Redsoxnation, I think pitching could be addressed if we can increase interest at a young age and get them really playing. We have close to 300 million citizens here and we sure could come up with 150 or so major league pitchers.
Baseball doesn't need another small market team. Move them to a media center with some population. Nothing against Portland. I have visited and it's a nice place but not a major league town.
Small market? Dude, Portland is not a small market kinda place. Besides the point of a sport is to expand it to parts that need it, such as Portland. We need once because we have only ONE proffesional sports team to cheer for, the rest of AAA level, and they are kinda hard to cheer for, since we don't really get anything out of them winning. ANYWAY, I am still going to argue that Portland would be the best place for the team, and nothing you say will change that.
If the Blazers don't make the playoffs I will be the sadest one of them all for the next 21 years.

I understand your feelings but it can't support a major league team. Living on the Great Plains we have essentially nothing. KC supports football but their baseball support is luke warm. Couldn't support baseball and its a much larger metro area. You would hurt the Trailblazers if this happened. Just not enough $ and people.
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUU Me: "Why are they booing him, he's a Tiger?" Dad: "No, they're saying Lou." Me: "Oh." Too bad no one could ever come to terms on using the stadium for anything.
