I know it sounds insane, but crazier things have happened. Eugene is a total WWE creation, so he has that going for him, and he's so over with the fans it's almost unbelievable. This guy has barely had his first televised match and he is already perceived as a star. He has repeatedly been getting the loudest pops according to house show reports. Nick is an incredible wrestler in the ring, he and Benoit would have great matches down the line. Just because the guy got straddled with that gimick, you can't take away that he is a very gifted technical wrestler.

I, as a Chris Benoit fan, would be quite irate if he dropped the title to what is (right now) a midcard comedy wrestler. Be that as it may, stranger things have happened. I shall predict this though, Eugene Dinsmore in his current position and situation will not win the World Championship. If they changed his gimmick a bit...well, it's possible.

I think it's inevitable that, once the angle starts to lose steam and his heat starts to diminish, Eugene will turn heel and reveal that it was all a ruse in order to play up our sympathy. Uncle Eric will probably have been in on it (much as that will violate the current continuity, that's hardly stopped them before), and Eugene, with a haircut and a shave, can become the gifted technical wrestler with a relative in a position of power. Kind of like HHH, really. THEN I can see him moving towards the ME level. As he is, though, he's definitely a midcarder. Nonetheless, given his level of heat at the moment, he might be in line for the IC title once Orton's finally relieved of it (C'mon, Shelton!)

So he doesn't really have the body. He's just kinda a shaggy bastard who the audience can't help but like, who's also a talented technical wrestler capable of telling a story in the ring...
True... Mankind was definitely screwed up in the head when he started in the WWF (and I mean that only in the nicest way), but how can Eugene's character evolve over time so that it doesn't seem too ludicrous for him to be a legitimate contender?
Edit: I'm not even asking that question to be a smartass... I legitimately want to know.

I agree with this. I can see that this is what WWE writers have planned as a 'failsafe'. Turn Eugene on Regal, yadda yadda yadda.
I forsee it going as smoothly as Kane unmasking, which was HUGE, up until they booked him to get beat like a drum by Shane McMahon. Eugene turns heel, but as soon as a face gets the best of him, he's dead in the water.

A-Train is already on Raw. I can see how this would come as a surprise.

I like that idea of the ruse. Team him with his old OVW parter Rob Conway.

-Kane went from childlike scarred masked mute maniac to partly-scarred goofy chatterbox to non-scarred bald badass and no-one really moans about it. -Mick hopped from persona to persona for months, MONTHS in 1997. -The Undertaker died last year and is now a zombie. -Booker T is going to be a voodoo priest.
With all that considered, I'd say thay having Eugene disappear after it runs its course, then introducing Nick Somethingorother a month or two later, is not that silly an option.
Once upon a time in China, some believe, around the year one double-ought three, head priest of the White Lotus Clan, Pai Mei was walking down the road, contemplating whatever it is that a man of Pai Mei's infinite power contemplates - which is another way of saying "who knows" - when a Shaolin monk appeared, traveling in the opposite direction. As the monk and the priest crossed paths, Pai Mei, in a practically unfathomable display of generosity, gave the monk the slightest of nods. The nod was not returned. Now was it the intention of the Shaolin monk to insult Pai Mei or did he just fail to see the generous social gesture? The motives of the monk remain unknown. What is known, are the consequences. The next morning Pai Mei appeared at the Shaolin Temple and demanded of the Temple's head abbot that he offer Pai Mei his neck to repay the insult. The Abbot at first tried to console Pai Mei, only to find Pai Mei was inconsolable. So began the massacre of the Shaolin Temple and all 60 of the monks inside at the fists of the White Lotus. And so began the legend of Pai Mei's five point palm exploding heart technique.

Worse comes to worse they can always recycle the old "George Steele has shock therapy" segements. Key word on that idea by the way is WORSE.
Whatever happens, I still think Eugene is a more plausible wrestler or champion than Zach Gowen ever was. What a difference a year makes. A heel turn with Dinsmore going (I hesitate to say) normal seems most likely since this really is a short-term gimmick while Dinsmore, by every indication, seems to be a long-term talent.
I don't think Dinsmore is world champion material at this point, but honestly, it's way too early to tell. Who would have known, less than two years ago when they were both unpushed afterthoughts on Velocity, that both Randy Orton and John Cena would get the uber-pushes they've both had over the last year.
I think the more pressing question, though, should be not whether Eugene will ever win the world title, but how they could best use Eugene to lead to a title win for Regal...
The Toronto Maple Leafs: Hockey's equivalent of the Chicago Cubs, but easier to hate.
Actually I would like to see William Regal (great talent, unique style, good on the mic, extremly funny, worthy veteran, ...) as world champion, but Eugene.....give me a break!
Nah, Eugene and Regal will wind up feuding until Bad Blood, then on the next Raw, Eugene buys a foam title belt at the concession stand and "defends" that for the next 6 months.
Originally posted by Matt TrackerI'd rather have one show for mat-based spectacle (Raw) another for gimmick spectacle (SD). There Eugene can manage to become champ.
Some(me) were calling for practically the same thing a year ago, except with the rosters reversed. Who could've predicted then that Raw would become the "New Smackdown"? Though the thing about Dinsmore is he would obviously have the skills to work out on either show. No matter the gimmick, its refreshing to have a talent this diversified on the roster. How in the world did he not get called up before certain military abandoners, bowling accident sufferers, or Aussie ex-convicts?
Okay, first of all Mick Foley was not a "gifted technical wrestler". He could definitely tell a story in the ring, so gifted storyteller would be pretty accurate but I've never seem him chain-wrestle or do anything even the least bit technical.
And Val Venis, while certainly a better technical wrestler than Foley, is not "gifted" either. Forty moves, all of them needing an irish whip to set them up, are not a sign of being gifted. Do you really think this guy would be a main eventer if he hadn't gotten the porn star gimmick. Without that he'd have been more bland than anyone on the roster. He would have been "white trunks, managed by Trish" Sean Morley, and that woulda sucked. If anything that gimmick gave him fifteen minutes of fame he would not likely otherwise have attained.
Now Dinsmore I've not seen outside of his RAW appearances, so I can't judge his potential. That said, I would seriously doubt "retard becomes World Champ" is a storyline WWE is going to do. IC Champ? Maybe. A tag-champ with a partner who is embarrassed to be teamed with him? Even more likely. World Champ? Not bloody likely.
Edit: And Eddy Guerrero is the fucking bomb, so he deserves better than to be the Champ of the "outcast" show. Here's a thought, all: why not evenly divide the talent for once?
