I know that this thread has seen this board before in many forms, but, here I go anyway.
-How many years until Orton is World champion ? And , could he make it as a face/fan favorite ?
-Would a Triple-H (or Ric Flair) versus Randy Orton match up pull money ?
-How long until John Cena is WWE champion ?
-How long until Batista is World champion ? Or, will he ever ?
-And, who will be more successful in the next 2-3 years ? Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas, Jindrak, Orton, Batista, Cena, Cade, Rene Dupri (or anybody else)?
I hope that the WWE molds it's new talent well into being the future of the business. I believe they have a lot of potential sparks. Could a young star be the next Steve Austin/Hulk Hogan ??? What do you think ?

1. Orton may never be World Champion. Tazz was once thought of as a sure-fire WWF Champion...but he's announcing now. Circumstances change. 2. Any match promoted well with good build-up will draw money. 3. See #1. 4. See #1. 5. In 1995, Steve Austin was the Ringmaster. Two years later, he was WWF Champion in the main event of WrestleMania in the best promoted match of all-time. Nobody knows what's going to happen in the future. All the guys you've mentioned have potential...but that's why it's called potential.

Well you're no fun Freeway, you're right, but still no fun. I will go out on a limb and say Orton, Cena, AND even Batista will be Heavyweight Champion at some point in time. Orton probably being the soonest, Batista probably being the last.
Triple H/Orton COULD make money, but it would have to be done right, and who knows if WWE will pull it off right.
Personally i like Haas the best out of the young talent, but a lot of people seem to think Shelton is the man. I'd probably take either of the two over the rest.
With the way Cena is going, I wouldn't be surprised to see him as WWE champion by the end of 2004. I think that Vince will take a chance of having Cena run with the ball, after Eddie drops the title to Booker or whoever.
Orton is coming up, and I do expect some world title shots, but I don't see him winning the title for a while yet. Orton has gotten the slow build while Cena is more of a "strike while the iron is hot" case.
The worst choice of the list is Cade. He does one move well (the flying elbow) but the rest of him is too vanilla.
In the entire 42 year history of the WWWF/WWF/WWE, only 31 men have held the WWE Championship (this swells to 33 if you include RAW's splinter title).
Buddy Rogers, Bruno Sammartino, Ivan Koloff, Stan Stasiak, Superstar Billy Graham, Bob Backlund, Antonio Inoki, The Iron Sheik, Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Randy Savage, The Ultimate Warrior, Sergeant Slaughter, The Undertaker, Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Yokozuna, Diesel, Shawn Michaels, Psycho Sid, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kane, The Rock, Mankind, Triple H, Vince McMahon, The Big Show, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, Brock Lesnar, Goldberg, Eddie Guerrero & Chris Benoit
Is it possible that John Cena or Randy Orton will join them someday? Maybe. But with maybe one or two exceptions, most of these guys we didn't forsee wearing the ten pounds of gold. Of the aforementioned, I'd say John Cena has the best chance of wearing the gold...but all of them still need some work to be great wrestlers.

Wow..only 33? that was a small surprise to me.. I do believe that Orton will hold the belt some day. I acually thing that he will turn out alright in a few years and be a decent ma9in eventer. Cena I somehow have less confidence in. Batista? Naaah...maybe he'll be fed to the champ some day but never hold the title.
As for most promising talent. Haas/Benjamin are obviously the best wrestlers so I'd love it if they came to the top. I don't expect it though. Then again, they are young.. I think we will be able to say more about them in about a year.

Wha. Who considered Tazz a sure thing WWF champion? Tazz? Bill Alphonso?
And basically everything COULD make money if it's promoted right! You geniuses!

An interesting question should they get to that point: Will they end up regretting throwing away Cena's first PPV World Title match last April against Lesnar, a match he had less than zero chance of coming out of with the belt? That does eliminate the first time Cena has gone for the Gold storyline.
(edited by redsoxnation on 26.3.04 2255) Why is TVLand stealing my ideas from DEAN's Workrate Report's? They had to be stealing, as I thought I had the only demented mind that could put Bea Arthur and Abe Vigoda in a sex scene.

You'd have a small problem promoting a match with Loch Ness in, he died a couple of years ago.

When did it splinter off from the WWE Undisputed title, exactly?

Maybe the wife of the player? In the context of baseball, felonies are crimes against society, not against baseball. In the context of baseball, gambling is the only crime against baseball.
Gambling, in the context of baseball, is a capital offense and Rose has richly earned-- hell, he agreed to-- his death sentence. Let him hang.

"Any match promoted well with good build-up will draw money."
Maybe you mean in today's context, but that is not true at all.
ECW had the best storylines and buildup in 1995, but they probably drew 5 percent of the WWF/WCW audience. (Where in part WCW was putting on absolute crap)
Again, Circa 96/97, WWF had way better story telling and buildups, yet WCW got PPVs and ratings based on name value.
If you changed "match" to "wrestler", I think you may have a better argument (although I still would not agree, i.e Lex Luger)
I actually think John Cena will be the first on the list to become WWE Champion. He just has that larger than life persona that is required of a WWE champion.
I think Batista has the most upside, the most potential to be madly over with the whole world, simply because of his size and look. Will it ever happen? Who knows.
I am just like THE ALIEN THE FATHERLESS THE WEIRDO

They were also brokering TV time at midnight on Saturday nights on local cable, were two years away from PPV capability and their primary shows were the Hammerstien Ballroom and the Bingo Hall.
It's not like they had a whole hell of a lot at the time to draw TOWARDS.
Gotta remember who's writing it... the great bastion of wrestling journalism, Bob Ryder... Mr. "MECW will be the greatest thing to happen to wrestling".
