Any truth to the rumor that the Vikings will give Brock Lesner a tryout this Wednesday? Can you see Brock as an offensive/Defensive lineman? Who will be the first NFL player to get the F-5?
Vikings not interested in Lesnar Mark Craig, Star Tribune
Published March 13, 2004 The Vikings are looking for defensive linemen. World Wrestling Entertainment champion Brock Lesnar wants a shot at the NFL, at least according to themat.com, a Web site dedicated to wrestling.
Vikings headquarters are in Eden Prairie. Lesnar lives in Orono and is a former Gophers NCAA heavyweight champion.
See where we're going with this?
"I've heard it," Vikings coach Mike Tice said Friday. "There's no tryout. We haven't talked to him. I'm not going to spend any time on that rumor."
Gophers football coach Glen Mason was in a similar position in 2000. Word spread that Lesnar wanted to try football, with a possible NFL career in mind. Mason was willing to listen, but Lesnar never followed through.
Lesnar, 26, is 6-4, 290 pounds. On Sunday he'll face Bill Goldberg in WrestleMania at Madison Square Garden. Those who follow professional wrestling closely are saying it might be Lesnar's final bout because he doesn't like the travel associated with the sport.
Lesnar did not return a phone call Friday. But his college wrestling coach has his doubts about the whole thing.
"He's making millions in wrestling; he just bought a plane," Gophers wrestling coach J Robinson said. "What would you do? Give it all up with no guarantee of making it in the NFL? I think they're trying to hype WrestleMania."
Despite his size and strength, Lesnar would be a long shot in the NFL because he has never played football at a high level.
"If he were to call me, I'd investigate to see what kind of football background he has," Tice said. "But I'm not spending any time thinking about it."

Brock Lesnar has never (ever) played college football. He's just a big guy who figures he can get a shot in the NFL because of who he is. Fat chance. I doubt any NFL team would give a try-out to somebody with little to no college or high school experience, even if they are a former WWE Champion.

Besides, if he went to Minnesota, Chad Clifton would knock the shit out of him. After surviving Warren Sapp, Brock's about as intimidating as Mikey Whipwreck.
