Well, the draft is coming on Monday's Raw. Who do you think will be picked first by McMahon and Flair?
I say McMahon will pick the Undertaker because Taker is a corporate groupie and he's Flair's nemesis.
I think Flair will pick Stone Cold, because he and Flair are friends and he's McMahon's nemesis.
What do you think? This would be a good way to put guys over as the most important wrestlers in the business. Maybe one of them will choose Brock Lesnar? That would definitely cement his status.
Hell, I'd want him.

I say UT gets snubbed by Vince, and so he decides to be a loner heel. Vince probably grabs either Rocky or Austin first, not because he likes them, just so he can screw Flair and all of the RAW viewers out of having them.

I think Rock will have to be picked for Smackdown since it is his show after all. I don't know how the draft will actually play out without some major players being all on one side making the other look weak since there will be no crowwover except for the champs. The good thing is that it should make the WWF championship more valuable since that person will get a lot more on air time working both TV shows. That brings up another point. Does HHH get drafted by someone or is he put up for grabs when he loses the belt? They should have some guidelines for the draft soon so that will probably tell us more. Unless they are flying by the seat of their pants on this and making it up as they go along. I certainly hope that is not the case. What am I saying this is the WWF.

What I want to know is, will this draft be like the NBA draft?

(Vince McMahon has been on the clock for almost 2 minutes, while everybody waits to see who the first pick will be. Linda McMahon walks on stage.)

Linda: "With the first pick in the WWF Draft, Team Smackdown selects...The Undertaker."

(Undertaker hugs his family and climbs on stage. Vince shakes hands with UT and puts a Smackdown t-shirt and hat on him. UT is fighting back tears.)

But much like the NBA draft, it will get tiresome after the first or second round...

(2 hours later)

Linda: "With the 44th pick in the WWF Draft, Team Raw selects...Funaki." (crowd groans)

You dont think the draft would be that simple do you? Heck this being the wwf they might do some of that but with each owner drafting people that do not necessarily want to be with that owner then you would get the glaring looks, the "god i hate you" from the wrestler's family, and if it's a big time player maybe an actual physical confrontation. I think it could be pretty interesting actually.

Agreed, they've certainly left themselves with a lot of different ways to go about this thing. Tell you the truth, I wouldn't be surprised if Flair picked The Undertaker, so he would have the opportunity to make 'Taker's life a living hell.

My first 10 picks if I was VKM or Flair:

Steve Blackman
Droz
Jerry Lawler
Crash Holly
Haku
Bossman
X-Pac
Justin Credible
Larry Zybyszko
Zorak

But I am neither, I don't have the breasts to back it all up.

Hoo-hah.

Seriously, I hope the first pick from Vince (growled of course): "Scott...STEINERRRRRRR"

Or Dusty. Either's good.

Heh, if I was Vince, I'd take as many top names that I could, and then use the rest of my picks to take all the commentary teams, and try to rob Flair of whatever production team he could get Then I'd sabotage his show like hell.

I wasn`t sure about what Linda said...is it only HHH and Jazz that can go on both shows, or all champs? Because, like at Survivor Series, that helps add to the importance of the belts. And therefore, they don`t get drafted at all.

But yeah, I agree with Rock-to-SD!, Austin-to-RAW and we go from there.

Wasn`t it supposed to be the other way around at one point, with Vince on RAW and Flair on SD? I`m just disappointed because I`ll be at SD next week and have never seen the Nature Boy in person.

I like the idea of doing like a Pro spots (a la NBA, or NHL for us Canucks) draft, the trouble is, there is only two sides.

What would be REALLY cool, is if Vince and Flair trade picks. Have them make some picks (Say 3 or 4 each), then Vince suggests, (To make it interesting) to let the the picks fight matches, and if vince's pick wins then Flair gives up his next pick (In exchange for VInce's 30th pick say) or vice versa if Flair's boy wins.

They need to do something that will appear to give one guy a chance to pad his roster.

Besides, wouldn't Vince Leave Undertaker till later in the Draft, assuming that Flair won't want him, and if he does, then 'Taker can just cause havok for Flair.

The questions revolve around tag teams, in my opinion - it'd be WAY too easy to split up tag teams, as Regal noted on Raw.

I think they should let them draft a tag team at once, but burn up their next pick doing it. Let me explain.

Fourth round: Vince picks the Dudleyz.
Fourth round: Flair makes his own singles pick.
Fifth round: Vince has no pick here, because he burned it up on the Dudleyz.
Fifth round: Flair makes his next pick.
Sixth round: Vince makes another pick.

And so forth.

Don't forget that, because of the conveniently-scheduled title match on Monday, HHH may not _be_ the champ by evening's end. If he doesn't get drafted because he's the champ, then gets pinned by Stephanie or Jericho later that night, what happens to him then?

Will they remember to draft the injured (Benoit, Rhyno, etc.)?

Which team will the Tough Enough 2 winner be assigned to?

Will the commentary teams et al. be involved at all? (I tend to think not, but stranger things have happened.)

Will the rosters be enforced, i.e. wrestlers can't just defect at will, but would need to be released or traded? "Sorry, Matt, we've traded you to Team Vince for Funaki and a jobber-to-be-named-later."

Can one side draft Al Snow and the other side draft Head?

Can one side draft the Hurricane and the other side draft Mild-Mannered Reporter Gregory Helms?

Lots of unanswered questions left to be addressed...

(I say the first six are HHH-Austin-Rock-Angle-Taker-Jericho, in that order, but that's just my take.)

Well, for reasons of time (and because as Swordsman Yen said, no one really gives a shit who gets Funaki, except the occasional Kaientai mark out there), I suspect that they'll just focus the draft on the big names and do the drafting of the Metal/Jakked/developmental fodder behind the scenes, as it were.

Each division would have to get at least one top face and one top heel; I can see Vince going with Rocky and Undertaker, while Flair gets Austin and either Jericho or Angle.

Another thought: Are the nWo included in the draft? Hogan? They'd have to be considered great picks in kayfabe terms, but in reality I'd hate to see either of the owners waste an early pick on them.

So what happens to the tag, IC, Euro, LW, CW, and Hardcore titles? Will they only be defended on whatever show that the respective champions get drafted in? Would retired WCW belts need to be revived to keep a balance of championships on both shows?

I think Angle will go #1 just because it would be yet another accomplishment added to the long list. It just fits his gimmick. And honestly I would pick him first if I was starting a fed.

Or if not, since Vince is picking #1 I think maybe Taker will be chosen.

Is SmackDOWN going to be live after the split? What is this going to mean for house shows? Will each brand have their own shows, or will they be joint shows? How about the PPV's? Are they going to be mega-cards featuring talent from both brands, or will each brand have it's own PPVs? If they do split into two seperate touring brands, what does this mean for the champ? What if RAW is in New York and Smackdown is in California? If Smackdown is live on thursdays then that's no big deal, but if it remains taped on tuesdays, the champ is pretty fucked. If Smackdown goes live, will the smackdown brand tour from Thrus-Sunday and the RAW brand from Friday-Monday? Looks like the champ is going to be working some overtime compared with the rest of company. But of all the questions that can be asked, how the hell do they expect to explain all of this to the fans? It seems really complicated.

I still think they should put a twist on this and make them pick each other's roster. Vince could give Flair UT to make his life painful, and Flair retailiates with Austin. Vince laughing sticks Flair with Gillberg, but Flair hands over the Brooklyn Brawler.

This way, too, you leave the payoff til the end. It would keep viewers better if you had to wait around to see where the top guys go ... with a regular draft, the viewers would see the top four in each side, and then figure "no one else important is coming up, why should I watch?"

It would be awesome if flair in his first couple of picks gets benoit stating something like "Because he was part of my family", then in the later rounds he picks Malenko, then Lessner, then Storm...and there u have the new 4 horseman...mark out city.

Vince takes Rocky; Flair takes Austin.

I second that notion.
I see Flair taking a lot of the WCW guys (Austin, HHH, Jericho) and Vince will take the WWF-made guys (Rock, UT, Hogan, Nash and Hall).

It may be me - but Vince on Smackdown and Flair on Raw seems backwards.
