Awesome awesome awesome series thus far. I expect that the Flames might keep Dave Lowry in the line-up for Game 6 and punt one of the youngin's (possibly Chuck Kobasew) to the pressbox so Ville Nieminen can suit up. Other than that, the Flames defense has been nearly airtight this series. With Warrener back, I can't see how Detroit can pull it off.

And yes, I am SO GLAD about that. (Go Flames Go!)

I don't know how "the Reverend" feels right now, but I don't care about the series anymore. I just hope Yzerman's career isn't over, as if it wasn't already do to retirement.

Well, if the Wings lose let's consult Dawg's official "who is allowed to win the stanley cup" list:

Red Wings
The rest of the Original Six
Teams from Canada
American Teams ABOVE the Mason-Dixon line (extend the line across the united states) with the exception being the Queborado Avadiques.

Therefore, GO LEAFS GO!

I completely missed the ten minutes where Stevie Y got hurt. I had heard he had gone to the dressing room, but I didn't see the actual shot until the evening news.

That said, the Captain's health is WAY more important than this series. Luckily, it seems he will make a full recovery. Even if the team can put his injury out of their mind, it'll still be difficult for the Wings to come back without his leadership out there (not to mention his faceoff skill)...

Just wanted to say that the 3rd period of Game 6 was perhaps the best period of playoff hockey (without a goal) that you will ever see. I know it was some of the best end to end without a whistle hockey I have ever watched.

Great stuff!!

On to overtime!

I don't normally watch Hockey, and I was impressed. That was some damn fine play.

I can see either team winning this one. On to OT!

One step closer to getting a Canadian team in the Finals. Good for Calgary as that franchise looked to be almost dead a couple years ago.

That was an amazing game.

Lise has proclaimed that I am not allowed to watch Hockey when I am old, due to apparent heart issues while watching.

Damn.

Freeway420 has probably fallen down somewhere...trampled under a sea of red jerseys between the Saddledome and 17 Ave SW.

Poor kid...

Productivity in this city will hit an all-time low tomorrow.

Now the Sharks/Avs need to go to a Game 7 to give the Flames some time to rest.

Poor poor Cujo. Plays insanely well in another playoff series only to come up short.

That said, the Flames deserve all the credit in the world as they totally outhustled the Wings and constantly played like they wanted to win. The Wings just couldn't contain the Gelinas-Iginla-Conroy line and it killed them.

The only consolation I have is the Pistons delivering an ass-kicking to the Nets. And now they will probably lose the next four games. So full of hate.

Now who says Zero-Zero games are boring, that was exciting!

I think poor Cujo is jinxed, no matter how talented the team is in front of him. No matter how well he plays. The team he's in net comes up short. I don't think it's a choke thing either, it's just one of those things that's not meant to be for him. In playoffs or Olympic play.

Who would have guessed after San Jose got a 3-0 lead on Colorado that the Flames will be the one sitting cool & set at home watching guaranteed a spot at the Semi's the Sharks and Avs play

You have no idea. A bunch of us went down to Bottlescrew Bill's on 10th...and after the game we went down to 17th. INSANE. Girls flashing, everyone cheering and chanting and high-fiving. INSANE. Awesome game, tons of fun. My friends & I are already planning on watching the Conference Finals together to continue the awesome partying.

And if you had a car on 17th...it's basically a write-off now.

Good Lord.

I watched the game at Bass Bros' in Lincoln Park, and the place erupted like one massive collective orgasm when Gelinas put the puck over the line.

I then headed right to 17th Ave where there are still thousands of people celebrating. I remembered a good place to park off 17th and ran down to the centre of the storm at Melrose, where there was a lot of breast-baring and people on top of cars. It seemed like a gigantic parade going both ways down the street.

I am still shaking from this evening. Wow. Wow.

WOW.

edit: two points: 1)I took a bunch of pictures on 17th Ave, not sure if anyone wants them.
2)at 1:30am I can still hear horns and screaming(and I'm far from any major roads)

Couldnt have been more fitting...Martin Gelinas whose only other OT winner was the series winner vs. Vancouver...Talk about being in the right place at the right time - twice!

WRONG. Gelinas sent Carolina into the next round with an overtime winner in 2002. He's the only man in the NHL's history to do such THREE TIMES.

Anyone else notice the 4 Red Wings (Chelios, Shannahan, Yzerman and Hull) posing for a picture after the Canada/U.S. gold medal game? I thought that was pretty cool.
