Wow (...again!) - Thatīs really strong! A MUST buy!
Only one sad thing: No Jericho match, but maybe (hopefully) Y2J will get his own DVD very soon!
Holy shit, that kicks total ass. The WWE keeps topping themselves in the DVD department.
First I was amazed by the Shawn Michaels DVD because it deviated from their bland biographies and clipfests. In retrospect, that was absolutely nothing, because then came the Ric Flair collection which is the very pinnacle of DVD brilliance. The Foley collection continued the streak of good packages. But this, for me, does it. What an awesome DVD from top-to-bottom.
Right off the bat, I salivated for the two Bret and Angle matches. The Regal match is something I've heard great things about, and the WM main event is one of my favorite matches of all-time. I like the Guerrero, Booker, Sullivan WCW picks, and I'm even happy to see the Vicious match on because it represented to me that Benoit was for real and WCW was in the right direction with pushing fresh guys. Little did I know what would happen in the next 24 hrs.
All of this, not to mention, I've never even seen any of the ECW or Japanese matches listed, and with guys like Liger, Sabu, and Sasuke, you know it will entertain.
One question, though. How do the stories and the matches integrate? Is the one story the main and separate feature while all of the matches are extras, or do the stories and matches combine like say, the Foley DVD?
The alt. commentary is a frickin' great idea. I don't know if it has been done before as I'm yet to get the latest WWE DVDS but man, that just makes this DVD seem that much better. I can't wait to hear Tazz and Cole calling a Liger match!

Yaaaay! Unlike others, I have only a morbid curiosity in hearing Cole and Tazz call these matches.
Chris Benoit vs. Al Snow ECW Double Tables (04.02.95)
Chris Benoit vs. Eddie Guerrero WCW Monday Nitro (16.10.95)
Chris Benoit vs. Bret Hart Owen Hart Tribute Match, WCW Monday Nitro (04.10.99)
Chris Benoit vs. William Regal Brian Pillman Tribute Show, (26.05.00)
Yeah baby yeah baby yeah. The Snow and Regal matches are surprising to me. No Jericho match from their fabled 2000 rivalry? How odd. I'm also surprised at no Rock/Benoit from Fully Loaded, and no Dallas ten-man, but really there's nothing to complain about with this list.
Originally posted by MARTYEWRI'm amazed that, on a WWE DVD, there's a tally of: - 3 Japan matches - 6 WCW matches - 2 ECW matches - 3 WWE matches - 1 Pillman show match
6-3 in favour of WCW matches on a WWE DVD! I'm going to check outside to see if pigs do fly!
Awesome DVD!
Most of his big WWE matches are already on DVD. That's the main reason.
I cannot wait for this DVD. I can't believe that they put the Regal match on there. Its about time people get exposed to the match that got Regal his job back in the WWF.

This looks really good, but are none of the Austin matches on it? Not even the RAW tag title match? Those were some of the high points of his WWE career.
It's good that they at least have something as recent as the WMXX match, though.

Yeah, but I OWN that match already, but I can understand why it's there as the culmination to the "story" that's being told. Everything else I don't own, so the WWE gets another chunk of my entertainment fund.
Also, audio commentary by Dean "The Velvet Fog" Malenko? Hell, that's my $20 right THERE
Oh my lord. That's got to be the greatest fuckin' DVD I've ever seen. Kudos to WWE for going all out with their DVD releases, lately. Ever since that Shawn Michaels DVD, it's like a spark has been lit under them.
GREAT looking DVD. I'm gonna' be camping outside of Suncoast the night before this baby is released.
The answer to WWE's financial problems...
Never 'Wiener of the Day', and is actually quite bitter about it.
Originally posted by Spaceman SpiffNice matches, a definite buy. Would have liked for Benoit/Malenko vs. Raven/Saturn form Road Wild (I think) to be on there, though.
Spring Stampede, I think you're thinking of (if it's the one where Benoit damn near breaks his nose with the swandive onto the chair for the endgame). LOVED that match. And this DVD set looks AMAZING.
Caped Boy: Excuse me, ladies. You may remember me as the guy who came to dinner a few weeks ago with underwear on my head. My name is Keith Stat from Milbourne, New Jersey. State bird, the mosquito. And as you may have heard I am recently a crowned class B dungeon-master. So if any of you would like to play D&D today, please speak now or forever hold your peace. [He chuckles, and there is an awkward silence at the table.] Caped Boy: Anyone? Alexa! [Alexa gives him a withering glare.] Caped Boy: Maybe you would like to join in? We do need a druid, and you have definitely cast a level 5 charm spell on me. Alexa: In your dreams, douche-bag! Caped Boy: Douche-bags are hygienic products, I take that as a compliment. Thank you. [Keith walks off] Alexa: Ewww!
This DVD will rule and I must have it. I'd really like to hear Benoit talk about these matches as I really dug hearing Foley commentate on his matches with Sabu and Sting.
I'm stoked to see Benoit/Regal from PILLMAN on this.
Tan-veer Rah-kweeb I'm too tired and old to get banned.
For any ECW fans out there, think what this means for that ECW compilation DVD that's coming out in the fall! They likely won't skimp out on that one if they're paying this much respect to ECW and WCW footage and matches on DVDs like this.
That is something else. The Austin match from Edmonton was begging to be there more than anything else but so be it. It's superb. Bring on Guerrero. And Jericho (he's been waiting to put TLC3 on DVD forever). And Angle (uncut iron man)

At the very least it should be in the place of where the Sid match is, which they can just gloss over in the History of Benoit educational film. But I don't really need to see the whole match again.
I realize what is in terms of the story they're telling, but there's better matches to be had and besides, I find it funny they'd make a bonus feature out of a match that in WCW canon was erased from history 24 hours later for obvious reasons.
I would have probably preferred them going with one of the Saturday Night matches against Guerrero from '95, but that's splitting hairs. As for greatest DVD, it will take an incredible amount to surpass the Flair DVD. On the Saturn/Raven vs. Malenko/Benoit match, technically they could put that on the Horsemen DVD.
Considering Yogi Bear doesn't wake up until noon, yet gets every picnic basket that is in Jellystone Park, wouldn't it behoove Ranger Smith to advise those entering the park to consume the contents of said picnic baskets before noon?
Oh great, I just bought the King of the Ring DVD last night and now this baby comes up...looks like im saving up again. I guess we can thank our panda loving friends for the limit of WWE matches.
