Now... I know he isn't a wrestler anymore, hence why this ain't in the wrestling section. But I was channel surfing due to insomnia, and behold! TNT is running Jackie Chan's First Strike, which was largely filmed in Australia, and one of the big goons looks like Nathan Jones. I can't be sure, he has hair then. Will check to see during the credits, though TNT sometimes squishes them.

Edit:

Saw the credits and Bah Gawd it's the Australian Hoss himself.... Not that this really matters, or that anyone cares. Just sorta what happens at 3 A.M. your bored, and the t.v. is on.

On a side note, a few of my acquaintances have voiced an opinion that Mr. Chan is gay. This is based just on his plotlines where he gets his chops busted by the female lead and such, and there never is a kiss. While it's kinda baseless, it leads to a question: has Jackie Chan had an onscreen kiss?

He's not gay, but I do know that Jackie Chan is VERY careful about his personal life. When it was revealed to the public that he was married, two female fans killed themselves. It shook Jackie up, and he decided to keep his personal life on the down low.

That said, I think the bumbling, awkward characters that Jackie usually plays is more likely the reason that we don't see him in romantic roles (at least in the U.S. I'm no Jackie Chan movie expert).

Also, while I can't speak for Chan's films specifically, in a lot of Asian cultures it's a little taboo to show any sort of public affection. Not scandalous or anything, and it's definately becoming less of an issue as time goes on, but a lot of Asian films still won't even show a couple kissing on screen.

The reason Jackie doesn't generally play the guy who "gets the girl" is basically because he doesn't feel comfortable doing it. He prefers to concentrate on the action/comedy and avoid the whole issue of romance, and I think he believes that's what his fans would rather see.

Hmph, hadn't heard about the suicides by his fans. In a couple of movies there has been sexual tension, though looking at it a bit closer it does seem that it was set up for situations that were funny, or odd.

Renegade Raine says:

I don't remember which movie it was, but he did kiss some woman (I believe she played his wife), but it was just a peck. It was a long time ago when I watched it though...

EDIT: The only thing I remember about the movie is that it was billed as a sequel in the states, but it was the first of the two movies in Japan. But for the life of me, I can't remember the title.

I've got his autobiography "I am Jackie Chan: My life in Action" and it's quite good. I remember reading that one of the two women threw herself in front of a train. I can't remember how the other one did it.

Think that was "Supercop"

Another thing: I've heard Jackie Chan talk about his admiration for Charlie Chaplin in a few interviews. On-screen Chaplin also came off as being rather light in the loafers...but as far as I know, both were/are hetero. But it really shouldn't matter either way.

For what it's worth, Chan has been married and has an illegitimate child outside of marriage, so he's at least dabbled in the hetero thing.

Chan sticks to action and stays away from love scenes for a simple reason: he knows what he's good at. Good enough for me.
