I work in a bar(Keifer's in Virginia Beach VA) and I want to get some cool videos together to show while were open. Ive got an idea for some sports (And One stuff, Football greatest hits, Wrestling videos ETC.) I want to avoid stuff like Bumfights, because I don't think our owners would go for it. I want to do Kung Fu flicks but I dont know what to choose.
Anybody have any suggestions? Remember it wont be heard, just seen.
"I want what you want. Yes, that's it Mr. Anderson. Look past the flesh, look through the soft gelatin of these dull cow eyes and see your enemy."
Not fighting, but Crusty Demons of Dirt is usually popular in bars.
Another is if you can get a video that chronicles a boxers career (matches not a doco). I saw one (no sound) in a bar a while ago that featured Prince Hazeem (??) that was pretty cool.

Back in my days working and running clubs, we used to show lots of hentai and or anime and then we'd put in something like Traces of Death.. this WAS a goth/industrial club though.

There's a really good video called "Bruce Lee and the Kung-Fu Movie Trailers," or something close to that, which is just trailers for all these old kung-fu movies. It works better than a movie as it doesn't have any lengths of talking in it. I've even seen it playing at a bar before.
*looks at the logo* Check out some of the movies that are in the Wu-Tang collection. They're usually some low-end but funny to watch chop-socky flicks.
Another fun thing to put on would be the videos with all the government films from the 50's (Atomic Cafe comes to mind).

I'd recommend Five Deadly Venoms -- it's my favorite '70s chopsocky and it's been getting some play on cable lately so you might be able to tape it off there. I believe it also has the Wu-Tang seal of approval. Basically if a movie is produced by the Shaw Brothers, you're on the right track.
Newer HK stuff, I'd recommend The Naked Killer and Heroic Trio for the added benefit of foxy laaaaaadies so that's fun to look at. Tai Chi Master (with Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh) is my favorite from the '90s era, that's a good fighty one.
I think every bar I've been to has shown Barbarella in the background at least once, but despite the rampant boobery that might be a little "gay" for your clientele. If perceived gayness is not a concern, I'd say that, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls,Spirits of the Dead and anything Federico Fellini directed between 1960 and 1976 would be visually intriguing enough to make people wonder WTF. Although they could just as easily wonder "Did some gay dude pick this crap?" So if it's like a sports bar, then everything in this graf would be a definite no.
If you can show boobs AND blood AND scenes of brutal grisly murder, then by all means get some Dario Argento movies, although they do lose their aura without the hot soundtrack music.
About a year ago, some company put out a series of DVDs like this one. It's called Ultimate Fights, and it's nothing but a series of fight scenes from a variety of action movies. (Gladiator, Crouching Tiger, Rambo, several Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee movies, etc.) Seems pretty pointless as something to sit and watch, but it's really made for something like this.
There's at least one more - Boogeyman: The Killer Compilation compiling death scenes from slasher/horror movies.
"The Republican National Committee announced today that the Republican Party is changing its emblem from an elephant to a condom. The Republican committee chairman explained that the condom more clearly reflects the party's stance today, because a condom accepts inflation, halts production, precludes a next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and offers a sense of security while you're actually getting screwed."
To cerebus- Im slapping my head for not thinking of Anime. But faces of death is a no no, I think
To BF- Ill try some of your stuff. Were a military/ college mixed in with a bunch of tourist during the summer. Maybe theyll go for it. Ill throw it against the wall and see if it sticks.
