I could have lived with the sweep of the Red Sox in Texas. But to go into Cleveland and turn it into a 5 game losing streak means its time to hit the panic button. I've seen bad Red Sox teams in the past, but I've never seen a team that hits worse with runners in scoring position, and worse than that with the bases loaded. .150 with the bases loaded? My grandmother could hit better than that, and she's 97 and dead. This is eerily reminiscent of the collapse of 2001, when the Sox were hot, lost a game they should have won in Texas in 18 innings, had Pedro get beat the next game, and went to Cleveland en route to losing 13 out of 14 (would have been 14 out of 15 with Clemens getting his 20th win to further the humiliation, but it rained in New York on 9/10/01.). Francona might not see June 1st.

Wheel of Morality, turn turn turn. Tell us the lesson that we should learn.

Hold on now, RSN. Stop and breathe for a second. It's May. Last I checked, the Sox are still leading the division and still don't have Nomar or Trot Nixon. This team will hit better than they are right now; it would be nearly impossible for them not to.

The Sox will be just fine; I'll even go out on a limb and say they salvage a split of this series.

So, Brain, what do you want to do tonight?

Here is my problem with the Nomar is coming and Trot is coming theory. If lucky, Nomar might be back by the All-Star break at the rate he's returning from this 3 day injury. And, my hope of Nixon's return was quelled with this quad problem. Wasn't it a quad problem that put him on the shelf last September (perhaps it was a mistake to give him the money). The American League figured out Millar last July, Daubach couldn't play for the White Sox so he now is in the 5-6 slot and Mueller has headed back to Earth. But, Saberhagen is coming, Saberhagen is coming. Oops, I mean Nomar and Nixon are coming, Nomar and Nixon are coming.

Cesar Crespo?

CESAR CRESPO?

I was leery of Daubach and Bellhorn, but at least they can play baseball. Who is this joker? Is our roster really this thin?

I'm on the "Nomar and Trot are coming" bandwagon. I have to be. Without them we are dead in the water.

Hey, Crespo is a fast bastard, and it's fun to yell Cesar when you're drunk. You'll be fine.

I liked the guy in San Diego, Btw.

He's a poor man's Pokey Reese, and who needs that when you got the real thing?

Ideally Crespo is a good utility player, and thats what he'll be when Nomar comes back (provided he remains on the roster at all).

Well, I'll concede him his spot on the roster as a pinch runner, but he shouldn't be in the starting lineup, ever.

I'd be happier if we still had Damian Jackson. I liked him.

The only good news for the Sox is that the Orioles laid an egg for 3 straight games, or else the Sox would be down two.

Life is sure tough for fans of $120 million teams that are in first place without two of their better players. Hit the panic button as May starts!

Fenway Park really really needs to have Free Paxil Night as a promotion. Just sayin.

I would just like to back the call for bringing back the Kaiser. Kaiser = GOOD baseball times for Chicago.

As for the other Sox team, the one on the East Coast...letdowns are inevitable after that battle against the Yankees where that team was SO fired up. After the Cleveland series you get 3 against KC who is on the skids, And then a bunch more against Cleveland (who still isn't that strong), Toronto, and Tampa Bay. If by May 25 when Oakland comes town there's been no improvement, then start hitting the panic button.

quietly slips in the mention that the White variety of Sox have a better record than either the Red ones or the Evil Empire. Yay Ozzie!

Seeing this crap is the main reason why Sox fans get collectively labled as whiners, and make people think that their fans couldn't handle it if the Sox ever win the World Series.

It's a long season RSN. Every good team goes through these losing streaks over the course of a season.

They won tonight and I'm still concerned. Way to many dead spots in the line-up, an outfield where on some nights Manny Ramirez is the outfielder that scares me the least defensively, a bench made up of waiver wire guys, and a manager who in 27 games hasn't put on a hit and run. And, even before the losing streak, the offense was whistling by the graveyard. There aren't many nights where going 0-19 with runners in scoring position provides wins.

FREE Paxil? Have you been to Fenway? Nothing is free.
If they did have such a night, there would be guys with cell phones scalping the Paxil as you got off the Green Line train at Kenmore.

How do you feel now RSN? They've played pretty well the past few games. Today's game was pretty sweet too (Pokey goes inside/out for a multiple HR game). Time to come down off the Tobin, RSN.

I actually prefer the condemned Jamestown Bridge over the Tobin, much less of a wait. Any offense from Pokey, I take as a gift. As long as he fields and stays over .200, he doesn't concern me. However, Kapler is below worthless, McCarty is a stiff, Mueller's elbow isn't right, and Bellhorn is a question mark at best. If we're working under the premise of World Series or bust (and that ticket I have from Vegas says I am), then the fact that they've wasted an opportunity to open up serious ground on Oakland in the loss column concerns me. They always get hot the second half of the year. Also, should the wild card come out of the East, remember the huge advantage of winning the division. Winner plays the Central, loser plays Anaheim and has to take West Coast trips.
