Is it true that the house is officially a national historic site? I seem to remember reading that at one point, but I could see that being made up. If so, that could explain why the thing hasn't sold yet...with such a designation comes a lack of freedom on the part of the owner in terms of what they can do with it.
I believe it was honoured with a sign designating it a historical site by the city of Calgary, not by the government of Canada. I don't think the strict heritage laws apply to local historical sites.
