Nope, I still play it pretty often as well.

Then again, I have no other options as far as consoles go, but it doesn't take away the fact that No Mercy is still a damn good game. Even if I did have a PS2 or XBox, I'd probably still play it regularly.

It is beginning to get a bit dry though, as I just unlocked the Ho, and should unlock all the Championship paths soon enough. After I'm through with that, I'll probably screw around with my Gameshark and see what I can do with the game.

Speaking of which, i thought i read somewhere that if you won multiple belts, you would carry all belts to the ring, but i have yet to see that

No Mercy is cool...I actually didn't start playing it until about a month ago. Has to be one of the best if not the best wrestling game I have ever seen, although that new X-Box game looks pretty impressive. I have fun trying to survive Royal Rumble challenges, although doing it with Trish can be hard.

So what's the problem with Smackdown 3? Leaving out the graphics (which are damn nice), the moves list is awesome (the only wrestling game I've seen that has the Shining Wizard!), and it has a nice quick pace that I personally prefer to most other wrestling games. No Mercy was pretty good (the times I've played with my cousin) but the game just didn't really click for me as much as other games have. It was a fun way to pass a half hour waiting for Smackdown, but wasn't really my first (or second) choice for a video game. I'd probably place it third on my all time faves behind Smackdown 3 and WCW vs. The World (sentimental value out the wazoo!). Maybe it was the N64 game pad...

Well, it's either No Mercy or Fire Pro D. None of the other wrestling games are any good. The Smackdown series is horrible in its arcadey glory and Raw is just as bad; "I Pedigreed you 7 times, why are you getting up before I can pinyou!?!?"

But at the moment I'm praying to God that Wrestlemania X8 for GameCube keeps enough of the No Mercy style for it to be the new game that my friends and I can play and all enjoy. Right now that title goes to James Bond: Agent Under Fire for GameCube.

So, it's bad because it's "arcadey"? To each his/her own.

I haven`t had time to play it as much lately, but I still love it. If the WM GameCube game keeps the same play control style, I`ll be buying a GameCube. I recently deleted K-Kwik in No Mercy to make room for a newly created Lance Storm.

I was playing WM 2000 until I sold it and my N64, which I regret to this day. PS and PS2 have no good wrestling games. I played the hell out of Smackdown 2, but my copy is all scratched up and freezes every time I play it now. Smackdown 3 I rented and hated within minutes. The graphics are cool, but I like my matches to last more than 1:30, especially when I was fighting Kurt Angle in a Last Man Standing match for the belt. And the story mode in Smackdown 3 is horrible.

So, the N64 wrestling games were over all pretty good? THe only N64 experience I've had is with the game No Mercy, which I thought was okay. What were some of the other games (include descriptions if possible-single word descriptions do not count!)?

Story mode does kind of bite, but overall, I like the game more than Smackdown 2. But I won't front, I damn sure played SD2 so much that my playstation died and I was forced to get a ps2. BTW, GTA 3! Freakishly evil game, but for some reason, I can't stop playing it!

No Mercy is still my favorite. I got a PS2 and SD3 for Christmas... SD3 is decent... I was really blown away by the graphics, but overall, I just didn't like it as much as No Mercy. The NM gameplay style is more my taste.

I definitely like longer matches, which is a drawback for SD3 (90-second Last Man Standing...). Then again, with SD3, you are in a catch-22 for long matches because of how fast the gameplay is. If you expect your match to go 15-20 minutes, you'll need to do the same moves a shitload of times. I'm not saying there is a limited moveset by any means. It's just that all the moves are so fast, they don't expend any real length of time.

I tried an Ironman on SD3 and it was ridiculous. After about 10 minutes, I hit just about every move i had... and still had 20 minutes left in my match.

I'm still holding out for a brilliant idea I saw a couple years ago for "I Quit" matches, which would especially work with two human players. In the match, the more pain your character endures, the more money/cards you lose. If you want to continue, you can until you are bankrupt (consider this the "the character is physically unable to continue" scenario), but if you DO continue, you suffer the consequences. Now THAT would be a match with "No Mercy."

Raw for X-box has a couple of things going for it. Great graphics, decent create-a-wrestler, and the ability to attack people on the way to the ring.

It is also extremely frustrating. In multi-player, you can't land anything but punches or the third player will break it up. Throwing people to the turnbuckle is an exercise in futility. I fought X-pac with my created wrestler, the Guvna, who kicked out of all of my finishers (2 death valley drivers, super hangman's neckbreaker, dragon suplex pin, and the most disgusting move ever...the musclebuster) after this, and no offense on his part, he beat me with a hurricanrana pin.

Smackdown has the same problem, but in reverse. In SD2, after hours of story mode, I got my title match. The bell rings, HHH runs at me, I Bossman Slam him 1,2,3. It felt so hollow.

That is why No Mercy is still my favorite wrestling game. They may kick out of a few finishers. but I never feel as if they don't matter. And you can never beat anyone after no offense.

No Mercy is still my favorite (American) video wrestling game. RAW for the X-Box (yes I bought it the day it came out) is mostly like the real-life RAW. Lots of flash but no substance.

Sure creating your entrance and watching it was cool the first few times, but you just skip past it now. No question it's the best looking wrestling game ever, but you don't play the game to say "Wow, this game is so cool because the Rock's tattoo is realistic!"

Scotsman had a very good article on the perfect wrestling game over at the the**arks.com. Too bad it will never come out...

The Shining Wizard is in RAW for X-Box as well (That is one of the worst games I've ever played. Anchor should be ashamed of themselves) it's just called the "Shinning" Wizard.

No Mercy is just so much fun to play, and I only hope that the GC version is No Mercy just expanded, and updated. That would make me happy.

When it comes to play control, there's no arguing that No Mercy, WrestleMania 2000, WCW/nWo Revenge, and WCW vs. nWo World Tour were the very best series of wrestling games ever. This is all thanks to AKI who developed the game with THQ.

THQ is releasing Wrestlemania X8 for the Game Cube this spring, but it will be more like the Smackdown series on Playstation since it's being developed by those same people.

This is very unfortunate in my eyes. I was going to by a GameCube just for this game, but have decided to hold out. Wrestlemania X8 will not do well, mark my words. The play control will disappoint.

I can only hope that AKI will release another wrestling game soon.
