Justin-I'm pretty sure there's only one other SD!-only PPV between JD and SummerSlam. Badd Blood(?) in June is Raw-only, then there's the ~MYSTERY MEAT PPV~ which-I read somewhere probably totally disreputable, although it would make sense-would be a SmackDown show. Then, Vengeance is Raw-only and the cycle remains crazy-fucked-up 'til the uber-stupid Tuesday show puts it right again in October. So I guess they only have to fill in one stopgap ME between doing the Angle rematch at SS. I'd say Big Show but the JBL match is gonna suck so bad they need something with li'l more fire. Booker? Sad as it is, that probably would do about twelve notches less than gangbusters too. 'Specially after Taker's done with him.

Also, they should bring "Fully Loaded" out of mothballs ONLY if a three-sheets-to-the-wind Debra does slurrific ring-announcing for the opening contest.

"Have you ever been to a live event where Taker was wrestling?"

I surely have. (Oddly enough, there's been less and less people there every time I've gone since 2001.)

"If you really think Taker doesn't put asses in the seats, then, no offense, but maybe you don't really understand what the phrase means."

All I have been trying to say is that considering he's only been on TV once, there's no evidence that WWE wouldn't be doing the exact same business across the board if Undertaker wasn't there, as he wasn't from SurSer through Mania. I'm not trying to tear down Undertaker or say that he isn't popular or that people don't buy his merchandise. But his coming back hasn't affected WWE business in any way positively or negatively, so saying he is "putting asses in the seats right now" doesn't really mean anything, because it implies that if Undertaker wasn't there, then those asses wouldn't be there, and I don't think that's true.

I'd like to apologize in advance to Mr. Randy Stilton the stinky cheese man, who probably made the comment as a throwaway and didn't expect it to lead to 15 posts. But still.

"It's amazing at how Eddie and Benoit are the champs but everyone is still screaming about people being held down."

Wouldn't it only be amazing if people were screaming about Eddie and Benoit being held down?

osh: "Then, Vengeance is Raw-only and the cycle remains crazy-fucked-up 'til the uber-stupid Tuesday show puts it right again in October."

WHAT. I guess that makes more sense, come to think, but that means Vengeance doesn't get to develop a storied history of Smackdown Brand PPVs.

Sorry man, I must have misunderstood what you said about putting asses in the seats. You're right, he's only been on TV once so it's too early to tell.

However, I feel safe in saying that the Undertaker's return as the Deadman was a big reason why Wrestlemania did good numbers. It was a selling point for a lot of people I know anyway.

I don't have as much a problem with Undertaker taking Booker T to task as most do. The way I see it, the WWE is NEVER going to get behind Booker. Not when the know he wants to retire soon. So, it's Booker in a high profile fued with Taker or Booker in a midcard fued with, say Bob Holly.

The problem with that reasoning is that Booker is likely next in line as challenger to Eddie. Having Taker dispose of Booker not only hurts Book, but also Eddie. Eddie needs credible challengers to solidify his run as champ. Nobody believes that that Bradshaw has a chance of beating Eddie, and feeding Book to Taker will only serve to put Book in the same "has no shot" category.

What they *should* do is have Book go over Taker. That way, not only will fans buy into Book as a credible challenger to Eddie, but even when Eddie comes out on top, Book is still positioned as a top heel on SD, something that the show is lacking right now.

How about waiting to worry about Taker squashing Booker if and when it ever happens on TV? It's house shows. They get a big pop out of Taker showing up to interrupt Booker's heel promos, and Booker doesn't have to wrestle on his bad back.

Booker isn't going to be less of a contender to wrestle Eddie because he got beat at a house show in Mobile, Alabama. And even if he WAS, one TV angle to boost him back up in the eyes of the Mobilians is all you gotta do.
