THQ finally announced the new WWE GameCube game. They ditched the 'Wrestlemania' title in favor of WWE: Day of Reckoning. It scheduled to be released September 2004. We will know more at E3 in May.

Till then feast your eyes, post your thoughts, concerns, and obviously complaints.

Take a look my fellow true believers...

It looks nice, but lets hope that the controls and story are good and also the caw is too.

I never really had a problem with the basic mechanics of the WM games for Gamecube, other than the frustration of trying to eliminate someone from the Royal Rumble mode. My venom was spewed at the inane "story modes" they came up with. For instance, WMX9 had the horrible story about breaking up Vince's plans for WM by beating up random security guards in malls.

After looking at the outline for the new story mode, I have to say that my outlook has improved on this new G-cube game. If they can just be a little more like Smackdown in that respect, then this game will have a chance to turn around the fortunes of the Gamecube WWE games.

That horrible 'story mode' was the dealbreaker for me. I liked the gameplay, loved the CAW system, but ultimately wound up trading it in.

I had a serious issue with the gameplay for the earlier titles, mainly due to being so damn fond of the WM2000/No Mercy game engine. There seems to be very little scope to the matches using the Gamecube version. The CAWs have been well-done, although rather inflexible....if they could just match the graphics with a design the quality of the N64 titles, then it'd be golden.

Well ya know somethin' Mean Gene...

I actually wouldn't have been too pissed off with WrestleMania XIX's story mode if it hadn't been so damned impossible. That one scenario in which you have to subdue an infinite number of security guards long enough to climb up a freakin' long-ass chain was the dealbreaker for me. Just when I'd taken out the four guys on the screen and started to climb the chain, four other guys appeared, knocked me off of it and started beatin' the crap out of me. At that point, I said screw it.

Wow, Benoit's actually at the point where he's one of the "demo" superstars in the extremely early versions of the game. That's pretty cool.

"The Republican National Committee announced today that the Republican Party is changing its emblem from an elephant to a condom. The Republican committee chairman explained that the condom more clearly reflects the party's stance today, because a condom accepts inflation, halts production, precludes a next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and offers a sense of security while you're actually getting screwed."

I would think it was cool, but then I see him getting his ass kicked in a few of those pics, so maybe that's not a good thing.

On the other hand, it still isn't as bad as Benoit jobbing in a WCW Cruiserweight Title match before he was even in WCW.

Is it normal for the wrestlers to look 'plastic?' Like giant dolls? If that's not realistic then I'll wait until they look more 'humanlike', most likely in 2006.

I'm still a PS2 Smackdown fan though.

Going by the screenshots they posted in that article there's still a long way to go before this game hits XBox WWE Raw levels of plastic-ness.

I just hope they kept the control scheme and KILLER entrance editing system.

ALright...so when's the GBA gonna get a new WWE game? I hate waiting sometimes.

SD2: April, Year 3; what's the point to the Career mode, anyhow?
FF7: Disc 1; 4h into game; Cloud...bodyguard, hero, crossdresser?!?
FF8: Disc 4; 42h into game; The gang against Adel (and Rinoa?!??!).
FF9: Disc 1; 6h into game; Hunting down Dagger after she drugged me!

Back from vacation...but I want MORE!

I think the GBA will get a scaled down version of Day of reckoning with Gamecube link up possibly. I can't wait for DOR. It looks like THQ (or rather Yukes) are treating the Gamecube with respect, in terms of wrestling games. Now all we need is a good roster. (No Jobbers from the Revenge Mode. They could have used that space to bring in more ACTUAL members of the roster)

Point blank, without the story mode of HCTP, I have a sinking feeling that a lot of people will be highly disappointed by this game.

As far as GBA is concerned, Fire Pro is the only game I'll ever need. Anybody want a used copy of Attitude for the GBC, by the way?

The new game has a story mode. It's not like HCTP, but its a hell of a lot better then the crap WrestleMania XIX had. What were they thinking?

This time you do fight jobbers (no names like the great Dr. Frank and Chee Bros.) from old N64 days. Or at least we can hope. Anyway, you fight them and gain popularity and then move to Heat/Velocity and eventually move to main eventing and mid card on RAW/SD! (depending your brand choosing)
Seems pretty cool if they do it right.

And no I don't want a used GBC version of 'Attitude' it sucked.

Yes, the game's story mode could be a very good premise if pulled off correctly. It should include some legends worth having aswell. I'd like to see Bret Hart on there and Hulk Hogan. I don't care about who owns the copyrights to the characters, just bring them in. I hope that they have the opportunity to defend your title in Exhibition. Those matches have intensity (depending on the person you are playing against). I'd like to see all match types and all arenas. X9 sucked in terms of arenas (Rumble, Wrestlemania, Summerslam, Raw and Smackdown!. What a line-up! I played Smackdown! 5 the other day with my mate, and while I gloated over the comntrol sytem, I wasn't gloating over the size of the roster, the extras, match types, arenas and the story mode. I'd like to see a sytem where you can set up rivals who interfere in the match against you or allies who interfere for you (rather like No Mercy). Creating stbles would be good aswell.

ooo........this is sounding promising. my main gripe with WMXIX was the story mode, DOR's is sounding just the ticket. Graphics are looking nice at this early stage.

definitely excited about this one.

As long as there're some unlockables worth unlocking, I can forgive a lot from the story mode. If this is another one of those "struggle your way through impossible odds to unlock Stephanie McMahon" situations, count me OUT.

I want legends, I want cool outfits, I want finishers from around the world. If you're going to include the non-wrestlers make them the first things you open up, so that you don't wind up feeling cheated at the end.

Apparently, (and don't quote me on this, cos it could be wrong) THQ have only added one match type. That being......Bra and Panties. Now I'm all for women in their underwear, but the whole point of the game is to pin someone, make someone submit, knock them out or whatever, not to tear a woman's clothes off. Why not include something like Elimination Chamber, I Quit, or 2 out of 3 Falls. Please say that this rumour is not true! I need my Elimination Chamber! The game should be focused on wrestling, not soft porn. I wish THQ/Yukes would take the hint and see what we want. Somebody must read the forums. Do they take suggestions?
