First of all, I lose 1,000 nerd points because I didn't even know this movie was a sure thing - let alone coming out THIS summer - until I saw a big poster in the theater the other day with the Predator's mask on it. Hmpf.

Some questions, though, for those of you who may have read the AVP comics or have some obscure background information:

I went to IMDB.com and looked at the cast. I know no one, except Lance Henriksen. I'm glad he's in it, because he rocks, but his character is named "Charles Bishop Weyland." Does that mean this movie is a prequel to Alien and he is playing the human after which Bishop the android was patterned? Also, his last name, Weyland, is part of the Weyland-Utani Corporation, better known as "The Company," that sends out the Sulaco in Aliens.

So my question: Is Charles Bishop Weyland the human predecessor of Bishop and one of the heads of Weyland-Utani?

Paul "WS" Anderson says that Alien vs. Predator is supposed to be a sequel to the Predator movies and a PREQUEL to the Alien films. I think that's the general idea, that Henriksen plays Weyland of Weyland and Yutani and his likeness was the human basis for the Bishop androids. However, wasn't there a human Bishop dude in Alien3 played by Henriksen as well that turned out to be Bishop's human counterpart?

But yeah, the general idea is that Weyland in the film is Bishop's human predecessor. And guess who plays Utani of The Weyland-Utani Company in Alien vs. Predator? Robocop himself, Peter Weller. Or so I heard .

Vile is right, and it will "bridge the gap." I think he this Bishoplearns about the Aliens, and that's why they get sent out on all the "bug hunts." He wants a sample. Ripley just keeps on foiling his plans.

He probably NOT another andriod because of a naming pattern.

Alien, the andriod was called Ash.
Aliens, the andriod was called Bishop.
Alien: Resurrection, the andriod was called Call.

I would assume he was an andriod if his name began with a D.

I'm stoked about it; I always thought that Capcom's AvP had a decent plot... but I'd still pay to see it, especially if it has a backplot on why the Preds start coming to hunt on Earth.

Wow. I guess I'm not the only person who's ever played that game. Hopefully, the movie's plot will be as good as the game's.

Wish I could show you guys my "South Park Makeovers." For awhile in 1998, it was absolutely scary how well one week's episode of South Park would mesh with some legitimate news story my station covered that week.
