boldWho do you guys think the Texans will bring in for one or two years to play in front of David Carr? Or, do you think they'll throw Carr to the wolves?

It's a tough call. On one hand, the Cowboys threw Troy Aikman to the wolves his first season (1-15 I believe) and it didn't hurt his development. On the other hand, I think most QBs (like Steve Young) benefit from a year or two playing backup. I say pick up a grizzled veteran to start for the first year anyway.

CNNSI.com says Chandler's going to be most likely a Bear, so I guess that's not going to happen. I know Steve Beuerlein is a Bronco, but maybe he'd want to complete the expansion trifecta and be the Texans' QB.

Could the league be ready for the triumphant return of . . . Steve DeBerg?

BWAH HAH HAH HAH HA!

Other than Bledsoe, are there any decent veteran QB's available? Let's just hope they don't pull Billy Joe Tolliver (or Holbert for that matter) out of mothballs. Maybe they can scour the Arena League for a nice veteran who will already be in a good playing groove after the season is over this year?

I'm just glad my beloved Seahawks kept Dilfer around.

Is Jeff George still around? Seriously, if they're just looking for a veteran QB to fill in for a year or two while a rookie learns the system, he'd be a pretty good fit. Neither George nor Chandler has a lot of time left in the league, so either one would be valuable for grooming your QB of the future. It's really a toss-up though. You throw a rookie QB in the starters' position his first year -- how do you know if he's going to be a Troy Aikman, or a Ryan Leaf? It's one of the reasons I was glad to see San Diego and Atlanta keep Flutie & Chandler in front of Drew Brees and Michael Vick. They might be great college players, but usually, they've had 3-4 years to develop in their program's scheme. You've got to give them at least a year to adapt to something new... right?

I was thinking they would make a run on Jeff Blake in New Orleans. He still got a lot left to give, and hes just sitting on his hands behind Aaron Brooks . Ditto on the Jeff George thing... that guy has said that he doesnt give a damn about being a leader. Other than the fact that George throws the prettiest ball in the NFL, I dont think anyone will take a chance on him. Especially the Texans who dont want him mind fucking their franchise QB. Its a tough deal to find anyone to QB for the Texans because no decent QB wants a job knowing hes just holding it for someone. If that wasnt the case I bet you they would make a move on Drew Bledsoe.

i think blake wants to be the starter, not being given, at the most, a 1 year starting job...that's why he's looking at buffalo.

Why not give University of Houston alumni and Heisman Trophy winner ANDRE WARE the starting job? Seriously I am surprised Jeff Brohm from the XFL didn't get picked up. He looked very good down in Orlando. I mean Pittsburgh picked up Tommy Maddux and he turned out to be really good and earned the #2 spot.

I'm sure former Kentucky QB and AA Baseball standout Pookie Jones is available too. ;-)

Yeah, but that happened to Ronnie Lott anyway, and no wristwatch was involved. I'm fairly certain if it had been a certain purple-wearing team's trainer doing the complaining, you 'd have thought the watch was BRILLIANT. :)
