Has anyone heard anything definitive about when Edge will make his television return, or how long they plan on teasing it? Will he be part of the lottery? Or will he just show up on a show after it's all been decided?

While logic is pointing at Edge being a surprise pick in the lottery this Monday, I say they hold back on it.
The lottery is such a big event itself that everyone will pay attention to who's on what roster before they even think about one guy. Refer to the indifference of the Benoit pick in the first draft. They should do their lottery without Edge and comparable to how Raw and Smackdown fought to the death over the rights of Rock, Austin, and Steiner, the GMs should go head-to-head to get Edge on their roster for a while. It would raise his credibility considerably.
I agree. Edge should be fought over by both brands to put him over and his possible credibility as a future champion (Provided Triple H doesn't want Edge to job to him). Although knowing WWE, they'll probably bring him back on the lottery, have him have 2 jobs to Triple H on PPV, and then put him in a feud with Test over a diva. Still, you never know.... Anything can happen in the World Wrestling Federa... oh I'm sorry.... Entertainment!

At one time, I would have agreed with a resounding YES, but really, with the draft coming and all - we don't know what smackdown is gonna be like after Monday.
I hope they do the right thing and build up Edge slowly to main event status. This way, he will be a good wrestler to feed to HHH when he comes back from his movie shoot. Then they could put Edge where he belongs, maybe on Velocity or Heat, fueding with Billy Gunn or even Ryhno.
Was anyone else disappointed with Edge's return tonight? His pop was pretty luke warm.
For one thing, it seemed to come out of nowhere, and the crowd's reaction seemed to be, for the most part, "Oh, is that Edge? I guess we should cheer or something, huh?"
I don't think they teased his return long enough on television before actually having him show his face on RAW. I think they should have picked a date and built to it, like they did for Undertaker leading up to Wrestlemania XX. That would have really got people riled for his return, and his pop would have been way bigger.
Next week will be the litmus test. People will be expecting to see Edge, so they will be prepared to pop for him. It'll be interesting to see how many Edge signs there will be in the crowd next Monday, etc.

Has anyone else noticed that ever since Edge broke up with Christian and turned face that he's become very bland? His wrestling's pretty much the same as any young talented wrestler (which admittedly gets repetitive over time) and his mic skills aren't really that good anymore. His best feud since his departure from Christian (the Kurt Angle feud) really was made funnier by Kurt.
I don't know. He may have improved since he was injured, but he really hasn't done anything really significant aside from getting injured for a year. But let's see.

He hasn't even been able to do anything since he's come back. We have no idea exactly what type of character he will be playing. All we know is that he gave Easy E a spear, albeit a fairly unimpressive one, and that he has a sweet leather jacket. Wait till Monday before passing judgements on Edge. All that can really be said right now is that he's gotta get rid of the spear. First off, he had neck surgery, so its already a bad idea. Next, he is returning at the same time Goldberg is leaving. And nobody (that I've seen at least) dishes out a spear like Goldberg. Plus, Rhyno is on RAW now to fill in for Goldberg as the resident spear'er. Edge needs to stick to a more unique finisher.
(edited by samoflange on 25.3.04 1019) David Spade teaches us an Important Lesson:
Joe Dirt: So you're gonna tell me that you don't have no black cats, no roman candles, or screaming mimis? Kicking Wing: No. Joe Dirt: Oh come on man. You got no lady fingers, fuzz buttles, snicker bombs, church burners, finger blasters, gut busters, zippity do das, or crap flappers? Kicking Wing: No, I don't. Joe Dirt: Yer gonna stand there, owning a fireworks stand, and tell me you don't have no whistling bungholes, no spleen spliters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker don'ts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistling kitty chaser? Kicking Wing: No... because snakes and sparklers are the only ones I like. Joe Dirt: Well that might be your problem, it's not what you like, it's the consumer.
Edge can be very good. He's a babyface, so in a way he doesn't need to have an elaborate moveset. Look at the Rock... limited in the ring, but still a main eventer because he just makes the moves that the other guys do look GOOD. Edge is the same way... his feuds with Kurt and Eddie made both guys look like a million bucks, but at the same time Edge looked like he belonged in the ring with them.
As for his mic skills, he doesn't pop out the crowd with catchphrases, but that was one of the things I liked about them. He always had that ring of sincerity in his babyface promos, and the fact that he wasn't peppering them with catchphrases and cheap pops added to that.
it's been said but i've like singles Edge ever since A: the back lash 02 match with angle....which i trhought was excellent and of corse the SWANk SD match with eddie to end the feud. That match was just all that.
the cage match to end the kurt feud was great as well. I'm all for edge getting invloved on raw (wiether he has to be carried or is the carrier) either way he looks good doing it. unrealated i think Christian's character is finally starting to come into his own. They must keep hime with Trish now for awhile to keep this character some longivity. keep him and edge spereat for now and let them interact once edge is back in the thick of things.
Fuckin' rights, I already got half a fuckin' buzz on
No, I don't think his work is the same as "any young wrestler" if you're referring to the Orton, Dupree, Cade & Jindrak etc(green rookie) types. He's got a much more unique moveset for one. His stuff does start to look sort of repetitive after a while but so do most guys'(Benoit: chops, germans, headbutt, finisher. Flair: chops, more chops, back body bumps, finisher. HHH: no explanation needed.) You don't have to wrestle like Benoit or Angle to be a good wrestler, pro-wrestling is about different styles and he's smooth in his and his spots and delivery always excite the crowd(Monday night not withstanding :/).
He hasn't had the CHANCE to cut many promos as of his face turn because his character became more of a no-nonsense wrestling guy opposite of the comedian stuff that kept him efficient in the tag team ranks(where Christian is apparently best off). Is anyone who doesn't throw out witty insults and jokes on the mic considered bland? And fwiw, his arguable best promo ever, "Billy Bitchcakes" at KOR 2001 was a face promo.
He's just got such an awesome star presence and intensity, I don't see how people can call him stale or generic. He's anything but. Compare him to someone like Orton and you'll easily see why.
I agree with Darkmatcher. Before his injury, Edge was very over on SD. Give him about a year on RAW to rebuild, and he could easily be the new man. With the right push, and if he could avoid being fed to Hunter's self-interested ego, he's got all the makings of a great champ.

So he's got no chance.
I think Edge has all the potential in the world, but Trips is interested in building Randy Orton. That's his big plan. Edge could be fed to either one of those two. Edge's only chance is to get the Eddy Guerrero, Stone Cold Steve Austin, I'm-so-over-you-really-MUST-push-me heat. And few ever get that.
I'd tell you to kiss my ass, but I don't want to get it infected.
