I was just at PWinsider.com and come across this headline. Hopefully, its not an April Fools Joke:
"The Rise and Fall of ECW DVD that World Wrestling Entertainment is currently producing has been pushed back to a November release. The delay is being made to push up the release of the WWE double-disc Hall of Fame DVD set to a 6/1 release.
The Hall of Fame DVD set will feature the complete 3/13 2004 Hall of Fame induction ceremonies from Wrestlemania XX weekend in New York City, as well as classic match footage, video features, and comments from current WWE stars on the legends. Inducted into the Hall of Fame that weekend were Jesse Ventura, The Junkyard Dog, Bobby Heenan, Big John Studd, Harley Race, Superstar Graham, Don Muraco, Sgt. Slaughter, Pete Rose, Greg Valentine, and Tito Santana.
WWE is currently in production on "The Bret Hart Collection", which I suspect will be similar to the "Ultimate Ric Flair Collection" that was released last year and turned out to be the best selling WWE DVD release to date. A Bret Hart DVD has been discussed seemingly forever as the one DVD WWE fans would want, and now they will get their wish. There is no set release for the disc, but they may try to rush it out for a November release to catch the Christmas season.
Also currently in production is a double disc Eddie Guerrero set (due 9/28) and a November Rob Van Dam DVD. There will be a Chris Benoit DVD released in July."
Glad to see they are going with a double disc set for Eddie. And the Hart collection....HOLY SHIT!!!!!!
Marco: But we can chew nails and shoot 'em out as bullets, right? Quinn: Nails, chains -- you won't have titanium teeth for nothing. Murphy: Nails are like candy to robots! And we'll eat tires instead of licorice. Debbie: GAH! No we won't!! Murphy: Maybe YOU won't.
Oh yes this better be true. What a year for DVDs from WWE, atleast they're getting something right. All of those sound awesome. Even though the wait until near year's end will have me anxious. :0
Jesus Christ, is the WWE Home Video department trying to bankrupt me or something?
Ever since the Shawn Michaels compilation, these guys have REALLY stepped it up. With the ECW, Four Horsemen, Hall of Fame, Chris Beniot, Eddie Guerrero, Rob Van Dam, and Bret Hart DVDs all being rumored/confirmed, then I am expecting to have zero dollars left by the end of the year to, y'know, keep me alive.
The answer to WWE's financial problems...
Never 'Wiener of the Day', and is actually quite bitter about it.
Not that Bret doesn't deserve his own DVD, but what could they put in it that we haven't already seen? The only thing that immediately springs to mind is his first title win against Flair in Canada. But I think Coliseum has the rights to that.
As for everything else.... Iron Man match, Mania 13, Mania X, the cage match with Owen, his Mania match against Piper... what else is there?
Now, if they busted out the original ladder against HBK, or dug up some old Stampede stuff, THAT could be interesting.

I realize I'm not in the majority of the potential audience for this one, but since I didn't see Hart the first time around, it's all new. Yes, they ARE trying to bankrupt us. I haven't even scraped up the cash for my husband's birthday present yet--Flair or Michaels? I'm so torn...
- Hart Foundation vs. Bulldogs, title change - Hart vs. Savage, SNME 1987 - Hart vs. Perfect, SumSlam 1991 - Hart vs. Piper, WM 8 - Hart vs. Bulldog, SumSlam 1992 - Hart vs. Flair, Canada - Hart vs. Michaels, original ladder match - Hart vs. Michaels, SurSer 1992 - Hart vs. Lawler, SumSlam 1993 (not legendary, but still great) - Harts vs. Quebecers, RR 94 - Bret vs. Owen, WM 10 - Bret vs. Owen, SumSlam 1994 (even though it's already on the cage match DVD) - Hart vs. Backlund, SurSer 1994 - Hart vs. Hakushi - Hart vs. Diesel, SurSer 1995 - Hart vs. HBK, WM 12 - Hart vs. Austin, SurSer 1996 - Hart vs. Taker vs. Austin vs. Vader, Final Four - Hart vs. Austin, WM 13 - Hart vs. Austin, Revenge Of Taker (I think...) - Canadian Stampede 10-man tag - Hart vs. Undertaker, One Night Only - Hart vs. HBK, SurSer 1997 (for significance reasons only) - Hart vs. Flair, WCW SuperBrawl (I think...) - Hart vs. Benoit, WCW Nitro Owen tribute match
I'm probably missing some, but some of these will suffice. :)
Anyone know just how much revenue the WWE DVD division pulls in? If they keep playing their cards right, they can make a shitload of money off their WCW/ECW/WWE/F library.
On another side note, exactly how did Vince aquire the ECW library? Did he buy it off Heyman or did Heyman give it to him or were third parties involved?

I believe Heyman sold the video rights to WWE shortly before, or even during his bankruptcy hearings.
Otherwise, for a HART DVD, hopefully they could do a three disc one, like with flair. The first could be the old Stampede days (I assume VKM has the rights to the footage) second the Tag Team Years, third the Champ/wcw years.

Good list. But is there exclusive or rare stuff that we haven't seen to make it a big seller, like the Flair DVD?
And would Bret come in to do narration? Would be sort've odd if he wasn't.

Is anyone else a trifle uneasy that this news is breaking on April 1st?
"The Republican National Committee announced today that the Republican Party is changing its emblem from an elephant to a condom. The Republican committee chairman explained that the condom more clearly reflects the party's stance today, because a condom accepts inflation, halts production, precludes a next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and offers a sense of security while you're actually getting screwed."
Well, my video sales friend has told me that the ECW dvd is being delayed (due to legal issues) and that the Hall of Fame dvd is replacing it.It's not a joke, just a timing thing.

Go with the Flair one. It'll be money well spent. 10 1/2 hours, with about 9 plus of those hours being very good/great/excellent.
Why is TVLand stealing my ideas from DEAN's Workrate Report's? They had to be stealing, as I thought I had the only demented mind that could put Bea Arthur and Abe Vigoda in a sex scene.
Great news!! I will definetly buy the Benoit, RVD and Hitman DVDs (and of course WM XX)!
Now there´s only one more DVD I need: Best of Chris Jericho!
My picks for the Bret Hart DVD:
disc one: Stampede wwe debut Hart F vs. Bulldogs (tag title #1) Hart F vs. Demolition (tag#2) Hart F vs. Rockers vs. Perfect (ic title #1) vs. Michaels (1st ever ladder match) vs. Bulldog (ssl) vs. Piper (ic#2) disc two: vs. Flair (wwe title #1) vs. Owen (wm) vs. Yoko (#2) vs. Owen (cage) vs. Diesel (#3) vs. Shawn (wm) disc three: vs. Austin (sss) vs. Austin vs. Taker vs. Vader (#4) vs. Austin (wm) vs. Austin (raw) Hart F vs. Austin,Shamrock,LOD&Goldust vs. Taker (#5) vs. Benoit (owen tribute) vs. Benoit (wcw title)
I personally wouldn't mind seeing Bret's first world title win and early defenses for the belt on there. Like his match with Shawn Michaels for the world title at Survivor Series 1992. I can't find that one anywhere.
For the Benoit DVD, I'd really like to see the Royal Rumble on there. I mean other than the Rumble match, it was such a crappy show...I really don't want to have to buy that tape or DVD. If the Rumble match is on Benoit's DVD this summer...hey no problems .

Yeah, but then that would cut into sales for the Rumble DVD if they did that, and I don't think the WWE would be having any of that noise, and for good reason.
Besides... I think the Triple H/Shawn Michaels match at the Royal Rumble was brutal. So that makes at least two matches on the card that are worth seeing.
Regarding having the Rumble match on the Benoit DVD... if the Benoit DVD's coming out this summer, I can't imagine WWE being all that concerned about cutting into the sales of the Rumble DVDs. The Rumble's already been out on DVD since February, and I doubt it'll necessarily be a hot-seller by the time they get to the summer.
Besides, the Rumble match was one of Benoit's most important victories in his entire career. You want to assemble a Benoit DVD, you put the Rumble match on there, and follow it with the WrestleMania XX main event.

Huh. Seems like a lot of fans who were told "just quit watching if you hate it so much" finally decided "okay, F this". I got to see two St Louis indie wrestlers I know make it onto television: Savanna Stone (vs. Nia)
