They held Nash back because they were unsure of Scott Hall actually making it to Wrestlemania. There was a good possibility based on his actions that he would have been fired before then.
You're in a desert, walking along in the sand when all of a sudden you look down and see a tortoise. It's crawling towards you. You reach down and flip the tortoise over on its back. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over. But it can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping.

The bigger concern I have is with Hogan. You all know how the Kidman-Hogan match went. I wonder will Hogan try something similiar with The Rock. Maybe no-sell the Rock Bottom? Maybe get up from the People's Elbow? Maybe block the "Spit Punch"?
I'd pop for Hogan if he powerbombs Rocky through a table.

After Rock sold the leg drop i dont see Hogan getting away with not selling the signature rock moves. But we will see.
Nash was probably held back to give the nWo the menacing 2nd man at ring side to give them the advantage. I dont put much opinion into the rumor that he was just held without a match because of scott hall and his past. I'm sure they were thinking wow.... lets give them an advantage... but i wont disagree that the back up plan idea wasn't a part of the decision too... I just dont think that was the whole reason he was kept without a match.
Nothing wrong with Hogan blocking the spit punch. It'd actually help the match along. I mean if Hogan can block the uberpunch of doom, he might be able to weasel out of Rock's other moves too! Then he might actually win! The outcome of the match is in doubt! That's a good thing!
But if Hogan No-Sells the Spit punch, or the Rock Bottom, of the Elbow, then it's all over, and just stupid stupid stupid.

Hey, if Hogan blocks the spit punch, do you think Good Ol' JR would be able to say something like "Hogan's got that move scouted, King. He's really prepared to take the Rock down." and actually put the freaking match OVER? Nah. Commentators don't need to do any such thing. He just needs to hype tomorrow night's RAW.

It wouldn't be the first time it happened. For reference, from the sent-but-not-yet-posted Year in Quotes 2001: -- Rock comes back - right, right, right, NOW KISS THAT RIGHT, Show still on his feet. Rock says "didn't you see me spit in my hand?" and does it again. Show STILL up - Rock's all "dammit, I SPIT IN MY FIST - GO DOWN ALREADY" - and the *third* spit punch *does* indeed put Show off his feet...and through the commentary table. But Rock is down as well - that took a lot (of saliva) out of him.

Right, and that's the Big Show, the only man to kick out of the People's Elbow. That's his gimmick, dammit, a guy who's so huge that you have to do everything you can to try and put him away. And ya know what? I was perfectly fine with Big Show kicking out of the People's Elbow. That's his job, to kick out of things that would finish a smaller man (and he jobs all the time, so don't give me shit about not putting people and their finishers over), but that's not Hogan's thing. Hogan shouldn't be Hulking Up out of other people's finishers unless he's a face and the crowd is behind him (just like Rock does all the time, and we still go wild for it. Mega Faces are awesome like that). As a heel he should be cheating all the time, and he should be a smart heel (that's what age and experience does, makes you smart) at Wrestlemania and should have all of Rock's moves scouted. Rock goes for the Spit Fist, Hogan blocks and knees him in the groin. But if Rock ever hits the Rock Bottom on Hogan, Hogan should not kick out unless it's one of those, "Rock's too tired to make the cover, King!" types of things.
I've only just started posting on this forum, but I was wondering if anyone else thinks that Kevin Nash should fight DDP as his first feud, as a way to resolve their unfinished tag-team storyline. It seems like nothing from WCW carried over into the WWF, and I don't think that that's necessarily a good thing.
Here is a guy who was champ during one of the lowest points in WWF history. His only real peak was during the first NWO, but then helped to kill the federation. As booker, he stunk. As a wrestler, he stunk.
Please, someone explain this guy to me....

I am a fan of Big Sexy Kevin Nash. I think he can be funny at times and it is awesome to see him use the powerbomb on people. Yes i know he's not the greatest wrestler (by far) and his move set is limited. But that doesn't mean i have to hate him. The crowd pops for him (at least it did before this mostly blown nWo angle) so i dont think by far that i am the only fan of his.
I am the JOBBER TO THE STARS. You better remember that.
Whilst Nash is no great shakes in the ring, it really pisses me off to see people (ie. Scott Keith) say things like "Nash blew every move he attempted". I saw the RAW match last night (being a Brit and all) and actually thought that Nash looked the LEAST lethargic out of the three nWoites. His moves weren't blown at all, and in fact the only stutter-step I saw was the hesitant selling of the Thesz Press.
Nobody has taken more , and given less than Nash. Nash is the worst WWF Champ , and one of the worst Wcw's champs. If not for Hall personal problems he'd likely have a more decorated career than Nash. Hall is better on mic way way better in ring his cardboard cutout was more over than Nash. Nash has always been at the right place right time.
Well, I think all three guys, when they are on, and giving it their all, are great assets to any wrestling organization.
Hogan has that Charisma, Fan appeal (God Knows Why), and the Savy of how to work a crowd. Let's assume that his rumored Rib injury (Watch him hold his side after his Mania Match) is true, he still put on a hell of an entertaining match (Credit to both him and the Rock)
Hall is usually pretty good in the ring, and has that cool demeanor, plus he can be good on the Mic.
Nash is okay in the ring, AT BEST, but his Mic work can be great.
In WCW these guys were (According to the ever reliable net rumors) self centered, self serving pussy pricks (And according to one website, from an alternate future) who played backstage politics, partied with the moron calling the shots (Uncle Eric) and were a very negative moral object for the company. However they were kept around (And originally hired) because their percieved value was needed in the Monday Night wars (God I miss those days). They were in the driver's seat then.
NOW, if they want to work, they play ball with Vince on his terms. He didn't need the NWO. I don't know what the contracts for these guys look like, but if Vince (The Business guy) is half as shrewd as a lot of Wrestlers claim (when not in character I mean) I'm sure that he told them, point blank "You pull that politicing shit on me, Your asses are back on the Unemployment line" So if big Kev is Pissed, he's probably not being half as vocal as reports claim he is.
Of course for any of us to say what we'd do as Nash, is absurd. Hell, I bet any one of us would work every day of the week (And twice on Saturdays) just to be part of the WWF. But then again, we ain't wrestlers, and we ain't paid our dues.
"Money's the Same whether you earn it or scam it" Bobby "The Brain" Heenan "Will you stop!" Gorilla Monsoon after just about everything Heenean says. "Welcome to Monday NYQUIL, where the Big boys Play with each other": Steve Austin, in ECW imitating his former boss Eric Bischoff.
Nash's promo last night was the best thing he's done in years. He looked so seriously angry he was almost shaking. About time. He works better as an angry giant than a cocky cool giant.

No, actually Nash didn't wrestle because Vince and Nash had a meeting and agreed it was best for him not to because they both know he's not what he once was.
I don't believe any of these rumors about them being unhappy. I mean Nash has wrestled what, two matches? MAYBE, he is unhappy, but I doubt Hogan is, he seems to be pretty good backstage.
Even Bret Hart likes him, and Bret doesn't like anyone anymore.
I just have never really seen the appeal - maybe I mssed one of Nash's better matches, or maybe I just simply don't get it. But it seems that most everything he touches (with the exception of the first appearance of the NWO) has flopped significantly - his title reigns, his booking, etc.
And just don't see him being much better now.
