/Angle from SmackDown October 2002
-WWE Tag Title - Eddie/Tajiri vs. Team Angle from SmackDown from May 22 2003
-WWE Title vs. Brock Lesnar from No Way Out 2004
-WWE Title vs. Kurt Angle from WrestleMania XX 2004

Amazing if they can do this. And the E has been amazing in putting out dvd's lately. {Wishing for the Bret Hart DVD}

Given that there were lots of clips in the special, the Mysterio match has to be in there for sure. Same with the Malenko ECW match. They might already have rights to the "When Worlds Collide" tag match through the WCW purchase (?). If there's Black Tiger matches on the Benoit set, there'll probably be one or two here as well.

"Mexico"

They own When Worlds Collide via WCW, so I would bet actual fake money on the AAA match being Barr/Guerrero vs. El Hijo Del Santo y Octagon.

"WCW"

The Havoc 97 match with Rey is already on his DVD, I take it. Guerrero/Ohtani from Starrcade 95 is the one people get major Work Rate Boners for isn't it, but I can see why it wouldn't be ideal WCW representation compared to something against, say, DDP.

"WWF/E:
Vs. Benoit from Raw March 2001"

Great call. He really didn't have many memorable matches in the first run, did he. Too banged up. Only other one I'd consider is Eddie/Dean/Saturn from JD2K and that was nothing special.

"-I-C Title Ladder Match vs. RVD from Raw May 2002"
-No DQ vs. Edge from SmackDown Sept. 2002
-WWE Tag Title Semi-Finals - Los Guerreros vs. Benoit/Angle from SmackDown October 2002
-WWE Tag Title - Eddie/Tajiri vs. Team Angle from SmackDown from May 22 2003"

Excellent TV picks, especially the last one since I think it's when he began the literal Lie/Cheat/Steal gimmick in matches.

"-WWE Title vs. Brock Lesnar from No Way Out 2004"
-WWE Title vs. Kurt Angle from WrestleMania XX 2004"

Of course. And maaaaybe the Eddie part of the Smackdown Royal Rumble and/or Eddie/Rey from SD if they need more WWF.

Edit: there was the Benoit match at Vengeance too, and then ... what the f-word was Eddie doing all fall jobbing to Big Show and Bashams.

Quite Frankly (1), much like bonus tracks to the Bob Dylan remasters series, I don't get why the fantastic TV matches from a certain month don't end up on the PPV DVD come on man! Angle/Lesnar iron man for SummerSlam or No Mercy, RVD/Christian for Unforgiven, Benoit/Lesnar for Survivor Series, Michaels/HHH for Armageddon. One assumes recent Raw stuff isn't going on Backlash (Shelton/HHH, 8-man tag) or Badd Blood (Michaels/Benoit, Jericho/Christian cage) either.

Good point. I'm waiting for a Best of RAW and SmackDown of the Brand-Extension Era. You could prob. fill 2 discs of SmackDown from 2002-2003 and do the same with just the amazing matches produced with the past 5 months on RAW.

Outside the WWC match, all the footage from that team is AAA owned, and presuming AAA even keeps their footage, their current arrangement with NWA-TNA probably precludes any other footage from that era.

On the other hand, Juarez (where Eddie and Chavo and other Guerreros started off and ran, was/is an indepedent territory. If they have longer footage of any earlier Eddie matches (like than the clips they showed in the Eddie special) that'd be neat.

If not Eddie, the full version of the Gory Guerrero/El Santo vs Blue Demon/(Black Shadow?) match they kept showing clips of in the special would be a nice historical touch and would help sell a billion DVDs in Mexico (provided anyone buys DVDs in Mexico.

I'd be interested in knowing if AAA owned the footage or if the TV station owned the footage.

For lucha stuff outside AAA:

The Juarez footage that circulates around has alot of Eddie vs. Konan stuff on it, which if they are serious about bringing in Konan, might be worth throwing on (to show history tween two).

My memory is that they were building up to big Konan/Freddy Krueger vs. Eddie/Frey Tormenta match. Damn if WWE can get access to that match, I'd be extatic.

There also is early WIN footage (unimpressive stuff).

La Arena's Ari Romero bio has Ari loosing his hair to Eddie in 87 in El Paso (not sure what fed).

Not sure who owns UWA footage or the WWA footage but hes got stuff there too. Again of the footage that I've seen from these feds nothing of Eddie's that I think really needs to be seen. But if anyone gave me access to more UWA, I wouldn't turn it down.

Was Eddy on the WCW Latino taping that was never aired? WWE could just package that and a ton of us would be thrilled to finally see it (was it Finlay vs. Felino that they ran on that show ? I know Felino was there, Finlay was there and Psicosis was getting the big push but I completely forgot the card and it doesn't show up on the supercard site).

Anyways theres lots of lucha footage out there, needs someone to go through it and find the best.

Outside of lucha and Japan I would expect them to run with the Terry funk vs. Eddy squash match from WCW in 89.

I wonder if they could swing the rights to any of his indy stuff between WWE stints, when he was working on getting his life back together. Maybe something from the FWA in Europe?

Also, they must have ALL of the Lie/Cheat/Steal vignettes. As easter eggs or something.

On 12/31 WWE is going to release a DVD called "History of the Championship"!

(source: pwinsider)

Incredible! Ive always waited for such a thing to be realized, but I honestly never thought it would actually happen!

They need to put Eddie's return match from the car accident on Thunder when the crowd [is it El Paso???] just goes insane for Eddie in his match against Psychosis.

I'd also have Eddie and oh HEYMAN and hey PAUL LONDON because it's not like he's doing anything other than job do alternate commentary of Eddie's first match in the WWE against Billy Gunn.

There's gotta be a match out there with MONDO CHAVO CHAVITO HECTOR and EDDIE and was it not in one of the DVDVRs lemme see

[aw crap no EDDIE - DVDVR 30]

Damien Steele/Mikey Henderson/Samoa Joe vs. Chavo Guerrero, Jr./Chavo Guerrero, Sr./Mando Guerrero
AH YEAH! This is what we all wanted to see. (This was actually supposed to be Chuck Palumbo and Sean O'Haire instead of Chavo, Sr. and Mando - Thank God for small miracles). Come on, Chavo, Sr. and Mando are what like 400 years old and they can still go. (I would have liked to seen Hector in this puppy too). Of course, once everyone gets past the Pepe jokes and get onto the wrestling. Chavo, Jr. was starting to get back to actual wrestling during the last days of Turner and now he gets to get all the way back to form while working these Indy dates. Steele needs to go back to wearing the fanny pack and cutting promos because he aint bringing the goodness. To be fair. that is probably due to the fact that this is Steeles first match back from injury. Or, it could just be that Steele aint that good. (Phil awaits the outrage from Damien Steele fanboys. And from confused Damien Kane fans.) Chavo, Sr. gets worked over for a good part of the match, which surprises me because I thought Junior would be working the whole match. What am I talking about? This is the Guerreros. They will all be wrestling 40 years after their deaths. And Mando isnt afraid to work stiff in this match. HEY NOW! They do the star and FUCK! Triple tope. What the hell where Senior and Mando thinking about? Another poor ending as Steele punks out the ref to get his team disqualified that after a really bad Brainbuster from Chavo. Still, I loves me some old lucha.

They need a million promos, too, like
- the Radicals entrance
- Eddie telling WCW he quits
- Eddie vs. Brock
- all the LIE CHEAT STEAL promos
- anything Gringos Locos related

With Eddie, we need as many skits as possible on the DVD. I'd like to see the "prom date" material where he's accompanied by Chyna and that car and Eddie wrestled in the bowtie. Eddie's matwork is understood to be great, but his acting really shines. I'd like to see that given due attention. The feud with Eric Bischoff. The outburst at Chyna in the lockerroom. The build-up to the hair match against Chavo. The promo Eddie cut after losing both the WWE U.S. and tag belts ("You're right, homes, I DO suck!").

OK, we can leave off the bar standoff with Austin. That was horrible.

I'd rather see the bar stuff with Austin...he gets the girls at his table Zimas while he drinks the bud, than have to sit through any of the Chyna stuff with Eddy earning his GED.

It just HAS to have Eddie trying to talk his way into the Playboy Mansion (when Chyna was in Playboy). I don't even remember what he said, but I know it was funny.

My memories of the Eddy-Austin bar skits is this: They're improvising badly to kill time, and the bar crowd watching it live is bored and coached. When I saw it, it was like watching middle-schoolers perform Waiting For Godot in an Applebee's. Not the finest hour for anyone involved.

If they wanted to do something really neat, they could show Eddy being squashed by Terry Funk in the NWA in 89.

Another great Eddie moment I want to see was i WCW when he claimed that one of the luchas stole his wallet or something like that, but he couldn't ID who it was unless they took off their masks, so the security guards lined up all the luchas and made them take off their masks. Then as Eddie went from wrestler to wrestler he had some kind of remark like "hey man, I didn't know you were (insert wrestler's name)! How you doin?", "man, put this mask back on!", and "what happen to your face, were you in a fire?"
