I did a cross-country road trip (and back!) as a kid, so I'm not actually not that sure about some of the ones in the middle.

Wow, I really haven't gone anywhere.

I can say that I've spent a significant amount of time in most of the places I've been, though. I live in Washington (as can be seen by my location), I lived in Tennessee for about a year, and lived in Oregon for about 3-4 months (mostly on the coast). Kentucky was a short stop, however - I went there to watch Tennessee Tech play (my half-brother's old college football team) and buy some lottery tickets.

I don't count airport layovers, but if I did, I could tack on Missouri and Georgia.

There was a trip to Norway planned for August, but that's been postponed a couple of years. Ja vel.

This thing is kick-ass.

Here's mine. Any state in which my feet (or anything connected to my feet) have not touched the ground, I'm not counting. So in other words, I'm counting states that I've passed through by car, but not by plane.

IMO, airport layovers DO count. You're on the ground in that state...why not?
When I was in Louisville, I walked over the bridge into Indiana just to say I've been to Indiana. When I was in St. Louis, I rode the train over the river to East St. Louis, just to say I'd been in Illinois. (I've since been in Chicago's airports)
I guess I'm a nerd about these things, but I figure I may never be back. North Carolina was an airport visit(Charlotte), but most others I'd at least walked around or spent the night.

Interesting to see where others have or haven't been.

That's how I got Alabama. I was in Pensacola and had a lunch break before I had to work again, so I drove ten miles to the border, tooled around Lillian, AL for five minutes, and went back to Florida.

If I lived back in the wild west days, instead of carrying a six-gun in my holster, I'd carry a soldering iron. That way, if some smart-aleck cowboy said something like "Hey, look. He's carrying a soldering iron!" and started laughing, and everybody else started laughing, I could just say, "That's right, it's a soldering iron. The soldering iron of justice." Then everybody would get real quiet and ashamed, because they had made fun of the soldering iron of justice, and I could probably hit them up for a free drink.
