I tried searching because I think I've heard this explained before, but I had no luck. I recently switched to showing only new posts, but I still often get shown posts I've already read. At first I thought it was because I forgot to mark the posts read (another reason to love Opera's customizable mouse movements - I move my mouse left then up and wala, all forums are marked read) but now I noticed that the new column in the forum list confirms that there is only one new post yet I'm being shown three or four. Is this a bug or by design to provide context?

If it SAYS one, you should only see one. Can you send me a PM or find me on AIM when it's happening so I can look at the timestamps in your profile, as well as in the forum?
(Also, make sure you're looking underneath "posts" and not "threads" in the index page when you're checking the numbers?)

FINALLY figured this out. There was a time zone problem that didn't affect ME (on account of I'm in the "correct" time zone ) but WAS affecting people elsewhere. God knows how long THAT'S been going on, but it's fixed NOW. Thanks to anibanging for the heads up on the problem.
I actually liked it better the other way! You would get a the new post(s) but get the last hour or three of old posts to kind of get you into the spirit of the thread without re-reading the whole thread. Can you change it back for just me?

I too like having the few older posts. Serves as a reminder and context to the new stuff that I'm reading. Of course in the Wrestling Forum it sucks.
There was a point, actually, a month or so ago, when it went away; then it started happening again a week later and I kept meaning to mention it...
Thanks, though. Much better now.

This problem was the reason that I switch to "Show all posts" a while back. It got to be a pain in certain forums when I'd mark it read, go back for a new post, and half of the posts were still unread.
Although loading 100+ post threads to read one post gets annoying as well.
I never bothered to bring it up because I figured it was by design.
