They should've been doing this a long time ago. Starrcade or Bash At The Beach, for example, has much more of a brand name than Vengeance or Unforgiven.
""[The word] liberal derives from the Latin 'liberalis' - of freedom, befitting the free. Synonyms are progressive, broad-minded, unprejudiced and generous; while antonyms include reactionary, narrow-minded, intolerant and stingy. Accordingly, a political liberal is an open-minded person who considers all the arguments before drawing conclusions. A conservative, on the other hand, clings to one position and sees no reason to entertain diverse viewpoints because he already has his mind made up. Are mainstream media 'liberal'? I certainly hope so." -~Forrest Wood~-
I think its great that they are bringing that back, but one question... Didnt Dusty Rhodes copyright some of the old WCW PPV names? and wasnt that one of them?

According to his shoot interview he DIDN'T copyright them, which he also said he regrets not doing. But it also allowed WCW to use the names whether he was involved with the company or not.
Nice way to make people forget about the King of the Ring tournament. If WCW had the names trademarked it only makes sense that the WWE would use the most identifiable names. It also gives the WWE another reason to put out a Great American Bash historical DVD.
(I really do like the idea even though my post does sound sarcastic.)
Are you a professional halfwit or talented amateur?
From the article, it sounds like this is an extra ppv, and that they plan to add another this year. So June will be the first month where both shows have seperate ppv's. And then again in October. I wonder if it will make any differnce on prices though?
Edit: Checking WWE ppv calendar, they do have two scheduled for June and October.
This shows that Vince is changing (or maybe becoming soft) in his old age. Wasn't it just back in 2001 when Vince turned down the idea of renaming the Armageddon PPV "Starrcade" because a PPV (even when it's full of WWF wrestlers) would never draw if it has a WCW name?
The answer to WWE's financial problems...
Never 'Wiener of the Day', and is actually quite bitter about it.

Hopefully they will bring back War Games (Evolution vs. ????) and Starrcade (10/19?) as well?
If I'm not mistaken, War Games is one idea that Dusty did copyright back in the day (Lethal Lottery being the other). It's a shame, because I think War Games would go over like crazy today.

If they were ever going to bring back WarGames, they missed the perfect opportunity during the Invasion angle. WarGames would have been a great way to handle the 10 man match at the Invasion PPV and especially great for the "winner takes all" 10 man match that ended the Invasion angle.

THAT could be a great DVD! Just look at some of the things they could choose from. The 1st and 2nd WarGames featuring the Four Horsemen vs. The Superpowers and Road Warriors, the best of 7 series for the U.S. Championship with Magnum T.A. vs. Nikita Koloff, several choices from possibly the greatest PPV ever Bash '89 (Flair vs. Funk, Sting vs. Muta, another WarGames), plus a huge selection of Midnight Express vs. Rock & Roll Express and Ric Flair World Title defenses vs. pretty much the entire late '80s talent roster.
Would WWE even USE the term "War Games" now, with what's going on in Iraq? (not to mention the rest of the world). Isn't that why they stopped calling it "RAW IS WAR" and "THE WAR ZONE" on Monday Nights?
I don't care what they do, but they should have The Great American Bash each year @ the now 1st Mariner Arena here in Baltimore like they used too. MEMORIES

Hey I liked Halloween HaVoc. I think it was my first WCW PPV I ever ordered. It's certainly more catchy then No Way Out. And InVasion totally stole the oversized V idea... Starrcade should come back to in December, better then some lame Bruce Willis asteroid movie title.
So WWE brings back The Great AMERICAN Bash, or in sub-titled No Canadian's Allowed... Might explain some of the Americanization of the roster

Will they push you over the edge when they give Trish an American home? ;-) If they do, I nominate Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We already have plenty of Canadians here, especially at this time of year. We have a Can-Am week and many of the businesses (hotels, restaurants, etc.) fly Canadian and American flags. Plus, I can give her a place to stay occasionally to legitimize the claim. I will even sacrifice some of my time to put sun tan lotion on Trish. Damn, I'm a generous guy! :-)
Not that the current PPV names are awesome or anything, but I think the old WCW names SUCK. "Wargames," "Starrcade," "Great American Bash." One is an eighties movie. The other is a weird-ass play on the word "arcade," which had nothing to do with wrestling, and contains an unforgivable, gross use of a double r. The final one sounds like a Slaughter, Winger, and Enuff Znuff concert tour.
Salami, I predict your sig will someday rival Kibo's.

How about a yearly CLASH OF THE CHAMPIONS which would be on either UPN or SPIKE TV and feature cross show matches like World Champ vs. World Champ and the two seperate Tag Champs going at it?

Is this really how Sting wants to end his career? I don't mind Sting with the TNA title. I thought he actually had a good run earlier this year. But, this wannabe-Joker thing?
