No. The company made a commitment to him for two full years. I'd be willing to give the kid a break if he'd come forward, said, "gimme a month off, I'll come back on a lmited schedule and spend the next thre emonths putting some guys over, then I'll ride off into the sunset". But he hasn't. He's just fucked 'em over without anything in return. And sorry, I don't car ehow f'ed up he is, he could've worked aorund it in order to give the fed a little something back before calling it a day. Lok at the commitment and dedication shown by Rocky. Look at the injuries Foley went through. Hell, Angle wrestled with a potentially paralysing injury at Mania last year, and just to put the guy over!
I don't know. The Wrestling lifestyle isn't for everyone. If he isn't happy, he doesn't have to stay. Maybe he misses being home, sleeping in his bed everynight. It isn't an easy life. If he wants to quit, I can't hate on him for that. He made the WWE money while he has been there. He has sold some merchandise, video games, PPVs and DVDs. So let's not act like he has done nothing for the fed. Atleast he is giving them some kind of notice, not just no-showing one night.

OK, I'll give you that one, but from what I've been reading lately, this guy has been showing some signs of burnout for a little while now - the "I'm gonna kill anybody talking on the Internet" bit, the buying the plane bit, going out with Sable (?) when he could get somebody a heck of a lot closer to his own age (that's just me. I think she ought to be ashamed of herself, personally.) Somebody older from the WWE should have stepped in and counselled this kid long before this. This reminds me a lot of the Jeff Hardy burnout.

Rocky came from a wrestling family. Knew what was involved. Foley paid his dues all over before WWE stardom came. Angle was older and had tried to make it in other fields before he came to the WWE. He knew what he was getting into.
I don't think Lesner did. He was pushed too young and too fast. He needs to get it together before something real bad happens.

I'm pretty sure someone told him that the wrestling life isn't easy and you travel a lot and stuff.
And I don't see how Angle being older and trying to make it in other fields meant he was any more prepared for it than Brock was. Brock is a grown ass man at 26. Which also, of course, means he can quit if he wants to.
I just think saying he was "pushed too young and too fast" is kind of ludicrous. If he wasn't pushed near this much, the travel would probably still be bothering him, he'd probably still have the other stuff going on, and he'd probably be walking out right about now, it's just that we wouldn't care as much.
Work! Work-work-work-work-work! An excellent work. Definitely a work.
Goldberg/Lesnar (IMO) has been the least interesting & least hyped of the big matches at WM -- particularly with Bill not being around. This churns up interest in "Brock's last match", & the uncertainty of who'll win the match. Or, what shocking swerve Vince might concoct so that neither of these guys wins. Brock takes some legitimate downtime -- that's a perfectly fine thing. Any Goldberg-related dust settles (depending on what Vince has planned). They can bring Brock back in all sorts of interesting ways.

While I take what you're saying, I think fans have got a right to be upset. Imagine if a football team used a first round draft pick to sign a QB. Gave him a high paying, long term contract, gave him playing time even when he wasn't quite getting it done while overlooking other alternatives.
Then 2 years down the line, when the guy's finally in a position to give the club some real payback for the investment, he decides he's had enough. One weeks notice, thank you and goodnight.
A lot of fans would be mighty pissed, and being told 'hey at least he didn't no-show a playoff game' probably wouldn't ease their anger.
Yes hes shifted a fair whack of merch, but probably not enough yet to warrant the push. The payoff the WWE would have been looking for on him would have been much more long term. they could have stuck a Taker in that slot for 2 years and probably sold a comparable amount of merchandise, but they didn't because they were attempting to build for the future.
Of course I can totally understand that he could be unhappy, but if the story's true then I still feel taking time off to get his life in order before coming back for a brief farewell run would have been the right thing to do.
As for Lesnar making an impression in the NFL, I don't see it. He's never played at any sort of level to prepare him for that, and regardless of where he plans on lining up size and strength won't be enough to get him through. Theres no way he'd be clued up enough on the positional aspects of playing LB and at 24 hes older than a lot of guys with much more talent and potential coming out of college. Hell even linemen need to be well versed in the finer points of the game and have a good football brain to get anywhere.
If Brock's desire to compete in the NFL is legit, which I believe it is since he had offers after college:
Brock is older than the average new NFL recruit, but I think that's also why he has chosen to try it out at this point now. He's 26, which is still young, and if he waits any longer he's only robbing himself of the opportunity even more. If he really does want to do this NFL thing, it's now or never.
As far as doing this work to cause doubt as to who will win Brock/Goldberg, there is no real doubt that UT will defeat Kane, yet we don't see any rumors of Kane taking time off or UT retiring immediately after this match. The ending to this match is pretty apparent, but people will still watch.

It's a very good work.
I'm in your camp Emma. This story has lit off my BS filter.
There was the 'leak' awhile ago where Vince was pissed about all the leaks and threatened to fire leakers in the SD lockerroom. Brock Lesner was the one to stand up and agree with Vince (all allegedly). It is drawing a bit of a bow though. I'll edit in the link if I find it.

Absolutely correct. Undertaker/Kane is intrinsically interesting to people, so they (Vince) don't need to provide any additional "goose" to the plotline. Lesnar/Goldberg all on its own hasn't (IMO) got anywhere the interest that the other big matches have. Therefore, Vince needs to up the ante to generate interest. That's good marketing.
When it was plain old Lesnar/Goldberg with Goldberg leaving, it would have been thud-thud-spear-F5-bring-on-the-evening-gowns. If we "know" that both the guys are leaving, then even the smarkiest smark has to start considering the more interesting possibilities.
i can't see this as being a work...If it was an inside work (just between Vince and Lesnar), everyone else (other talent and agents) will be pissed when they find out the truth...If it's a company-wide work, the truth would've leaked somehow...no I have to think this is a real thing...
Wrestlemania XX can NEVER be as big as the hype they made around it...but this little thingspewing from Lesnar's mouth sure as hell is bringing some more interest into his match Goldberg...but this interest is NOT McMahon driven or created...

I'm late to this dance but something is amidst in the WWE. I can't put my finger on it just yet. First Jones and now Lesnar. I agree this could all be a big BS but the WWE had invested in ole Brocky. How can he just walk away? Not to sound like Goldburg but who's next? I confused by it all anyways.

You know, YOU being confused is not exactly a...never mind, I'm sorry I even started to say that.

Nah I dont think its a work. WWE has never cared about smarks so why would they start now. Everyone thought the whole Austin situation was a work too and look what happened with that. Maybe if Russo was still booker we would be talking about a conspiracy but not with this current WWE.

Exactly. "The locker room" was specifically warned not to leak stories. (Which of course they will do anyway.) Vince seeds a worked story into the locker room (via Brock), expecting it to be leaked, in spite of the warning. The fact that it did leak is exactly the reason that nobody has a right to be pissed off that they were worked too. Vince's reply would be, "We couldn't tell you that it was a work. You would have leaked that information, just like you leaked the (worked) rumour."
"Today, former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar was released from the Cowboys, pending a police investigation. According to witnesses, he gave offensive coordinator Maurice Carthon the "F-5" wrestling manuever when Carthon refused to let him play quarterback."

Easy-peasy.
I don't know (or particularly care) if it's a work or not. But if it IS, it's the dumbest "work" of all time. Why would they do this? To "drum up interest" in a match by working a few thousand smarks?
I STILL don't give a shit about this match, even if Brock came out tomorrow on ESPN and announced the start of a pro tennis career immediately following WrestleMania. Who cares?

1) I don't think he'd be in the draft, as his graduating class already has come and gone. He'd be unrestricted, but its doubtful he'd get anything above minimum non-guaranteed, as only an idiotic team would give him a signing bonus with no experience and screw up their cap. Or, the Cardinals will give him 10 million. Same thing.

The Cardinals don't spend money. I would go for the Lions. Millen couldn't do much worse.

Man, this was the first week that I have seen Impact, and it was like sensory overload. I'm trying to watch a match, while my eyes can stray to results from Wednesday's PPV or to the time left in the match (a GREAT idea by the way).
