Still got all 4 of my final 4 left (Ok St., Duke, UCONN, Georgia Tech). If Pitt and Texas would do me the favor of losing soon, that would help me out tremendously in my basketball pool as I am still behind in points, and don't need people getting final four points from those 2 schools.

The Zags killed me. But, we get points for each round that we win and a lot of people played the favorites, so I still have a very, very, very, very small chance of squeaking out a win...but I doubt it. Damn Zags. :-(

Damn you, Pittsburgh...the school everybody forgets even exists in Pennsylvania. (There's another school there besides Penn State?) Oh, well...nice run by Bo Ryan and the University of Wisconsin Badgers. (Windows Media)

In their honor: BadgersbadgersbadgersbadgersMUSHROOMMUSHROOM...

My brackets are so far in the toilet, they're clogging it up like yours truly after a brats/cheese/PBR bender. 6-10 picking the Sweet 16, 2 Final Four teams and my nat'l champ (Kentucky) already dead, and only 3-5 picking the Round of 32 in the West...err, Phoenix bracket.

Time for more PBR now.

not surprised they made the sweet 16(check my bracket!!)...however definitely surprised that they're the only ones left...

I actually have Bama in the elite 8...but what do I know. I had ETSU, Michigan State, and Providence in the sweet 16

Well Thrill, first off, I tip my hat to your Badgers for a great game. Pitt really was the more talented team, but for most of the game I thought I was going to endure an even earlier NCAA heartbreak than normal. That Devin Harris is a player, to be certain. When someone tires out Pitt's uber-defender Julius Page in just over a half, something is certainly up. The only reason Wisky lost is because the Panthers are the only team in the country that can bring uber-defender numero dos at you, in the person of Jaron Brown.

(As a quick aside, the officiating in the game, in my "homer" opinion, was tremendous, given the location situation. I thought that Tim Higgins and crew did an exemplary job, as both teams shot about the same number of free throws, and Pitt actually made most of them, who'd have thunk it?)

The Panthers are the most mentally tough team in the country. They aren't the most talented team, to be sure, but they are more talented than people give them credit for, and throughout the course of this season, their seniors (and Carl Krauser, who might as well be one--he's old enough to be) make huge plays with the game on the line. I can't wait to see their matchup with Ok. State, which I think is the best matchup of the Sweet 16. As Jay Bilas so eloquently put it, the game is going to be a cage match that should be officiated by three green berets. I have to stay with Pitt as a bold prediction, mainly because I have them winning the whole damn thing, but it's going to be a damn close game, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Panthers lost, even with the sudden advantage they have in location, which is even more pronounced when one considers that New York is a big Pitt pipeline for talent in NYC and that's not exactly far from East Rutherford.

And to respond to your original statement about people forgetting about Pitt? Well, yes, for most of the last 15 years, they have deserved nothing but passing, derogatory mention, but over the last five years or so, Pitt has been THE school in PA when it comes to athletics. (Mind you, this is coming from a Penn State student, albeit one that can't stand the school's sports teams.)

That's about all I got--Pitt/UConn for the national title...Round 4.

At least I can somewhat justify my blindness in picking Providence with being an alum/person who went after Gillen on campus after losing an Elite 8 game. But, at least in the pool that I covered myself in, I'm alive in all 4 regions with Georgia Tech/UConn/Okie State and Illinois.

Well, you're welcome I guess. Kentucky not only ruined my brackets, they also ruined my Sunday and their loss officialy signaled the end of my basketball viewing until Midnight Madness in October. Seeing as how Kentucky is devoid of professional team sports and that many of us live and die with the 'Cats, yesterday was not fun.

Congratulations Chuck, I would promise to root for Vandy, but I'm afraid that my support would guarantee a loss for the Commodores - though I did a lot of yelling and screaming yesterday that I just know helped them win the game.

The good news is that I can now officially focus my sporting interests on golf and my quest to reduce my handicap to single digits - hey, I've gone from 21 to 14 in 2 years, it's amazing how much sobriety helps my game.

My national champ is gone as well, but I still have nine teams alive and three final four picks alive, so not too bad of shape.

Thanks Rusty...my yelling and screaming did NOTHING for the Cats. I couldn't believe what I was watching...oh well, go Bama, and GO VANDY...I wanted UK and MSU to win SOOO bad due to the ESPN bias for the ACC...

Oh and guess what...Bilas just re-seeded the sweet 16.

Wow, that's pretty harsh, i've always liked Bilas, thought he was pretty smart but there is no way Nevada should be ahead of anybody in in a re-seed. Actually besides Saint Joseph's being #1 I think the seeds they already have are pretty accurate in a re-seed. Nevada is the lowest seed and the weakest team, followed by UAB (although they will win it all anyway!) then Alabama. You could maybe argue Xavier higher than Vandy, but they are atleast above those three.

Oh well time to root for Vandy and 'Bama! GO SEC! Also Nevada is fun to watch.

Rondo did light up the Louisville High School scene before transferring to Oak Hill for his senior season, so I'm excited about his prospects at UK (as long as he doesn't double cross us and go to Louisville now that Telfair is going to the NBA instead).

And don't forget about Patrick Sparks who transferred from Western KY after Felton took the Georgia job. He was a big reason they beat UK year before last.

I still have Duke beating Ok St in the finals and UConn as my other Final 4 team. The Zags screwed me royally (No, I didn't pick the Cats to win it all. I had the Zags rated higher). I don't think I can win the Wiener tournament, but I'm still in the running for the two money pools I'm in.

This is my understanding for why a re-seed would have Vandy and Bama below Nevada: Vandy and Bama are in UConn's bracket, and if Okafor is healthy neither team will beat them. Nevada on the other hand is in a wide open bracket, thus they would theoretically have a better chance to advance to a Final Four than Vandy or Bama, and thus, would then have a better chance of winning the National Title.

Ok, I can understand that, but Nevada has an easier bracket than Texas, who has to go through Duke, or Saint Joseph's who has to go through Oklahoma State, so by that method they would be even higher. Actually by that method you have to have to put everybody in that bracket 1 through 4 since they are in the easiest bracket and therefore have the best chance.

Yeah, we've got to get people on TV from tiny-ass schools that haven't won since the New Deal just so we won't have to hear about where they're from anymore. Enough already.
