I read on Scott Keith's blog in the comments section that USA is planning a made-for-TV movie about Owen's death and his wife's suit against WWE. From thefutoncritic.com:
"RING OF LIES (original movie) - chronicles how the wife of wrestler Owen Hart wrested a multimillion settlement out of Vince McMahon's WWE after her husband died doing a stunt during a match. Executive producers: Robert Cooper and Paul Kaufman. Writers: T.S. Cook and Ron Hutchinson"
Nothing on the Internet Movie Database about it yet, so it's probably still months (years?) off. Still, I have the feeling that this is going to be a.....how should I put this....not good movie.
Seriously: Iīm not exactly a fan of those so called wrestling "movies"! I think the world could do well without them! If it is done documentary style ok, but if I feel like watching bad actors act bad, then the only thing I have to do is to turn on SmackDown and watch guys like JBL, the Big Show and Torrie Wilson!
Here's hoping the proposed flick(s) live up to the accuracy standards of The Jesse Ventura Story.
Ye gods, this has WrestleCrap written all over it. I hate to see 'em fudge up Owen's legacy with what will surely be a heaping pile o'suck.
Star wipe, and...we're out. Thrillin' ain't easy.
