I've rated 72 people. My ratings are more or less spread evenly among the grades.

In the context of baseball, the use of drugs hurts only the player. In the context of baseball, the use of alcohol hurts only the player. In the context of baseball, womanizing hurts whom? Maybe the wife of the player? In the context of baseball, felonies are crimes against society, not against baseball. In the context of baseball, gambling is the only crime against baseball.

Gambling, in the context of baseball, is a capital offense and Rose has richly earned-- hell, he agreed to-- his death sentence. Let him hang.

I feel like such a loser for never rating anyone now. Here's my problem. With the exception of people in power, the people I most enjoy reading typically weigh in around the 4-6 area. I'm assuming that's because they're offensive (as opposed to sugary sweet) enough to tick someone off to the point of getting a low score, yet they are intelligent enough to rationally explain their points which in turn is then rewarded by someone giving them a high rating.

So if I did rate, I would be severely tempted to give someone I like a "5". Somehow that just doesn't seem fair to them if others use the ratings differently.

I'm such a geek, I make an major effort to spread all my voting evenly. Every rating # have four votes except for "5" which has eight votes to it. When I see one Rating # overriding the others I start bumping people in that rating # up/down a spot from that number(usually up, because it's way easier to rate new bad posters). Most of the time I peg people evenly unless I can't then I do the bumping others up... I haven't voted in a while. I don't usually give higher ratings if you agree with me or not, mostly if you state your point well and are nice to others.

I might give an extra point to someone who I feel is lower then it deserves, but on the other hand I don't take points off someone who I think is surprisingly high, I have a feeling they have a high mark cause people like him, maybe I just don't get it, I dont' feel right to drop him from my original thought of 4 to a 3 because he's ranked high from others but I have given someone a 5 when initially I think he's a 4 just because his overall rating is in the Two's.

10's are the standout great posters who's opinion means so much more then a name on a messageboard. 8-9's are people I look forward and respect their opinion. 6-7's are people who give an effort and on the most part are a good read. 5's are usually people who I'm okay with or who have a undeservingly bad rating ... 0-2 is usually reserve to people I find rude. If your pointless rude then a zero it is, if you make a point but rude then a 2 for you. It depends if your being rude on purpose LoL, some people just come off as jerks and cant' really help it they might get a higher end scale. 3-4 has potential to get to "5", just happen to be more off then on.

I'm still so very interested in able to see your own rating breakdown and how people voted for you(of course without showing who actually voted for you)... I know the dilemma of if the average of total #of votes/addition of all ratings comes out higher then the actual Rating Listed then you know authorities on here then lower of you then the average and vise versa. But it's still interesting. Heck I don't even know who's votes has more influence.

I rate in the same way sometimes. If someone is rated really low, but I feel that it is because they are argumentative but still make good points usually, then I will make an effort to rate them higher. People like OSH who try to support their assertion, however unpopular it may be, will get more respect (ratings) from me.

Here are the few that I've rated ...

10s: 2
09s: 1
08s: 1
07s: 4
06s: 3
05s: 5
04s: 4
03s: 4
02s: 2
01s: 0
00s: 5

It's more or less a pretty balanced curve. The Mean (I believe it's called) is a 4.51 which happens to be slightly above where I'm rated. I do admit that some of the lower ratings I gave out when my own rating dipped. I'm a vengful person, but it when it went up a few ticks and so did my ratings. After reading this thread I adjusted a few of the lower ones I handed out. All in all I probably should give out some more high ones.

While doing mine I noticed some I need to get around to rerating. But for now, I have the following:

10-19
9- 13
8- 14
7- 10
6- 12
5- 10
4- 4 (spooooky)
3- 3 (totally didn't plan those)
2- 5
1- 5
0- 24

10 - 12
9 - 5
8 - 19
7 - 29
6 - 16
5 - 49
4 - 19
3 - 39
2 - 28
1 - 16
0 - 58

I actually didn't think that I was a huge voter. I have tended to go on 'voting sprees', which can be unfair if someone who usually posts well happens to say something particularly dumb when I am handing out votes, however I usually re-visit them at some point. On compiling this list I've realised that I need to tweak some votes. I'm going to drop about 75% of the 10's down to a 9 and leave the 10's to the posters that I actually seek out as their posts are always Hilarious / eloquently controversial, so that would leave Dean, Jeb, HMD and possibly LinearRO for the effort he puts into those lines reports. There are also some guys in the 2's and 3's that need to be pushed up. For some reason I had tomk as a 2, so there's one thats getting re-done. I am happy with the 0's. They are either troll's and a lot have been banned, people who are annoying, or people I find annoying. Looking at the spread, maybe the group of people 'that I find annoying' could be bumped to 1's.

I'm sure you'll all sleep better at night knowing all this.

I've always wondered why I'm so lowly rated... must've pissed off some group with somethng I've said.

Upon noting that, I saw that my rating had gone up a point and a half. Heh.

I'm not loved, that's ok.

I've rated twice, I gave a 10 to Pike cause I thought his rating was far too low and I rated Jaguar a 1 that I honestly DON'T REMEMBER DOING and I'm SORRY for it. Perhaps I did it out of spite or something at one time but I plan on changing it really soon.

Supposed to say 'Pike' not Pikeman, EH! It's all the same I guess. Oh yeah, and Jaguar no longer has the 1 rating, which I STILL have no idea why I did that.

Woo! The love from Cerebus pulled me out of the depths of 'Meh' to a solid 'Eh'. I realize talking about your rating usually encourages people to fuck with it, but (at least for a time) I was rated in the sixes, and that's kind of happy-making.

As a side note, I had failed to rate Cerebus before now. So I've decided to go back through and make sure everyone in this thread has been rated by me (Except for Zed, of course).

I in NO WAY, took away the bad rating for THAT reason. I just honestly had NO IDEA why I had that one bad rating for someone. Perhaps I was drunk or you posted something I vehemently disagreed with or WHATEVER. I wish there was a way to go back and actually SEE the posts that we gave ratings for, but alas...

The Maniac Says:    I was told that people who have been here longer have more power when they rate you. Someone who has been here for a short period effects you less. If they have a good rating this will also way more heavily when they rate you. Is this correct?

You got that right. My post in this thread somehow caused my rating to drop almost an entire point...

Why no love for Zed? I gave the man a 10. In total I've given six 10s, one 8, one 3 and four 0s. 1 of those 0s is definitely still here, 2 were still here a week ago and one I haven't seen for ages.

I've given out:

10's - 7
9's - 6
8's - 9
7's - 11
6's - 10
5's - 5
4's - 0
3's - 1
2's - 4
1's - 10
0's - 12

If I see someone who's rating is lower than my own, and I feel they shouldn't be lower than me I'll try to bump it up a little.

Actually it's more likely that it was this:

I was right. One glance into the wrestling folder and I'm already dropping people's ratings

And by the way, I thought it was going to be a burning 2x4 wrapped in barbwire. C'mon people, you don't need a box shaped like that for the Mankind mask, or the Cactus Jack shirt...

Oh, yeah it very well could have been that one. I just can't see it now after reading all the books and seeing all the interviews with the goofy father of three, Mick Foley. The old Cactus promos I can still believe in when I see them, but this newer lovable Mick Foley playing psycho isn't working for me. Then again this board surprised me with the Hulk Hogan love fest that happened last year so what the hell do I know
