Talk about paranoid....is it just me, or are we calling "oh this is a work" on EVERY move WWE makes in terms of personel lately? I mean, who cares about Farooq enough to be SWERVED~! about him being fired?

Well, perhaps he can join Butch Reed in Indy-land (I'm assuming that's where Butch is) and we can get epic battles in places like Parsippany between Doom and the SAT's.

I'm still waiting for Goldust to come back and tell us what he remembered.

No, this isn't a work. The reason for the timing is that WWE probably already planned to get rid of the guy, so they wrote a quick angle to get him off tv, and then got rid of him for real.

I'm shocked he wasn't kept around as an agent but in the ring, he was really past his prime. Most of his last matches in the APA consisted of him lying down and selling a beating, before hot tagging Bradshaw.

If he is a problem backstage as a wrestler there is no reason to keep him around as an agent. I'm surprised that they kept Farooq around as long as they did.

WWE: "Hey Ron, remember the other night when we fired you on TV?"

Simmons: "Yeah, what about it?"

WWE: "Well, that was for real."

Simmons: "Say what?"

WWE: "We mean you really are fired. That wasn't an angle. That was real. Pack up your gear and get out."

Simmons: "Damn!"

* * * *

This seems a little too cruel a way to fire someone. I wonder if Bradshaw knew ahead of time? If he did, that makes him kind of a bastard. If he didn't, I wonder how pissed off he'll be that the TV angle made him look complicit.

Paranoid? First of all, I never jumped the conclusion it IS a work. The circumstances seem kind of ironic, anyone can see that clearly. But that doesn't mean we all automatically believe it's a work; now THAT would be paranoid. You should know peemoney, WWE has done even more bizzare desicions in thier booking in the past. Besides, we don't know what creative is thinking right now on the eve of this "New WWE", and what things they are planning.

This is disappointing. Simmons was cool and in my opinion had credibility no matter who he was fighting. I wish that they had utilized him and let him be himself.

It is weird that on the WWE site they put it as:

Ron Simmons was released, effective immediately.

I've never seen "effective immediately" used before when someone was let go.

I'm going to miss him and good luck.

Wasn't his wife very sick or something? If it was personal reasons, maybe that is what it was. Vince might be a bastard, but he definitely takes care of people who have been loyal. Ron was very loyal to Vince, so it puzzles me why they would just release him.

Well, clearly he should have retired some time ago, but why they released him completely is anyone's guess. I hope it was a mutual decision, and that he wasn't actually fired fired. But the wording of that WWE.com statement is very curious, and might be telling.

Maybe in a day or two we'll find out something that happened that could've let to this.

Get a fucking clue about your history before posting again, kthx.

Ron Simmons cut some of the better promos in WWE history during the NOD run. A really good talker, a perfectly adequate worker for most of his career, and the first black World champion (tm WCW).

As for giving Hass/Benjamin a chance? Benjamin seems in line for a decent singles push, so just hold your horses, skippy.

A 45 year old Ron Simmons can still outwrestle a 20-odd year old Matt Morgan.

I'll miss him, that's for certain.

Okay, let's not drink too much stupid-juice here.

I'll miss the chemistry he's had with Brdshaw these past few years, and always hold a special place for him thanks to making the big crappy Texan the most watchable he's ever been. But really, it's nothing to cry over. He's been past his prime for years, and there's nothing to sugges that this isn't a mutual decision. It was reported a few weeks ago that Simmons was considering retirement again, so maybe he and the office decided to part ways and save the company some money. Hell, they may have given him a big fat redundency check for his troubles. We just don't know.

So now it appears that Bradshaw is going to get a heel run ... he kinda hinted at it at last night's Smackdown ... he played the heel at a house show in England as well ...

I'm surprised that Farooq was let go in this manner, as he always seemed like a team player when it came to WWE. I'm also surprised that we don't see the usual "we wish him the best in his future endeavors," which was used for nearly everyone (even people who really burned their bridges at WWE got that statement in the official reports of their releases).

On the other hand, while the wording of the release seems pretty intense, it still could be a situation where they had a mutual parting of the ways.

Mind you, it's not going to keep me up nights, but you do have to wonder what the story is here.

Bad things truly happen when you step to Ron.

I was never a huge fan, but (apologies to Chris Rock) Ron Simmons was sort of the Tito Jackson of the WWE.

Why are you gonna fire Ron? Ron never hurt nobody!

I wonder what's in store for Bradshaw? Maybe they're going to go for a kind of 'evil financial advisor' gimmick. Too bad The Million Dollar Man and Irwin R. Shyster aren't still around... Bradshaw could be the heavy of Money Inc.

ron ws the best back inthe old doom days. loved their feud with stiners. i also like his run with the wcw title in 92. the night he wwon i was in total mark mode because it was so out of left field.

just speculation which likley means nothing but i (as well as all my friends watchin) thoughtat the four way match at mania simmons looked out of it. i cant remember the exact spot but he bumped heads or soemthing and just sort of shuffled out of the ring. he looked out of it, drunk, maybe head not in the game but everyone noticed.

anyone else see this

I'm definitely hoping for a Chuckabilly victory, or failing that, maybe a win by the APA. The last thing the tag division needs is another reign by the Dudleys or Hardys, especially if it results in more matches between those two teams.
