Any fanboy bitching about the Triple Threat should now be swallowing with a healthy dosage of crow. Man, that was a fantastic match, and any thoughts of Benoit not being put over strong are now laughable.
More Q'n'D thoughts:
- The opening of the Brock/Goldberg match was very bizarre. I'm sure the long stall was put in there for the crowd to get all the chants of their system. Brock's confused "What the f do you want from me?" to Goldberg was very strange, and there was a point I thought Brock was going to walk. I think it's safe to say it's not a work.
- The Trish heel turn worked for me. Lusty, crazy-eyed Trish wiping her mouth also, ahem, "worked for me." Christian's little look to the crowd right before the Unprettier was way cool.
- Did anyone notice Chavo Sr.'s GREAT adjustment to catch Mysterio on the somersault plancha, where he was going to end up WAY short. Chavo Sr. did the best work in the match.
- Poor Molly. They better have promised her that 2004 will be The Year of Molly.
- I counted zero ref bumps all night, by the way. No run-ins. The way a WM should be.
Not the best WrestleMania (that would be X-7, which is the absolute zenith of the industry), but a fine way to spend a Sunday night and they certainly ended on a high note.
He did it. Well, guess that shuts all of us up, well me anyway..for now. Ha ha ha. Sort of disappointed that there weren't any super surprises. But, oh well. Cool, let's see where this goes.

Very good stuff. Benoit was certainly elevated out of that match. Tomorrow should be a fun visual when introducing him as the world champion. Thanks Vince!
I think WM 17 was better than this. I mean, there wasnt one surpise I didnt see coming days before. The way they kept putting over Bret all night made me think he was gonna come out at the end. Its amazing to Eddie and Chris are now the co-champs. Who woulda thunkit.
But, the first half of the card was rather underwhelming. But, I did get a kick out of the Brock/Lesnar match. And, you gotta love how NYC crowds boo HBK. Overall, I liked the show, but to say there is NOTHING to complain about is FAR from the truth.
WOW!!! What a Mania!!! My moniker I've been sporting the last month came true. *LOL* Anyway, crossbreed Taker? BENOIT *orgasim* *LOL* No love at all for Brock, eh, deserved it. Double stunners!!! Anyways, Only one over in that match was AUSTIN. Trish turn little bit obvious. Finally, Eddie!!! EDDIE! EDDIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
More than expected this year!

One of the oddest matches/crowd reaction I have ever seen.
The higher-ups have no one to blame but themselves for the fans COMPLETELY turning on both Brock and Goldberg. This was easily one of the worst hyped main events in Wrestlemania history. Gee, Goldberg hasn't been on TV in over a month. What kind of reaction did they think he'd get? And isn't it amazing how quickly news of Brock's departure spread? Combining this with centering the entire hype of the match around AUSTIN and you can just imagine how much of a mess that whole ordeal was.
The card was going down the road of mediocrity until the final match. Finally, Benoit gets his moment! And did HBK ever bleed for his art in that one. YIKES!
EDIT: Question. Upon further review of the crowd's chants, did anyone else notice that not all of them made sense. "You sold out?" Sold out to who? What exactly did Brock sell out to? That chant totally made no sense, but it's like the crowd chanted it for the sake of chanting it. I feel like I died and woke up in ECW.

Paul: Ok Brock, you've just been handed the ball! What are you gonna do with it? Brock: I'm gonna score a TOUCHDOWN!!! Paul: YEAH! Wait...what?
Jericho/Christian and the handicap match were both good-great. The tags and cruiser bouts were rushed but enjoyable. Taker's entrance-and the new look-was something serious interesting and cool, reminding me of Budd from Kill Bill for some reason. Cena's win was very well-booked. The T&A was kept short. And Lesnar/Goldberg was interesting, if only for being the exact opposite or Rock/Hogan.
Those two matches were fucking awesome. But this wasn't a two match card.
"The higher-ups have no one to blame but themselves for the fans COMPLETELY turning on both Brock and Goldberg."
Riiiight. Nothing to do with BROCK'S decision to quit just days before a massive show, which they had no control over.
Fantastic ending. Possibly the best ending to a Mania ever. What a visual.
I'm spent. So many good moments. Even though so many people speculated it here, the Trish turn still shocked the hell out of me. Sick bladejob by HBK. Hot crowd (showing unbelievable respect to both Flair and Benoit). The Eddy/Angle finish was creative. Even the filler was fun. Taker match was a bit odd, though. Only the Deadman entrance returned. He was still the biker when he took his jacket off. Oh well...it was still cool.
And XXI's comin' to my town. Woo!
"Self-esteem is for everybody, Self-esteem is for everyone, You can dream and be anybody, But, self-esteem is how you get it done."
I thought Goldberg and Lesnar were sabotaging heir match, what a disappoinment. The 'You sold out' chants made the match memorable. I'm sure some people were disappoined with Taker. It was like the American badass except with phemon music and facial expressions. Who would of thought Eddie and Benoit would be the world champions one year ago when they were in a throw away tag team match at WMXIX. Very good show and awesome ending.
