Well, somehow I managed to come home early from work last night to see the show live. A few observations:

*Why should we be shocked about Eugene's favorite wrestler? Remember the water bottle? By the way, Phantom's idea of a Eugene/HHH feud sounds pretty damn sweet to me...until the WWE tries it and goes too far as usual. PROVE ME WRONG, VINCE!!

*I know it's storyline stuff, but no woman in their right mind should ever answer a question they haven't even been asked. With that said, the question was obviously, "Wanna be my date for the prom? I'll pay for the hearse...uh, limo"

*Heel Trish IS fun. She sure as hell wasn't this good in her first heel run. Glad you haven't lost it in the ring, Trish. Got kinda worried there.

*Todd Grisham is even more fruity than Cole, and I swear that had to be scientifically impossible.

*Judging from what The Rock said, HHH found a few strudels from the looks of him. As far as I go, Randy and Rene's are pretty good. Sorry, couldn't help it. See you in November, Rocky.

*Speaking of Randy, I actually blew off the racist stuff. Doesn't faze me at all. Good promo from him, and I actually don't want him to lose the IC title now. Oh, and SD blows without the WGTT, with all respect to Rico.

*Battle Royal-Okay, the Kane thing was a surprise to me, and the last several minutes were fun.

Pretty good Raw last night, though not quite as good as previous weeks to me. And HHH is still chubby. Oh well, more of him to love... ::sigh::

After a quarter of a century on this planet, there's three things I know for sure...
1)Ain't nothing like a Dirty Pair marathon on New Year's Eve.
2)I'd make a fine Mrs. HHH II.
3) I'd make an acceptable Mrs. Orton.
1400 reasons to luv me!

In our house, when Kane cuddled Lita and whispered in her ear, one of us said "It puts the lotion in the basket" and the other said "Does the phrase 'balloon-knot' mean anything to you?" I'm not sure which I liked better.

I'm not ashamed to say that I tuned in for Eugene and Regal last night, and I'll throw a small "I told you so" at the people who claimed a few weeks ago that a retard gimmick meant the end of Western civilization. Not that they don't have ample room to screw this up, and they can only ride it for so long, but it's entertaining as hell so far, mostly because Dinsmore seems to be having a ton of fun doing the gimmick. Great mannerisms, and the usual top-notch facial expressions and acting from Regal.

I thought she did know what the question was. It's just that we don't. Otherwise how would she know that 'yes' was the right answer? If the old lump was merely asking 'Does my bum look big in this?' then an answer in the affirmitive could have resulted in untold violence being inflicted upon Lita. Not to mention the mental trauma with which poor Kane would be lumbered.

Eugene for IC Champ, and Shelton for World Title!

Anyhow, not only did Y2J land hard and akward (I thought I spotted the raised wrist crossing motion from the ref) but the elimination of both Rhyno and Hurricane looked botched and painfull as well.

Perhaps when Orton is saying "You People" he is talking about everybody NOT in Evolution.

Much more leg room in the back of a hearse than in a limo. Kane is a visionary.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but I think Eugene's new music was from his training vignette two weeks ago.

In another thread, Kane was predicted to be the battle royal winner. Who predicted it and for what reasons? Of the final five, I could've seen anyone winning except Kane, who already has his stuff w/Lita & Hardy. Jericho's mentioned the title, Edge could win causing a partner vs. partner match, Orton or Benjamin could win causing retaliation from HHH. I personally would've wanted Orton or Benjamin vs. HHH to finish the battle royal.

Speaking of Benjamin, did anyone else think he was emulating Sting when he was fighting off HHH and Orton? Punch to one, chop/back elbow to the other? He already admitted to using the Stinger Splash.

He's always the "threat", but he doesn't mind doing the job, either. Having Kane win the battle royal does all kinds of things. Helps make Kane look strong, like he should look. Plus, it gets him in all kinds of people's faces. HHH for one. Benoit for another. Batista for a third. Like a true monster, he's neither face nor heel. He's a threat to all. What this does is add one more worker to the list of opponents Benoit can defend against in high-profile matches... it lengthens Benoit's reign, and I think that's a good thing.

Here's a theory. Kane makes sense to me too. For many reasons. A) Benoit needs a heel to wrestle at the ppv B) Benoit needs a high profile opponent, but not big enough to overshadow the HHH/HBK match. C) The winner isn't going to be Christian because he's not in there, it won't be Jericho, that's better served for SUmmerslam, it's not going to be Orton or Shelton, they'll be in the IC title match, Triple H will be in the World Title, that leaves Kane.

However, it is very strange that the final two came down to two heels. i can't remember that EVER happening. I don't think they're trying to turn Kane face either. And the Jericho elimination did look akward and it did look like he was trying to land on the steel steps. So maybe Jericho wasn't supposed to be eliminated, but wasn't supposed to win either. Maybe it was going to come down to Jericho and Kane with Kane winning.

While we're on the topic of Jericho, what do they do with him at Bad Blood?? They've already got (probably) HHH vs. HBK, Benoit vs. Kane, Orton vs. Shelton (or Edge again).

That leaves Jericho and Edge who are both faces without any heels on their level.

Zed was calling Nash "Poochie" back in the day. He was just pointing that out without, you know, just saying that.

EDIT: The 1998 Year In Quotes lists this excerpt from the 12/7/98 Nitro, but I can't find it in that recap anywhere, so the Year In Quotes might have the wrong show:

Let Us Take You Back to Moments Ago. Nash is annoyed, Taylor says there's a match tonight, Nash guarantees the match won't happen and Goldberg better stay focused on him. Goldberg says that not a second goes by that he doesn't DREAM of knocking his ass to the mat. Hey, he said "ass" again! Remember Homer's idea to make Itchy & Scratchy better? "When Poochie isn't on the screen, the other characters should be sad, look around, and say 'Where's Poochie?'" KEVIN NASH IS POOCHIE!

So you're about five-and-a-half years late with the Poochie reference.

-Trish vs. Lita- Hehe Trish says boo to Lita. Lita response with her first move, a feather like punch as Trish sells it hard. I know everyone has their weaknesses, some more then others, one of Lita's big one is punching, instead of improve or substitute, she highlights it in her repertoire, Trish did a good job in selling it throughout the match. I thought Trish was really good in there, nice flying clothesline & neckbreaker, you can tell she was REALLY trying to play up her heel mannerisms, Trish controlled the pace well & actually led Lita to what I thought was a decent 6-minute match. Lita was alright out in there, nice Russian legsweep into a pin combo. But Lita problem is like usual her basics were weak & her selling (lack there of) also doesn't help much... Kane on screen, Trish gets the every wrestlers favorite pin the rollup & runs off with the victory. Greasy Kane wants some answers from Lita.

-Orton/Benjamin interview- Haha Doc, I noticed that Orton repeating himself but didn't really mind, just a little quirk of his. I thought he did a decent job. Benjamin walks out & says he has beaten HHH so how great can he really be? Orton calls Benjamin is all luck, Benjamin quotes the wise words of Miss Stratus saying something about "Preparedness and opportunity". Orton labels Benjamin "you people" which gets a ooh from the crowd. Benjamin says "Since you won't put up, try getting up", hey that's a nice one. Benjamin starts slugging away as Flair runs out and gets Orton out of there... Evolution backstage talking but I'm way to distracted by the very cool Bob Marley mural.

-Kane vs. Val- Jim Ross says this was a rematch for the week before that didn't take place (ummm J.R it was Val/ Matt match that was set up). Kane squashes Val who's reminds us that he's Livin' Large in the back of his tights.... Matt Hardy runs in, attacks Kane to the outside. Matt goes to get a chair but first does a taunts "V-Oneuaaah"(what are you doing Matt! You are battling a dangerous monster who threatening your girl and in this battle you are taking time to give out your lame taunts, what a fool). I'm cheering for Kane now and good news for me he kicks Matt in the head and does many variations of chokes, like the slams, and cable cord and finally a cool looking chair/choke move as J.R says "Matt Hardy career is vanishing before our eyes"(Yep). Lita FINALLY comes out and saves Matt(that Matt Hardy, what a man!) says "Yes". I guess that's the right answer, it could have been no.

-Benoit/Edge vs. Orton/Batista- Lilian takes a big deep breath & introduces the declaration of Benoit's entrance. Match was slow in the 1st half, we take a break... Someone gave a wake up call during the ads, cause the 2nd half is great. Edge gets beaten down by both heels but avoids Orton dropkick, instead of going to tag he went for a catapult to the corner(uh oh that's going to cost him). Both man battling as Edge gets the tag(I guess it didn't). Benoit gets physical with young Orton. Sharpshooter, Batista breaks it up, Edge spears Orton into Batista, babyface double clothesline on Orton but Batista hits a solo clothesline on the babyfaces. Ref Bump. Germans on Orton(Love Orton desperately trying to grab the ref's pants hoping to stop the German o'round). Benoit headbutt to the title, that's it, NO it's not! Excitement ensues, RKO reverse into a Crossface & tap out! That was awesome

-Eugene/Coach/Rock interview- Regal gives a speech to Eugene backstage about standing up for yourself(Wonder if Regal is speaking to himself, hmm deep LoL). Caoch replaces the guy who host Experience with Ivory. Ha Coach plays Phil Collins, as Eugene plays Timmy as they re-enact South Park "People don't like you, they are laughing at you Timmy" WTF a "Life Goes On" reference can you be anymore obscure, did anyone even get that LoL. Felt bad for Eugene, Coach was such a jerk. someone's gotta come out. Regal, Stacy, come on someone... THE ROCK! THE HELL!! I marked like a b*tch! Popcorn Fart, not so funny. "Screw the Coach" as the fans pick it up immediately without Rock even expecting it, Funny! Eugene fav. wrestler is H3, figures, better reasoning them most HHH mark LoL. Raw/SD dodgeball special would be ALOT of fun to watch! Cade knocks down Rock WTH, but Team windbreaker prevail & happiness ensues!

-Battle Royal- Lilian in the ring with alot of dudes. Christian isn't in it, THERE GOES MY PICK. Why was his pic up on WWE.com preview & during the entire show. The Vegas sharks aren't going to be happy with THAT. What an absurd atomic drop by H3, he grabbed Benjamin from the tea bag. Senile Flair goes for the figure4 during the BattleRoyal as JR questions it LoL. Was Y2J suppose to stay on the steps? Kane chokeslam-a-thon was nice, the staredown with Batista was cool! Batista leg look like it could have buckled under him. Edge Spear-a-thong but eliminates himself with his momentum. Springboard bodypress by Benj... Great Battle Royal, but the ending is crap. When the winner doesn't even get the last elimination, that's just stupid. HHH should not have been last one in there with a HBK run in. The VORTEX OF DOOM once again shows up & swallows the Battle Royal WINNER as they focus on HHH & HBK. Aaa annoying.

-OtherStuff- Not much backstage stuff, Bischoff tells Regal that he's about to set up an interview to embarrass Eugene... SD rebound or whatever it's called focused on JBL vs. Eddie including PPV stills that made it seem like JBL won.

-Line of the Night: Rock "You know what, screw the Coach"
-Sign of the Night: "Lita loves Kane"
-3Stars of the Night: 1)Coach. 2)Rock. 3)Orton. - I could put Eugene or Benoit in there as well.

The last hour of Raw was amazing. Great tag title match. The Rock surprise made me mark so much. I'm usually not a fan of BattleRoyals but this one was one of the best. There was so many nice little spot/moments in it, but I do think HBK should have ran in during the Final5 eliminating H3(leaving an Evo member to go for the title himself) so you'd put some focus on the actual Battle Royal winner. 1st hour was decent. Trish/Lita was better then expected. Orton/Benjamin interview was decent. Hate to say but Hardy is 1 of those guys that annoy me so seeing Kane go evil on him wasn't so bad... Emma, thanks again for the great Live Report. Haha Lilian being thrown in the ring & simply runs out the other side, too cute. I notice her style too, she dresses very cool. Also notice you talked about during the intro for the ME as Kane came in everyone went to the far side behind Lilian as she walks back as well.

smark/net attack wienerville advisory stays at BLUE alert - Guarded (With Benoit & Eddie being World & WWE champions you'd expect all's be right but couldn't do it due to Trish/Y2J character switches & whats the deal with JBL PPV main event)- 5/6

The advertising in Columbus, OH for a week or two has been HHH v. Shawn on top in a hell in a cell match and Benoit v. Kane for the title.

I actually think Jericho was eliminated when he was supposed to land on the steps and come back in, and the only ad-libbing done was for Shelton to stay as the last babyface instead of Jericho. In no way do I think Chris Jericho was supposed to win and then he fell out and they had Kane win instead. I did notice Mike Chioda (I think it was) conferencing with HHH and Shelton, so I'd assume that was all that came of it. But I would assume Jericho was supposed to be the last face in the match.

Orton/Benjamin promo was pretty brutal, not even for the questionable message, but just for the delivery and cheesy ass acting of both of those guys. Orton with his DELIVERY! and FACIAL EXPRESSIONS! never fail to amuse me, at the least. "I'm cocky," which will then be followed by, "Oh, that's a good point - I'm ... mad ... kind of"

I am intrigued by them working a program and a long-ish PPV match with each other, though.

I think the best part of the battle royal was BATISTA standing up like a man and not takin no guff from no Kane. It got a better reaction than I'd have expected a Batista/Kane faceoff to get too.

Renegade Raine says:

Trish/Lita-Trish's pants were COOL. If there's one thing Kane's good at, it's getting a chuckle or two out of me...and I'm not sure if that's a good thing.

Kane coming out for his match confused me at first, because it seemed strange that they would start the Battle Royal then. I like Matt Hardy, I really do, but this good guy stuff makes him look like a pussy, even to the point where I was cheering for Kane to beat the crap out of him (which he did). Caitlin, the middle sister, asks me what the question is. My guess is "Will you please, for the love of god, learn to wrestle halfways decent?". Kane, acting like a creepy bastard, gets more chuckles from me.

I marked out for the fire extinguisher. I really did. Regal continues to be the best in facial expressions.

I like Rob Zombie, but "Never Gonna Stop" was a bad, bad song. I'm glad he changed it. A bit of a side note, but I downloaded the Evolution Titantron video...I never realized just how hilarious it was. The helicopter part in the beginning is already weird, but then everyone goes to a nightclub and makes out with a bunch of chicks...even Flair! Batista must be pissed that he got left out though. Right, about the match. Well, I was cleaning my room (for the first time in about six months), so I didn't see most of it. *shrugs*

Holy crap...Eugene is OVER~!, even before The Rock came along. Even I felt bad when Coach was terrorizing him...and I'm the one who thinks Kane torturing people is hilarious. Rock comes out and judging just from how it sounded on my TV, the cheers must have been deafening live. Caitlin comments that Rock and Eugene make a good pair, and I agree. When Rock says he's the only one who understands the people, judging from how he can get them to chant ANYTHING, I think he may be right.

Finally, the Battle Royal. What? No one got a bag with food, water, a compass, map, flash light, and a random weapon?! Apparently Matt Hardy and Christian are the Tendo and uh...that other chick that got killed off before her.

Jericho, I've loved you for four years, but grow the hair back and PLEASE do something interesting. I REALLY don't want to bump him from his number one spot of four years, but the WWE has done NOTHING to make me care about him, not that it's entirely his fault.

Dammit, I must have blinked when Nitro was on, but from what I did see (for one second), he looked kawaii as usual.

Damn, Hurricane's landing looked PAINFUL. I marked out for Kane no-selling H's facebuster as well. I liked the part where Kane chokeslammed everyone, then slowly turned to the other monster in the match, Batista, who had the "Ha, go ahead and try!" look on his face. Apparently, the crowd liked it as well. I agree with everyone who thinks the ending was stupid, but it should be interesting to see how they build up the Benoit/Kane match.

We now present a taped delay of Random Raw Thoughts:

- I dunno, J.R., I thought Trish's prank on Lita last week was pretty funny (even if the acting was bad)

- Did they lock Kane in a sauna backstage? Why is his face so wet?

- "The opportunity has just given you a chance..." What the hell is Benjamin talking about?

- Did they just accidentally show a clip of Batista VS. Tajiri from last week?

- Eugene's playing with... bowling pins? Why are there bowling pins backstage?

- I think Kane finally proved that the way to Lita's heart is through Matt Hardy's crushed windpipe

- Did somebody tell Batista that he's in a Diva's photo shoot? Why is he posing on the ramp like that?

- Eugene's doofus music = good. Eugene's Eye of the Tiger ripoff music = bad.

- Coach is to A-Team as Spike Dudley is to WWE Champion

- I wasn't not chanting popcorn fart at home

- No Christian? No Matt Hardy! That means there's two open spots! ...that apparantly aren't going to be filled

- I'm glad Kane won, but why does Shawn have to keep ruining matches? That's two weeks in a row, Shawny Boy. Don't make it three. Yes, I am idly threatening Shawn Michaels over the internet.

I think Jericho was suppose to win, did you notice how JR nor the king said anything about Kane winning and it was all Michaels just cost the game the chance to go to Bad Blood. Next week on Raw I can see Bischoff saying that the Battle Royal didnt count due to Michaels interferance.

Seriously, no. I mean, they've already been advertising Kane vs. Benoit for two weeks. Plans can change, sure, but how often do plans change and then the sweet hand of fate changes them right back to the original intended plan, just by coincidence. Come on now.

I would still guess that Jericho lost his footing on the stairs and fell out too soon though.
