Can we please have only one racist angle running on one show. Its bad enough, LBJ is running I hate Mexicans, now Orton hating on the brothers. Screw that, I say drop it, its not edgy anymore.

As for the show, Rock's return completed, the best week of my life, as I got hitched this week to my beautiful girl and had a hell of a good time with friends and family. It does make sense that Rock come out, because they are obviously saving the Regal turn for Bad Blood. Eugene is over and damn, I do like it.

That tag match was awesome and proving Benoit is the real thing. I missed most of the battle royal, but caught the spoilers. I like Kane getting a shot, but his angle with Lita/Matt has really bogged him down instead of boosting him up. All in all, another high praise for Raw.

The ending of the Battle Royale (HHH being screwed by Michaels) was obvious from last week going forward. Nothing else about it was, though. Shelton Benjamin was the star of the match.

So did they book Kane to win halfway through the show after realizing the angle with Lita and Hardy is stupid? Do we come back next week to find Lita freaked out with Matt still not knowing what the question was, and Kane now completely out of the angle? Will we find out Victor was behind this all along? (WHAT? Every great soap opera has a “Victor”.)

As always, The Rock is gold tonight. I’m sad that Eugene already has new music, though. Last week’s music was awesome.

Orton’s promo with Benjamin at times sounded like he was trying to channel Foley, vocal-tone wise. He’s miles away from even being close to that level, but he’s improving. I always felt his feud with Foley was done so Foley could teach him some things.

Hey! Trish used Christian’s “foot on the ropes” finisher! They ARE in love after all.

Was the camera crew instructed to get as many shots down Lita’s cleavage as possible?

Geez, JR…I don’t think Waffle House steaks are all THAT tough.

Ever since Rock has been doing these random appearances he has gotten pretty shotty on the microphone. Each time he has brought out a bad one time only catch phrase... eh at least this kind of served a purpose (getting Eugene over).

I honestly think that the Rock's bits are getting a little too goofy and he seems to have them all scripted now where before he seemed to do a lot of stuff off the cuff.

Did anyone else think Jericho's elimination looked like a screw up? I get the feeling he was supposed to land squarely on the steps and pop back into the ring. It was also about this time that Kane started chokeslamming everything in sight and nearly turning face for doing so. The flow of the match just seemed off to me after this.

bigtotoro, i agree that the chokeslams kind of turned kane face, as well as the fact that it was he and trips alone at the end had the fans behind him. Not to mention the fact that kane has always been so over. I think that come Bad Blood, the fans are going to have a hard time choosing who to cheer for.

Okay, I'm all for getting Orton over. But, why have Orton do an interview where says how great Triple H is? It reminds me of the Poochie episode from the Simpsons.

When Poochie/HHH isn't on screen, everyone else should ask, "Hey? Where's Poochie/HHH?"

And no Molly makes baby Jesus cry. Okay, it makes me cry.

A thought: maybe Jericho was originally booked to win.

If that elimination wasn't supposed to have happened, they would have had to wait for direction from the back -- which would warrant the decision for Kane to take a couple minutes and chokeslam everybody in sight. They needed time to figure out who exactly was supposed to win now.

That Kane-Batista showdown sure had the crowd interested, though, which is a heartening sign. Yay for big-man matchups worth caring about!

And as interesting as the swastika was, "RETARD STRENGTH" definitely deserved the greater amount of screen time that it received.

And Calgary wins game five! Man, nobody's winning a home game this series from the looks of things. Hmm? Oh, sorry. I'd been switching back and forth between RAW and hockey, so I'm kind of scattered.

The opening bars of Eugene's new music kind of reminded me of Animotion's Obsession. Kind of. James A. Johnston loves doing that to me, where his music will just kind of sound like other music but not quite enough to warrant comparison. He's good at what he does, that guy.

Orton made up for lost interview time tonight by going to town with his guy who repeats himself/says everything twice gimmick. He opened up with "Now...now...If you haven't noticed! If you haven't noticed!" Then gave us a little "and tonight...and tonight!" He worked some "No! No! No!" action in there to go with the "and on and on and on" business. Then I believe he may have closed the solo part of the interview with "There's no stopping Evolution! There's no stopping Evolution!"

When Benjamin joined him, he managed to get "Easy, Shelton! Easy, easy, easy!" in there, which seemed like a fine place to leave things. But then he goes above and beyond the call of duty when they go to him in the back with the rest of Evolution, where he manages to get in some bonus "I'm OK! I'm OK!" and "I'm gonna do it on my own terms! I'm gonna do it on my own terms!" into the mix. True dedication, there.

I'd love to see that. And you've gotta admit, it's so easy to set up. Once Eugene sees that his hero is a complete dick... god, it books itself! Cheap heel heat for HHH, for completely shattering a guy whose only crime was to like him, and could actually complete Eugene's progression as "the new Mankind."

Assuming, of course, that Eugene can continue to hold up his end in the ring.

Great show...

Lita actually looked pretty decent in the ring tonight... Trish worked well as a heel.

Randy/Shelton interview... Meh... They both need to brush up a little more on the mic... it seemed to drudge on.

Edge/Benoit VS Orton/Bautista was a decent little match. Glad that they're finally giving Naitch a little break.

Venus/Kane... I was surprised at the amount of Offense Val got in... I guess they have to remove the "unstoppable monster" stigma if he's going to have an intersting match with Benoit.

Poor Eugene... Ahhh... I marked out like a fool when I heard the Rock's music go off. I'm glad I didn't see any of the spoilers... It's always nice to be pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the in-ring schtick... and got a kick out of Lilian loving the strudel. Fun fun segment.

The Battle Royale was nice... good way of putting Shelton Over... I loved the Chokeslam fest... I also loved how the Crowd got hot for the Bautista/Kane staredown... they could probably put on a good power match with each other...

Anyhows, an enjoyable RAW. Good stuff.

Not sure we were watching the same match. I thought her offense looked terribly weak tonight. Terrible punches. She looks like she's punching air. (I know she actually is punching air, but it's not supposed to look like she is!)

The rest of the show was amazing.

I'm not so sure about Jericho being eliminated by mistake, then the back ad libbing the Kane win. Kane actually makes sense to me. Kane will look like a threat to Benoit, because that's his role. He's always the "threat", but he doesn't mind doing the job, either. Having Kane win the battle royal does all kinds of things. Helps make Kane look strong, like he should look. Plus, it gets him in all kinds of people's faces. HHH for one. Benoit for another. Batista for a third. Like a true monster, he's neither face nor heel. He's a threat to all. What this does is add one more worker to the list of opponents Benoit can defend against in high-profile matches... it lengthens Benoit's reign, and I think that's a good thing.

Also, this will help branch him away from whatever bride-of-Kane angle he's working with Winona and Keanu (I mean Lita and Matt...though you wouldn't know it by their acting skills). Kane made some enemies tonight, and could provide him with some interesting programs in the near future.

And what can I say about Eugene other than I had a smile on my face during that whole piece. The Rock was a huge surprise! The fans must have exploded. Eugene is over, and I think Dinsmore is doing a capable and compassionate job of playing a very difficult character. Regal is beautiful in all his conflicted pain. It's really working for me. It puts something interesting and watchable in the mid-card. I'm really enjoying it. I'm looking forward to more of Eugene's matches.

In the third & final installment of this roadtrip:
Live from San Diego ...

Excellent, wonderfully fun, fabulous show!!

One dark match: Carly Colon (different hair than he had last week in San Jose, but same cute little body, & very nice white vinyl trunks) d. local jobber (something like "Ricky Riaz" maybe, announced as local). Carly is good -- we may see more of him.

Heat taping:

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
Rhyno (very much a face!) d. Stevie Richards. Good match, & I continue to be suprised at how over Rhyno is all of a sudden. (Happy, but suprised.)

La Res d. pair of jobbers -- no clue what their names were. I believe the one jobber was the short, chunky blond from last week. (Which I just now remember y'all didn't see, bacause of the PPV. Ah well.) His partner here was pretty good & knew how to work the crowd well, & the match was good. Couple of times a "Eugene" chant broke out to taunt Conway. (BTW, why have I never noticed before what a cute tush Rob Conway has?)

Garrison Cade d. Hurricane, with neither Rosie nor Coach in sight. Pretty top-rope elbow drop by Cade.

Lillian's national anthem, as always, continues to kick ass. (And let's hear it from the fans of Lillian's boots. :-) )

Lita vs. Trish was good live. I watched the broadcast & there were several things that didn't look as good on TV. This is an unfortunate problem, if your stuff looks worse on TV than it does live. But Lita's acting skills continue to be terrible. (There's something to be said for consistency, right? No?)

Randy promo / Shelton interruption / Flair runin to bail out Orton: Shelton is excellent, & even that little interaction was very good. While y'all went to commercial, Flair herded Orton off to the back, & Shelton noticed that Randy had left his IC title belt in the ring. Very nice playing with the crowd, trying it on for size & carrying it to the back over his shoulder. Big pops.

OK, Kane's pyro is loud. But when you're sitting there during commercial break, twiddling your thumbs, & out of nowhere it hits ... Yeow! Nice that Val got some offence before being squashed. Also good crazed-boyfriend by Matt. Terrible acting by Lita. As Kane was walking back up the ramp, 3 refs were running in to assist the squashed Matt. They all sort of met up on the ramp -- very nice bit of business by the refs, trying to sneak by without riling Kane. (It makes me so happy when they do the little things. :-) )

Edge is getting his Edge-ness back! Distinctly more vibrant entrance, & just a bit more of that energetic "it" in the ring. Benoit very over. Much more heelish reception for Orton & Batista than they got in San Jose. There was a little bit of face response for Randy, but mostly they got a good strong heel reaction.

Damn, Benoit is short when you put him in the ring with those other 3! :-)

I don't think the camera caught Orton's "up yours" gesture to the crowd when they got a good "Randy sucks" chant going. Tee-hee. Note to Randy though: When you go for a dropkick that you're supposed to miss, don't clap.

This was a very good match. Crowd eating up Benoit's ring work (with a spoon), Batista looking very good, & Edge starting to get the crowd back with him. I bslieve there was a commercial in the middle of this, but we didn't see a disruption of the match flow, which is a very good thing.

Evil Coach / sweet Eugene was very well done. And then the Rock came out for the emotional save, & the place went insane. He was perfect being sweet with Eugene, nasty back to Coach, suggesting struedel to Lillian, takin' care of business, all at once. He seemed to like the "Screw the Coach" chant even better than the "popcorn fart" one he'd planned. Big heat for Cade for trying to break up the party. Excellent fun!

So then we go to the battle royal. We've been on our feet through the whole Rock segment, we get up for HHH's entrance, & basically stay on our feet for the rest of the night. Maven's looking really yummy. La Res had changed into teal trunks, which were tres chic. Johnny Nitro is quite the cutie. One very nice piece of business: as guys are coming in they're clumping up with the heels sorta together, the faces sorta together, & HHH in his own corner. As soon as Kane gets in there, everybody (except HHH, who actually says something to Kane) bunches up in the furthest possible side of the ring. As Kane crosses, they all herd around, maintaining maximum distance. I love those details! Opening spot, where everybody tries to jump Evolution all at once, except Kane being aloof & Johnny being smarmy -- excellent.

I think I have seen a live battle royal once before, but it wasn't as good & talent-chocked as this one was. It was very busy, & you know you're going to miss stuff. But it's also awfully fun! There is so much more going on than the cameras can capture, & it's wonderful to get to select for yourself who you want to watch. They really are all working on telling their various stories, & you can pretty much watch whomever & see really good stuff. We had no apparent lulls around the commercial breaks, which was great. Shelton had a lot of excellent stuff. Randy was using his weasally technique of fetally clinging to a bottom rope to stay in. Batista was roving among 3 corners, protecting the rest of Evolution. Jericho, Shelton, Edge & Randy all doing at least one "cling to the top rope" each. (That's got to be even tougher for the tall guys, not letting your feet touch.) I thought the Kane chokeslam-fest just re-emphasized how dominant he is, & his "standoff" with Batista was excellent. Everybody was expecting HBK's runin, but having him come in through the crowd helped the impact. Excellent stuff between him & HHH, & his bail out back up the aisle was good. He was totally swamped up the aisle though -- sort of like the last time Rocky thought he might go for a stroll among the People. Hunter raging in-ring. Excellent, excellent stuff.

And we got aftershow! Lillian announced again, "To repeatr, your winner is Kane." Which incensed an already enraged HHH. He went out & dragged her back into the ring with malicious intent. But she (having an infinitely better survival instinct than Lita) slipped out under the ropes on the far side of the ring & bailed up the ramp. (Boots. I'm tellin' ya. If you want the heels, but still need to be able to move, gotta go with the boots.) HHH worked the crowd for a while, we jeered, he taunted, a good time was had. He said something about "If Benoit were still here, I'd...", & Chris dutifully appeared. "You had a tag team match hours ago -- haven't you gone home yet?" They promo, we interact, they scuffle, Benoit gets the crossface on HHH. He teases tapping twice, then finally does. "You tapped out." HHH gets halfway up the ramp, Chris stops him, asks us to give HHH a round of applause. OK, we politely comply. "HHH, you may not understand why these people are applauding. It's because you're part of the 'you tapped out' club." Chris Benoit is so damn *cute* when he gets all smirky! They've got to use that more!!

Most of the crowd goes back to applauding Benoit. Just for those of us who were still watching him, Hunter does one total slapstick move, looking back to the ring as he's just about to go through the door to the back, then turning to run directly into the wall. That would be just for MEMEME, I'm quite sure. :-)

Whole show -- so much fun!! Excellent, excellent!
