Ugh. 10 tacos. I just ate 10 Taco Bell tacos. In one sitting. I'm gonna be sick. It's time for The Great Thomas SmackDown! Report!

On RAW: TEH DRAFT. Triple H does a spit take. Heyman quits.

Triple H???: Oh, wait, no. It's just Lex Luthor. Apparently the WWE fans (and Michael Cole) don't read WWE.com. Angle is the new SmackDown! GM. Apparently Tazz doesn't read WWE.com either. Angle says he has put his wrestling career on hold, for the sake of the SmackDown! fans. He's traded Triple H back to RAW for the Dudley Boyz and Booker T. Angle brings Booker out. Booker says that he's not happy with being traded to SmackDown, because the RAW fans appreciate him. And SmackDown! is the minor leagues compared to him. Angle wants the fans to welcome Booker with open arms. He gets boos in return. OMG HEEL TURN!

Stupid Nike Commercial: When are we gonna see Brock Lesnar in the NFL? When is he gonna do the Happy Dance at the goalpost?! THAT'S the commercial I wanna see, dammit!

Ryan Seacrest: Janet Jackson on Friday.

WrestleMania Revenge: Tour of England and Scotland. John Cena wears a kilt.

RVD vs. Haas: Cole is still all over Booker T for spitting on the SmackDown! brand. RVD does a pre-show interview. Nobody gets any higher than R... V... D. Pointing to himself. Haas dominates most of the match. Haas pushes RVD off the top rope chin-first into the barricade. Educated feet galore! ROLLING THUNDER by RVD! Haas removes the turnbuckle pad, but walks into a rollup by RVD for the win.

Kidman vs. Dupreé: René walks Fifi down the ramp. FRENCH TICKLER by Dupreé! ENZIGURI by Kidman! POWERSLAM by Dupreé! Dupreé wins via Sitdown Powerbomb. Afterwards, Cena goes to the ring to "welcome" Dupreé to SmackDown! Dupreé waves his flag.

Backstage: Josh interviews Rikishi and Scotty. Theodore R. Long appears and offers his managerial services to Rikishi and Scotty. He than hands them his business card before leaving.

Locker Room: Eddie Guerrero welcomes the new talent. Booker T is unresponsive. He still calls SmackDown! the "minor leagues," which angers Eddie. The two brawl, but the other Superstars pull them apart.

Dudley Boyz vs. Basham Bros.: Bubba squashes, and D-Von gets squashed. WHAZZUP! 3-D! Dudleys win.

GM's Room: Booker T storms into Kurt's office to tell Angle that he can't get no respect. So Kurt gives Booker a tilte shot against Eddie Guerrero... TONIGHT!

Chavo the Younger vs. Spike: The Elder Dudleys are still at ringside. Wow, what a chiseled physique Spike has! Chavo foils the DUDLEY DOG. FLYING STOMP by Spike! Spike foils the GORY BOMB! Chavo wins via CANADIAN BACKBREAKER!

The Punisher: Will this be another Spiderman, or another Captain America?

Last Week: Bradshaw turned his back on Faarooq. What a horrible, horrible man.

John "Bradshaw" Layfield: Wow, a new look! Bradshaw says that he could not walk away from all his financial success to support Faarooq. It's people like him that run America, and he has succeeded in everything except wrestling, but now it's time for him to make an impact. Damn, the man got even MORE heel heat than Booker! This gimmick could work!

Walking Tall: The Rock uses a 2x4 as a weapon. The Rock beats people up. T-The Rock beats people up, b-b-beats people up. USA USA U-U-USA! HOOOOOOOOO!

Backstage: Bob Holly and the other SmackDown! Superstars tell Booker T that they're all waiting to rip into him for his comments. Booker just walks off.

Booker T vs. Guerrero: "EDDIE" chant. Brawling. HEEL KICK by Booker! DROPKICK by Guerrero! Booker tosses Eddie outside of the ring. Let's go to commercial break!

Booker T vs. Guerrero (cont.): Booker works on Eddie's back. BELLY-TO-BACK SUPLEX by Guerrero! SLEEPER HOLD by Booker. HUGE FLAPJACK by Eddie! SUPERPLEX by Booker! BOOK END! SIDEKICK! Eddie foils the SCISSORS KICK. 3 VERTICAL SUPLEXES! FROGSPLASH! BUTWAIT! Bradshaw attacks Eddie! CLOTHESLINE FROM HELL! And... we're out.

That's all for this week. Until then, Good Night, take care of yourselves, and now I'm off to throw up those 10 tacos. Oh, and this SmackDown! was really good. That is all.

So Bradshaw's new heel gimmick is that he's a Republican? You know, that pretty much makes up for Chris Nowinski - evil war protester.

"The Republican National Committee announced today that the Republican Party is changing its emblem from an elephant to a condom. The Republican committee chairman explained that the condom more clearly reflects the party's stance today, because a condom accepts inflation, halts production, precludes a next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and offers a sense of security while you're actually getting screwed."

Fuzz, you beat me to it. I mean, they got it down. To the letter. Genius. I just wish someone with a little skill had the gimmick, because it could be really entertaining if they play it carefully.

Of course, in the hands of a hamfisted clown like Brad$haw, I doubt it.

Still who would have thought that he could have entertained me without Don Callis talking for him?

Or that anyone could get over, even for a minute, with a cross between JR Ewing and VK Wallstreet?

Smackdown Thoughts:

Good opening segment with Angle coming out to Trips' music....It looks like Booker's gonna be a heel, which is a pretty good idea and I like how they executed it....RVD v.s Haas was your usual RVD match....Decent Dupree v.s Kidman match. Looks like it's "only new guys from RAW get matches night"....Dupree's got the generic tights going. Could a gimmick change be in the works?...I hope Cena's "deez nuts" joke isn't long-term, cuz I for one am just not digging it....They should sell Playas' Club cards on Shopzone....

Dudlezy v.s Bashams was okay, too, but both teams need a shake-up....What did Spike do to get a C'weight title shot?....Real good Bradshaw promo (did I actually type that?), and I'm actually interested in this new character....The main event was fine, but I just didn't feel like it was that great. But that superkick Booker gave Eddie..wow, THAT was awesome....Good show this week, with wrestling actually being the centerpiece.

I thought Bradshaw was more or less the living embodiment of Clear Channel. I like it, because I don`t like Bradshaw.

Pretty good show I thought ... some good solid matches and it helped sent the tempo for a newer, fresher Smackdown.

And for some strange reason, I liked the new Bradshaw gimmick ... I must be losing my mind.

For all the HHH non-hate around here, let me be the first to point out Eddy had a much, much better match with Booker T tonight than he did with Hunter last Monday. I'm liking Booker as a heel, but why doesn't he say he pissed because he was traded THREE FOR ONE for Triple H? Isn't that believable fodder for a heel turn? I know it'd piss me off. Booker needs no mouthpiece, he's working very well on his own so let's keep Teddy Long away from him. I love Teddy, but managers are for people who need them.

Bradshaw as right-wing, oil tycoon, stock option heel works. Why swim upstream? Bradshaw's the kind of guy who steps over a homeless person having convulsions and says "there's trash all over the street". Play into that. I hate him, but bottom line, this is the first time in the ten years or so he's been around that he's ever been interesting to me even for a second. I'd like to see where this is going.

Good show, kept my interest and featured all the new guys. RVD was kind of just there, and that won't keep him fresh long so find something concrete and plant him in it. Please. The Dudleys are the bathroom break, let's see what's on the other channel segment of the night no matter what show they're on.

"let me be the first to point out Eddy had a much, much better match with Booker T tonight than he did with Hunter last Monday."

It's true it's true.

"Booker needs no mouthpiece, he's working very well on his own so let's keep Teddy Long away from him. I love Teddy, but managers are for people who need them."

I don't think Booker needs a mouthpiece, but I am all for pairing him and Teddy as it would make a great heel act and they could compliment each other, like Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig.

"Bradshaw as right-wing, oil tycoon, stock option heel works."

Agreed! Unfortunately once the bell rings he's the same old Badshaw.

"RVD was kind of just there, and that won't keep him fresh long so find something concrete and plant him in it."

He and Guerrero should feud over who has maximized the devastating power of the frog splash! Either In The Name Of Babyface Competition or, preferably, with Heyman managing Rob. I don't think anyone's eager to boo him but it would give him a higher profile spot and they do need all the heels they can get.

Bring in Patrick Duffy as Bradshaw's manager and then have Mary Crosby shoot him.

Just out of curiousity, did Eddie and Booker ever cross paths in WCW? The main-event was pretty good, the rest of the matches were pretty mediocre. Not a really remarkable Smackdown or anything.

I liked the show-long angle between Booker and Eddie. Booker T must be pretty happy, going from an after-thought on RAW, to getting main-event heel push his first night in on SmackDown. Too bad the whole angle lead to the BRAD$HAW push.

Speaking of which, I really enjoy Bradshaw's new gimmick. I still don't want to see him in the main-events, though. Hopefully, he v. Eddie is just one of those 'in between PPVs' feuds.

I loved the way they handled Rene Dupre. The flag, the poodle, and the 1980s ring-robe made his whole entrance into a big production, which is a good thing. Dupre v. Cena should be an entertaining enough program.

RVD seemed to have a fresh start on tonight's show. He also got some promo-time, which hasn't happened in a while. They seem to be trying to get the "Mr. Thursday Night" catchprase over, which is good, because how many t-shirts can you make with just "RVD" printed on them?

Really, the only negative (aside from the Bradshaw push) to this show, in my opinion, was the dead crowd. Aside from Eddie, Cena, and RVD (who was really over with the SmackDown crowd), they didn't seem to be into anyone.

The answer to WWE's financial problems...

She Who Resides In My Avatar (and who obviously LOVES Bradshaw) suggested it would have been way funny if Bradshaw's music was the theme from "Dallas". Which his new music actually kind of reminded me of. His promo was the most promising thing I've heard out of him since the very beginning days of the Acolytes Protection Agency.

"Nobody gets higher than RVD!" Cheap, but cracked me up.

Poor Billy Kidman. Even piped-in crowd noise for him is near silence, and he has to job to a man wearing purple high-cut Maidenform nylon briefs who is accompanied to the ring by a dog named Fifi. The rest of the fomer RAW stars sure seemed to get the pops of the night. Even Spike.

Why is RVD sharing a dressing room with the Velocity brand wrestlers?

Wouldn't the perfect response from Booker to Bob Holly be that he bases his opinion of Smackdown on the fact that they gave Holly a PPV title feud?

WOW. The Rock's movie looks...CHEAP...

Booker and Eddie met in the opening match of Uncensored '98. It was about a *** 1/2 match.

By the way, Storm's gimmick includes 1.) telling the audience to shut up, and 2.) occasionally making everyone stand for the Canadian national anthem. You know they don't know what to do with a wrestler when he's making fans stand for a national anthem. It's like waving a white flag and saying, "This guy has no personality -- we give up."

Haven't RVD and Eddie already had the My Frog Splash Is Better Than Your Frog Splash feud (with Eddie as the heel)? Or am I confusing 'em with Beckie the Farmer's Daughter and Jungle Grrl?

Brad$haw's promo could have been trimmed down, but I like the gimmick. Remains to be seen, though, whether he actually works differently as a heel or if it'll be the same ol' big boot-Last Call (probably renamed the Margin Call or something equally cutesy)-Clothesline from Hell stuff he's been doing for lo these many years.

Yeah, I think that's the feel they're going for with the music. Look for Larry Hagman to make a special celebrity cameo at WM21.

But... John "Bradshaw" Layfield? WTF? Of course, ever since he cut his hair and shaved, he's looked like a wiennie. This gimmick might work for him. It has possibilities. Since his ring work is usually a little slow and sloppy, he could use some nifty heel gimmicks to get over. I think this new character needs a trademark foreign object, a la Terry Funk's branding iron or Adrian Adonis' perfume spritzer, that he can use to bludgeon his opponents. Maybe a bag of nickles, or a change belt, or a cheque book, or a tickertape machine, etc.

A few thoughts:

Kurt Angle is a god. Wrestling or not, he still manages to be a major contribution to the show. Is there any character he can't play? I believe him as a buffoon, I believe him as an olympic champion, I believe him as an evil genius heel. He's awesome. When he asked Booker tonight, "Now can you dig THAT?" I believed him.

Rene Dupree is going to be a STAR! I love this guy. He's got great ring presence. He did his best to make his match with Kidman look good (and I have to admit, Kidman helped, but he's just got no heat). The French Tickler rules--I laughed out loud when he started with his gloating little dance. Fifi rounds out his character to a Tee. If they're pumping a feud with Cena, that's going to be a great program for both of them. They can become HUGE stars together. A feud between these two could easily generate its own heat. The American thug versus the refined European. It's a match made in heaven. And with Cena's character begining to get pretty stale (already) he needs this feud. Dupree's accelerating heat could keep his gimmick afloat for a while, I think.

If I have one criticism of Dupree, it was his tights tonight. He's dangerously close to beating Orton for the most gratuitous display of one's poorly-stowed junk in the WWE.

All the guys from RAW tonight seemed more over on SD than they have been on RAW lately. Spike's match with Chavito was a good match. Both guys brought a solid workrate with them tonight, took some convincing bumps, and put on a good show. Spike needed to be in this division. It will be interesting to see how his tenure on SD pans out.

Spike's brothers were same old/same old. But still, they at least looked a little fresh in new surroundings, though I think the most exciting work they did tonight was cheering for Spike, but maybe that's because they wrestling the Boring Brothers tonight (on SD, "Boring" is spelled "Basham").

RVD. All I have to say there is, Welcome to Smackdown, MISTER THURSDAY NIGHT! Christ, when RVD openned his mouth tonight, I didn't cringe. That has to be good. Heyman must be handling his character development, because he's already ten times better than he was on RAW.

The Booker heel turn is a good move I think. SD needs a dominant heel, and it looks as though Booker just might deliver. It's also nice to see he might get another push after all. I wonder if heel Booker will be doing the Spinarooni?

On a sidenote: I think I hated Scotty Too Hotty a little less than I normally do tonight. I think this was for two reasons:
1) He didn't wrestle (i.e. no worm!).
2) Teddy "YA FEEL ME?" Long! That man is sports entertainment genius. Best manager in a long, long time.

I can definately get behind big Texan investor Brad$haw. When he was a face, they had him play to his face strengths, and that basically got him over with enough people (not me) to make it to the midcard. But his heel strenghts, ringwork aside, might be able to take him all the way.

I do wonder if he'll keep being "Brad$haw," or whether "John 'Bradshaw' Layfield" is a better fit for a heel name.

I am SO vindicated in seeing almost the *exact* heel persona I proposed for Bradshaw when he first went solo being played out. I was also impressed with Booker T's "disgruntled superstar" heel work; anyone who said that he didn't have *it* in terms of being a main eventer should be snacking on crow now, with a side of I-told-you-so...

Prediction (You heard it here first): Theodore Long will end up managing the Basham Brothers, who may or may not start believing they are Black, a la Akeem.

Hey, the Dudz were on offense for practically 95% of that match, so if the match was boring, they have to take some blame.

Pretty boring SD. Dupree/Kidman was OK, Booker heel turn was done well, and Booker/Eddy was nice, but nothing else was really that good.

--I'm not buying Spike as a cruiser, and the Dudz are still doing the same old, same old.

--Bradshaw's heel turn would be interesting if it weren't for the fact that it's *Bradshaw*. I think it'd be better suited for a US Title feud w/ Cena, rather than a feud w/ Eddy, but as long as Eddy dispathced him back to the midcard, we should be OK. Better yet, feed Bradshaw to Taker - at least he'll be squashing someone I don't care about.

--Long (to Josh): "Playas only, white boy." Classic. Wonder who he'll end up managing?

Pretty much an "establish the Raw guys" night. I wonder if Raw will take the same approach concerning the formerly-SD guys. I'm especially curious to see how they handle Benjamin. Hopefully next week's SD gets back to normal (i.e. not so former-Raw-guys intensive).
