So what do you think they will do with the commentary issue after the split? Do you think that the commentators will be up for grabs in the draft? Since this is supposed to be two totally seperate groups (besides the champions) they will have to have seperate commentary teams.

I say shake things up and put Heyman with Ross on Raw, as they have great chemistry together. This might interfer with Heyman's managerial duties, though. For Smackdown! they could stick with the Cole/Lawler team. What I could actaully see them doing though is Ross/Lalwer stay on Raw and Cole/Tazz get Smackdown!

The Raw team needs to stay Ross/Lawler... but I wish they brought somebody new in for Smackdown. Cole knows nothing, and I don't think they'll have Lawler do both shows. I was thinking about this Monday night and I cannot think of anybody even in the range of Ross' level as a lead announcer. I was thinking maybe doing something drastic like trying Michael Hayes with somebody who doesn't sound like a moron (the only person I could think of was Mike Tenay and I doubt they'll bring him in).

I thought Eric Bischoff was a great announcer in his day, and he would fit the storylines, too.
You know, I was thinking yesterday...why doesn't the WWF hire Mean Gene Okerlund? He's an easily recognizable face, just like The Fink, and he's awesome with the backstage stuff. Wouldn't Mean Gene beat the hell out of Coach and Michael Cole, or even Lillian Garcia, doing backstage interviews?
Plus, we would get to hear the following:

(MG): I'm standing with the Nature Boy Ric...
(RF): YOU KNOW SOMETHIN' WOO MEAN WOO GENE WOO!!!

(MG): I'm standing with the Immortal Hulk...
(HH): YOU KNOW SOMETHIN' MEAN GENE? THE OTHER DAY I WAS CRUIZIN' VENICE BEACH...

Classic.
What's Bobby the Brain up to? Or Roddy Piper? Or (dare I say it?) LORD ALFRED HAYES?!
There's a lot of good announcers out there.

i remember reading somewhere right before the end of wcw that mean gene was done for good. I dont remember the reason why but i think he was out by choice. Heenan would be awesome to have back (even as a manager) but that may just stay a wish.

Ross and Lawler mentioned the possibility of splitting up in the draft, so I have to think they're considering that. I don't know who - besides Stevie Ray and Mike Tenay, of course - I'd like to see them add from people not currently working for them, if they go that way, but I do think that the Undertaker, Regal and Perfect (who was good at it in the past) would make great color guys down the line.

Who says that Heyman can't knock back a couple hours commentating? We'll probably at least get to hear him guest every now and then when Brock is out.

Doesn't he have back stage duties too? Creative team and such? This guy is good... you dont want to spread him too thin.

While I know I'm in the minority here, I'd really like to see Coach take over one of the shows. Cole/King and Coach/Heyman maybe. Even if Coach just got Heat that would be OK with me.

I must be in minority here, but I always thought that Vince McMahon was a good announcer! Pair him with Mr. Perfect so Perfect doesn't wreck his back anymore than it already is and Vince can get his face on TV without interfering in the storylines!

And Ross doesn't? THERE'S a man who's spread so thin. It's no wonder he's faltering as an announcer with all of the business issues the WWF's been dealing with of late.

I really enjoyed Heyman and Ross as a team. Especially when Heyman corrected Ross. He was a true heel announcer. Lawler may root for the heels, but he is NOT a heel himself.

Lawler can be fun, but needs to be cut to once a week. He cuts on Cole, and that's funny. I say keep them together for Smackdown, unless you plan on briniging in new guys (I always enjoyed both Hudson and Heenan).

What happens to Heat now? Do we get a full recap show? (I hope not, keep that to Excess)... Maybe we get matches from BOTH groups. It's all on tape- there's no need to pretend it's live- but you can show the warm-up matches from both weekly tapings in one hour and put together a solid block of wrestling. Keep it Tazz and Cole, with the added dynamic of Tazz repping for RAW and Cole for Smackdown. Tazz cuts on Cole, too...

What I'm saying is, I like it when the announcers make fun of each other.

In retrospect I miss Heyman on commentary but I hope they just keep him an awesome manager who cuts killer promos instead. I just think that if they put him on commentary on top of that it would dilute the effect his promos could have.

Also, I'd love it if Vince kept the commentary team of Ross and Lawler since they're the established "old" WWF team and Flair had completely new faces (at least to WWF fans) to try eand establish that "his" WWF is different. Something like stumping up the cash for Styles and someone for colour. Failing that bring back Hudson would be nice.

Odds are we'll be stuck with Cole and Tazz though, not that I hate Tazz but I'd rather see him wrestle.

I hated Heyman's commentary so I'm not anxious to see them do it again. Besides, I think it's usually a bad idea to have someone who is actively involved in the ring, even as a manager, to become a part of the commentary team. They tend to focus more on whatever angle they happened to be involved in and not focused on the match that is before them. Part of the reason I quit watching RAW during Invasion is that Ross and Heyman just bickered about the Alliance during all the matches.

I suspect the calf crusher will be AJ's regular finisher against everyone, the Styles Clash will be used in big situations (when facing guys who can actually take it)
