I first noticed him in the pull-apart brawl backstage too, but strangely, didn't notice him during that match.
I didn't hear anything from JR, but you'd think with Race at ringside and Flair in the ring, he'd bring up the history between those two. Or maybe I missed it.
And no Hirohito video?

Right when I turned the TV on, Gail Kim was doing that pretty sweet submission move. Then I was a little peeved when Lita broke it up.
Comment from TWELVE year old sister: "Maybe she's mad because she realized she's the only woman now that blows all of her moves"
At least Molly was smart enough to get the hell out of the ring when Kane came out, but apparently Lita still doesn't know how to exit a ring/somehow thinks that she can beat up Kane/thinks Kane is hot. When Kane was smelling her, all I could think of was him saying "Mmmm...you smell purty" in a southern accent.
When H came out, I kept yelling to the TV "GET OUT, TAJIRI! You're not a main eventer, which means he's going to beat the shit out of you!" Sure enough, that's what happened. But the visual of H flopping around like a fish out of water was pretty funny.
H complaining to a plant = even more humorous
Regal's expression to the pyros = priceless
Johnny Nitro is kawaii, as always. I'm kind of excited to see how Eugene's character acts in-ring.
A couple of weeks ago, my sister commented to me "I know why you like Jericho now...his crotch is shiny in his video!". So, this week, I was upset to see that his video changed when I tried to find his shiny crotch.
Tajiri...go over Triple H? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA~!!!!
No matter what I'm doing, I always make sure to never miss the Matt Facts. Dang...he NEVER misses ANY deadlines? I think I do need to learn the ways of Mattitude. Once again, Lita shows her disability of exiting a ring...*sighs*.
HOLY CRAP! Batista looked like he was about to explode or something with all those veins popping out.
And that's Renegade's Random Raw Remarks and Rants (alliteration is the KEY) for the week.
Well, what was that thing that Tajiri was all crawling up on HHH's back called? or was that just a mutant, trying to grab somebody type deal?
Anyhow, when the Girlfriend looked at the tv for a split second and said "Who's grandfather is that?" When Harley Race was on, I had to explain it to her. JR and King should have went more out of thier way to point out his history.
Plus, Shelton Benjamin nearly takes Orton's head off with a monster clothesline and then does the SPLASH! on him. I cant wait for that fued, and for SB to get the IC.
My girlfriend asked "If the green mist is so deadly, why wouldnt HHH wash it off?"
One wrestling show with TWO wreslters trying to kiss people who wanted no part of it! Classic. However, if I was that kid, I would have grabbed her boob while she was all bent over. Its not like she's gonna smack him on live TV.
And, does HHH and Lita now have the same exact haircut?
I liked Molly's wig tonite. Hopefully she would wear her hair like that when it grows out.
Eugene has a lot of potential, if only for commentating and bringing up OLD SCHOOL references like he did tonite. Just one match a week, I would love it.
It was also nice for JR to say that Lawler had faced a long list of legends. People forget he has beat just about every wrestler in the world at one time or another.
I believe the hold Tajiri put on Trips was the Octopus, but it's been so long since he broke it out of mothballs I can't be sure. (It's always annoyed me that Tajiri tries to work the Tarantula, which makes no sense, into every match, yet never seems to find a chance to use the Octopus...)
s'io credesse che mia risposta fosse a persona che mai tornasse al mondo, questa fiamma staria senza piu scosse. ma percoche giammai di questo fondo non torno vivo alcun, s'i'odo il vero, senza tema d'infamia ti rispondo.
The Octopus, which we have seen Fujinami use on Flair, can be a nice segueway/ surprise should you decide to change your mind when attempting a pumphandle slam.
The Race incident was total bullshit. It does nothing for the career of Orton and it robs Race of his dignity when he attempts to enjoy the occasional match in his homestate.
If that was Lou Thesz in Virginia (god bless his soul), and I was in the audience, kayfabe or not I would have shouted bullshit in Orton's face.
Can he really be that stupid to be roped into this stupid incident? Can Jim Ross conveniently ignore the fact that Randy was practially brought up on Harley's lap, amongst that of other wrestlers in the Missouri/ Kansas territories?
Are we that stupid? Who the hell is this company trying to shock? You know, this kid Randy has great potential. But they are destroying his career with all this stunts that make him look very NOT credible. The Hardcore Match? Does anybody think that he is more talented for taking thumbtacks?
Sometimes I wonder why I continue watching this shit. When wannabe soap opera writers take over jobs of established bookers/ ex-wrestlers and show no common sense and respect for the history of our sport.

I thought that was the point. Everytime that Orton beats up or otherwise desecrates a legend, he gets more heat. By beating up Benoit in Calgary with Evolution, for instance, he garners local heat due to Benoit being Canadian. Since McMahon has the money and the influence to get legends residing all over the U.S. (and presumably abroad) to appear on WWE programming and promote both themselves (Moolah's book) and current WWE wrestlers like Orton, what's the hassle? It's all part of the show, and you're damned better bet that Harley Race was cool enough to go along with it. If he weren't, Orton would've gotten knocked on his ass.
Good RAW.
NHL PLAYOFFS: Lightning vs. Canadiens, Flyers vs. Senators OR Maple Leafs, Red Wings vs. Flames and Avalanche vs. Sharks
Originally posted by SpaceMountainI agree with Freeway. But the whole incident makes no sense.
There is such thing good heat, and then there is the fan thinking, "Why is this supposed to be believable?"
A kid who nobody knew about two years ago except for his family legacy is now picking on someone with whom he used to have dinners with as a child?
Somebody tell me why this is believable? Or is the idiot creative writer assuming we are just stupid and any offensive action equals immediate heat.
ALL WE'VE BEEN TOLD ABOUT RANDY ORTON IS THAT HE'S A THIRD GENERATION SUPERSTAR.
He loves the ladies. He's smooth. He's good in the ring. He's from St. Louis. We were never told about living with Harley Race on his couch or whatever because it wasn't relevent. Why would it be relevent? Why would the casual viewer give a f*ck about Harley Race? We're told to care about Ric Flair because he's a 16-time World's Champion and he's a bastard. Harley Race is an 8-time Champ, we're told. Randy Orton is a tough guy, and a "legend killer", and they established his relationship with Race as only that of hunter & prey [or Legend (Race) and Legend Killer (Orton)].
NHL PLAYOFFS: Lightning vs. Canadiens, Flyers vs. Senators OR Maple Leafs, Red Wings vs. Flames and Avalanche vs. Sharks
How is this Legend Killer Gimmick any more believable than if Erik Watts used it in WCW ten years ago or Alex Wright seven years ago?
Ever reported inconsistencies to your friends when you watch a movie or a popular TV show? The average viewer should not pick it up, but then again who is the average viewer?
If something is so glaringly obvious as an omission on TV or in the movies people would be talking about it for weeks. But in wrestling we have to accept everything?
It is one thing sit back and enjoy the show, it is quite another to accept everything McMahon's lazy ass writers throw our way.
Friends hasn't been on since the 1960s. Friends doesn't have the cast of hundreds of wrestlers. Friends doesn't have a World Championship. Ross doesn't magically change characters every season, or get repackaged under a mask...although a lot of us wish he would be.
Randy Orton & Harley Race, private citizens, know each other. Harley Race & Randy Orton, wrestling characters, met on April 26th when Orton spat in Race's face. Triple H & Stephanie McMahon are married in real life, but they never mention it on TV. WHY? WHY? BECAUSE IT'S NOT IMPORTANT TO THE STORY THEY ARE TRYING TO TELL. What they don't tell us is just as important as what they do tell us.
And Randy Orton is a "Legend Killer" because he's actually wrestled a lot of legends and beaten them. And the legends he hasn't wrestled, he just beat up or angered (like Harley Race).
NHL PLAYOFFS: Lightning lead Canadiens 2-0, Flyers lead Maple Leafs 2-0, Red Wings & Flames tied 1-1 and Sharks lead Avalanche 3-0
Originally posted by StampedeFan23What was the name of the submission move that Gail Kim used tonight? Any guesses?
It's called a Cristo. It's a Lucha submission, but Sonjay Dutt does it quite a bit too.(so sayeth my Lucha/indy fed head friend)
That was the coolest thing I have seen in a long time. I hope Gail continues to bust it out.
I thought RAW was really good last night, except for Ross and Lawler. It was as if they weren't even at the same show as the one I was watching. There were some really excellent, exciting moves going on during the matches and JR and the King didn't say a word about them. Just muttering about puppies, or what people from Kansas are called, or who knows what. The show was good, but to me the commentary is what kept it from being excellent.
Just to make an observation, if Orton grew up around Race, then wouldn't that be a really good reason for Harley to agree to the angle last night? I mean, if he watched the kid grow up and get into the business, isn't there a chance he agreed to that just to help Randy out and get some more heat on him?
OK show. Nothing groundbreaking, but a pretty solid effort.
--Sweet submission by Gail Kim. Took a bit to figure out what was going on. At first it looked like a headscissors, then like Victoria was going to side slam her w/ Kim's legs still around her head, then I finally realized it was a submission.
--Bisch/HHH was a nice little comedy bit.
--I was really digging Conway/Rhyno. I was annoyed that they kept cutting away, and the ending was a bit lame, but other than that, they were building a nice little match. It'll be interesting to see how Conway/Dinsmore playes out. If they get to do a straight wrestling match, it should be good, but I'm not sure how the Eugene gimmick will effect the match.
--Christian/Sexay was pretty bad. Crowd didn't care for GMS, which hurt the match.
--HHH/Tajiri was nice. The "Tajiri jumps onto the steps" sequence was neat.
--Kane/Hardy was bad. Thankfully, we didn't get Jeff running in to make the save.
Originally posted by JakegnosisKane rules. He's been consistently excellent for a while now
Not sure about that. Looks like he's been wrestling in slow motion for the past month or so. That super-delayed ringpost bump from about a month ago looked pretty bad.
--ME tag match was good, no better or worse than last week. I was sure the title were going to go back to Flair/Batista.
My thoughts on the entire Harley Race thing: It was disjointed as all hell, and the 'punch' just made it look bad.
However - it worked for me. It didn't do much for Harley's image, but as it's been mentioned on here, why does today's casual fan need to care about Harley Race? They weren't given a reason to last night, except to use him as a conduit to put more heat on Randy. And that worked, and worked well. We know Orton's a punk kid who has no respect for the legends in this industry. Hell, I'd love to see them CONTINUE this and give Randy the biggest push of all time. Have him punk out Hogan, and Steamboat, and others. I'd mark out like crazy for that, because it works for them telling their story about this kid.
Will he get his comeuppance? Maybe. Maybe the end result is Shelton Benjamin getting over on him and showing him up. That might be short term. But in the long term, Randy's going to be a HUGE STAR... and I'm just happy to be around to watch it happen.
I have never liked the idea of pushing a person on the basis of how much they tarnish another person's career. I have never liked Orton and I do feel he is getting pushed for mainly his name rather than ability. If he does face off against Shelton, he is in real trouble. Shelton likes to move around alot in his matches kinda like a luchador while Randy has a methodic pace. My concern is that they go with Randy's pace which will lead to a bad match for Shelton. However, if they go with Shelton's pace, he'll run rings around Randy. Shelton is going to be the next big thing face or heel.
They really need to move HHH out of the main event picture, because if he gets the title back in one on one match against Benoit, I fear for anymore Benoit pushes. I have heard HHH wants to break Flair's 16 world title reign record, but I don't think that will be advisable since HHH without the belt has lead to bigger ratings and buyrates. If HHH would do a Jericho and stay in the mid-card for awhile it would certainly help get new stars over like Shelton.
I personally dont think the Harley Race thing was disrespectful at all. What we must remember is that wrestling is a circus. As far as the Jeff Hardy reappearance Im looking forward to it and I hope he brings his A game. Now just move Shannon over and you have a faction I would love to see.
I LOVE WRESTLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Bingo, that's the first thing that came to my mind once someone brought up the connection between Race and Orton.
And besides, the spit looked like it only got a glacing shot over Race's head. I feel sorry for the person behind Harley, who may or may not have gotten more of that loogie. :-)
Scott Keith recap quote of the night: "Meanwhile, Lita runs away to the back for sanctuary, into the arms of Mattitude, but Kane destroys him. I guess monsters get blue balls too."
Except for slutty Trish, there's just nothing interesting about the Jericho/Christian feud.
It's a coin flip between nails on a chalkboard and JR saying "Grandmaster Sexay" as the most annoying sound known to man.
That kid that Victoria kissed should be cast as Bobby if there's ever a "King of the Hill" live action movie.
The Eugene thing is actually growing on me. "Special" characters don't have to be offensive. Look at South Park's "Timmy"-- probably the most normal of the bunch.
I cheered for the HHH Green Mist moment. He's had the upper hand in every angle for so long, it's just fun to see him suffer once in a while.
