Christian on Raw just quickly spoke that his next goal is the World Championship. My initial response was "yeah riiight" and looking around here most people seem to ignore it or brush it off. If you look a little deeper you could ask "why not". Christian did win at wrestlemania in a high profile match & had some consider a major Wrestlemania moment with Trish heel turn. A month later Christian once again in a high profile match (top 3 in the PPV just behind the World title match & Orton/Foley) and even though Christian lost that match he won the next night one on one with Jericho again... If you really look at it after HHH and Orton is there a heel that has been pushed more then Christian.

So the question again, as Christian throws out a World title challenge why did no one react. The answer IMO goes back to the problem I had since Wrestlemania. The portrayal of Trish + Christian is a mid-card sideshow joke, no matter how many "big" wins they get. The lazy writing hurt a potential good thing with Trish's heel turn for Christian. Instead of working from Trish's past strengths that could add to Christian character they went with kinky and generic character traits but I'm sorry these two (well 3 now) as they are now are not main event ready character wise... They could make improvements and save this potential main event position for Christian but they have to do it now! First off stop with the innuendo and that sort of garbage, give these characters purpose and reason.

First off Trish, the day after WM & Hi-Light Reel they made her sound illogical & a like complete idiot. This time allow her to make sense. Have her get on the mic and say "She's been women champion 4 times, but she wants to do what no other current woman can do & that's manage someone to World Championship Gold therefore making her the greatest woman superstar ever", wouldn't that make her character seemed to have more focus and reasoning to be there... Then we get Christian he can talk about "All the tag gold he's won, but never got the respect thats deserved to him. It's always his partners who get all the hype, he's tired of being the second banana and wants to win the World title to prove it. Trish knows it, that's why she's with him. You will know it after he defeats Benoit". That's a main event promo, not pulling someone's hair and saying I got the girl.

If they are going to do a Christian push they have to get away from what they have been doing & give it a much more in ring agenda. I think it could work, I think it's really important to portray the Team Tristian instead of Christian vs. Benoit, don't think many will buy Christian as a challenger 1on1 vs. Benoit now. BUT the 3 headed heel monster that is Team Tristian, could be taken as a threat. With Trish sneaky tactics outside, with quick wrestling strikes or using objects like loaded purse, powdered makeup etc. Also add Tyson doing power cheat moves outside & Christian doing the wrestling inside. I think those 3 could be taken as a legit challenger to Benoit... The build to a potential PPV match is important, you have to really slam in the idea of these 3 are working as a team & put that out there as a major threat to Benoit. Maybe Christian winning a #1 contendership match vs. Y2J with his team cheating.

Is Christian winning the World Title? Doubt it. But I think it's a big win situation for everyone. Benoit gets put over strong going 3on1 & maybe being the cause of Trish & Chrisitan break up. If the ratings/buyrates are respectable, Christian could fit into Y2J old heel spot as sub-main eventing heel, if it doesn't he can always go back to the tag ranks with Tyson. Also Trish can make a clean split & go into the women ranks but yet stay heel(as everyone here for whatever reason seems to love) & say "Christian let her down & ruined it for her" and Christian can blame Trish for the loss, both stay greedy, both stay heel. Just not with eachother... As for HHH/HBK, IF HHH stays on board in June they could have another match at BadBlood. Shawn has always said his issue with HHH is personal & not necessary the title.

You can have 4 man semis going for the #1 contendership, HHH vs. HBK & Christian vs. Y2J. Have the HHH/HBK match have some sort of double DQ(setting up a gimmick match at BadBlood, HITC maybe) therefore having the Y2J/Christian match by default being the finals of the #1 contendership with Christian going over... With JBL vs. Eddie on the SD PPV, is it that crazy having Christian vs. Benoit for a Raw PPV & in June it's the 1st time we are getting double PPV a month as SD is having one in that month as well. Plus it saves Benoit vs. HHH for a bigger event like Summerslam. Christian/Trish is getting decent heat, Friday show in Texas, Trish came out to an initial pop but quickly got on the mic & gave the old you rednecks speech as they turned on her & from reports Christian got 2nd in heel heat(behind H3)& Christian was facing Val(not the most supportive guy). Tristian just needs to just adjust their heel personas.

This would be SOOOOOOOOO simple to book, too.

1) This week's RAW: In a non-title match, Trish interferes (by grabbing Benoit's legs during a pinfall attempt, preventing the kick-out) giving Christian the win over Benoit.

(I'd keep Tyson out of it, physically, anyway, as Trish grabbing the leg is a less cheap way to win than Tyson physically attacking Benoit after a ref bump. Plus, if Christian can "beat" Benoit without Tyson's help, what'll happen if Tyson DOES get involved?

2) Next week's RAW: During Christian's promo touting his win the previos week, Benoit interrupts and counters with "if you REALLY think you can beat me, I'll put the title on the line and we can have a match at the PPV."

Voila, your Bad Blood main event. I think it really would fit their characters beautifully as well, so it'll DEFINITELY never happen.

It'd be a good little RAW feud but there's no way in hell I'd try to sell Christian as a PPV Main Eventer.

As entertaining as he is, Christian just looks and wrestles like a midcarder.

JBL is a good point but he's a big hoss.

I think this would be great, but there are a few things hurting it. One, vince doen't think Benoit is strong enough to carry a ppv yet. Theres a reason Trips and HBK have been in the matches too. That happens with everytitle contender though. Trips worked with Austin and Foley for months. HBK worked former world champs like Diesel (Nashole) and Vader to stay over, and Jericho...man they screwed him up. The point is however, they need to wait at least 6 months (and yes i want the belt on benoit for at least 6 months) before they let him elevate anyone.

I can see them doing this at Bad Blood, but only if they have another high profile match in the uppercard (like Jericho against Flair, HHH or Orton. If they let Benoit & Christian run wild in the ring, I'd even PAY to see that.

Don't you remember them trying this before? He smashed Edge's head like a pumpkin with two chairs. He had the demented look on his face. He complained about Edge getting all the attention. They feuded. They had matches on PPV. And through it all Christian presented himself like a mid-carder. It's not them, it's him.

As far as Trish goes, she did sound a little dumb explaining her turn. But that's because she's really not too good on the microphone. I don't see why they can't be elevated and like to have sex at the same time. Everytime any female purports to enjoy any form of sex people think it's bad writing. Maybe she can be a heel AND like the dick. Lord knows Rene Dupree pulls it off.

There is no way in hell Christian should get near a pay-per-view main event in the next three to six months. He's been midcard-4-life up until this point, and his wins over Jericho aren't indicative of his rise up the card rather than signs of how far Jericho has fallen from ME status. It would be as dumb as pushing Bradshaw to a PPV main event-and we all know how bad THAT'S turning out. I'd buy it as a between-PPV three/four week sidebar feud, but putting it as a major-show main event would be ridiculous.

At this point I just wouldn´t buy Christian as the #1 contender - Maybe it would be funny, but ... Hell NO!!
There are so many other midcard wrestlers to push first: 1)Jericho 2)Orton 3)Edge 4)Benjamin
Personally I´d love to see another Benoit/Jericho feud!
Or even better than that:
A Benoit/Jericho IRON MAN MATCH!

Only way Christian gets put in a PPV World Title match is if they use him as the dark horse 'no one believes he can win, so they might believe we are crazy enough to put him over in a fluke manner' contender in an Elimination Chamber match. Or, they could move him to SD, where through default he would be #1 heel.

Well, if they put Christian in a multi-contender World Title match as a dark horse, they'd more or less need to have him win in order to maintain his credibility. Otherwise it's “he shouldn't have been in the match to begin with, what the hell were they thinking?” At the very least, he'd have to put on one hell of a show and fall just short.

Anyway, at this particular moment, I'd accept Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Randy Orton, Shelton Benjamin, Edge and Kane as legitimate World Title contenders. Right now, even Jericho isn't on that list in my opinion, let alone Christian.

If they're really serious about building Christian up to that level, they've got to get him some victories over some of the guys on that list. Hell, he could even cheat, but they can't look too much like a fluke.

I don't know. I like Christian as much of the next guy, and I find him entertaining. But I think pushing him to the main event is going to be incredibly difficult, for several reasons-- most of them intangible.

Like the fact that JR calls every move he does the Unprettier...except the Unprettier. When was the last time JR messed up on a move by Tripps or Michaels or any other "real" main eventer? In order to get Christian over as a main eventer, they have to portray Christian as at least worthy of attention to minor detail.

I hope whoever the Challenger for the world title is at Bad Blood is built up pretty well because I plan on being there and don't want to be disapointed. Christian a main eventer? I like the sound of that but as this very thread has said it doesn't look possible.

If you think it won't be HHH/Benoit at Bad Blood, you are nuts. I think a few months depending on who he beats, Christian can move a spot on two like going against Shawn or Edge again. They'd have to end the Jericho fued soon, because it is getting kinda boring. They need to move Jericho off to another fued with either Orton or Batista. The Raw roster is kinda set in pecking order ie Benoit, HHH, Shawn then Edge, Orton, Flair and Batista, then Jericho, Shelton, Christian. Its sad when Evolution is the top four even though Batista is the only one with potential in the group, but HHH has been putting up good matches. Orton needs to move down a spot and move Shelton up.

Here is how I would book Bad Blood.

Benoit vs. HBK
HHH vs. Edge
Orton vs. Shelton
Christian vs. Jericho
Batista/Flair vs. ?
Kane vs. Team Extreme- you know Jeff is coming back
Victoria vs. Molly and Gail Kim

I would suggest they give some of the tag teams a push like Rosey/Hurricane, because the tag titles won't be defended if they have Edge/Benoit as single wrestlers. They need to boost the tag division up, now!

In Jim Ross's defense, he did call the move right last week. Plus, also in his defense, up until two and a half months ago, the move never connected...EVER. (Insert wrestler here) would just push out of it.

But even in that match, he had a false positive, as he called the reverse DDT the Unprettier at least once. I agree with Gugs; real main eventers get named finishers, and they have the announcers suitably respond to those finishers. And it's not like Christian is Jericho, with three or for finishers; he just has the one. Unless they plan on letting him beat guys with the Stunner, JR needs to watch a few tapes....

Well, Christian ain't the only guy whose finishing move gets incorrectly named. How about when the Dudleyz done an inverted 3-D (a double-team backdrop, which they use for a setup move) and J.R.'s called it the 3-D, which is their finisher and also set up far more dramatically?

I'll say this, though... the Unprettier is one nasty-looking little move, but it's hurt by the fact that it takes so long to set up that 90% of all human beings in the world have reversed it by simply pushing him away.

It seems like 90%, anyway. I'm afraid I don't have the actual numbers in front of me at this very moment.

Christian vs Benoit would be a good two week feud that Raw likes to book when they are in the six week off PPV stretch. It would freshen things up a bit, give Christian a rub and be a good way to see where Benoit really stands.

Christian isn't a PPV type challenger though. His IC Title reigns were pretty poor for one thing. It may have been that he and Booker T. didn't click, but those IC title runs would be enough to shy me away from Main Eventing him at a PPV for quite awhile.

Christian hasn't got the moves to be top challenger for title, has he? I always thought he offer more than Edge but both are midcarders in my eye. Giving him a heel Trish was a good move, it help both but this Tomko chappie is a bit of an unknown and seem out of his depth so far. And it take away from Team Trishtian.

Stars like Y2J, Orton, Benoit, HHH al have moves and skills to carry a main event PPV feud but not Chrisitan even if he does get load of heel heat like not many can. I just not think he good enough in the ring and have limited moveset.

This is why I love JR. It's like having my grandfather call matches and not being able to tell Sheldon Benjamin apart from D-Von Dudley, or Trish from Chris Jericho.
