What I'd dream of seeing is Edge making his return and spearing both Brock and Goldberg out of the company and establish himself as a main event-level player immediately.
What will more likely happen is, first Austin stuns the two of them, followed by the Undertaker ambling to ringside, fresh after his umpteenth victory over Kane, and giving tombstones to both, sending them off to rest in peace...

"It's not all that different from Rock's situation."

There's a WORLD of difference between Brock 'n' Rock's current siuations. Rock is arguably in the top three company draws of all-time (behind Hogan and Austin), and certainly in the top five. He's got off-the-charts charisma, is aweosme in the ring-Hell he's pretty much one of the most perfect packages of wreslting goodness there is. His departure was also totally mutual, and WWE has maintained a good business relationship with him thanks to cross-promotion and his love of the biz.

Lesnar has been around all of two years, has never really been proven as a draw, has negligable charisma, is reported to be disliked amongst the locker-room, says he hates the business and is leaving unexpectedly, in essence fucking them over without so much as a "thanks for the leg-up".

Spot the difference?

Brock's going after Clinton Portis' world title belt. Good thing Portis can run ...

Can't say I buy it, but I can only rationalize it this way: What else does Brock have left to do in the WWE? He's already had the best angle anyone could want: defeating the heel champ at WrestleMania. Beat Angle. Beat Rock. Beat Hogan. Beat Taker, Supposedly beating Goldberg. Was going to beat Austin, but Steve quit. He's got his whole life ahead of him, and the WWE would be insane not to sign him again if -- IF -- he left and wanted to return later.

Still, I don't believe it, and I think this is Vince playing the IWC after complaining so much about news leaks.

OK, my Rock point was pretty weak. The main point is, he's frustrated at his job. I'm sure many of us have been there. I think his problems are w/ the political movements and travel schedule, not really w/ actually wrestling. If he's unhappy, then so be it. If I decide to change jobs because I wasn't satisfied w/ my current one, I wouldn't expect my former employer to be all "that gutless motherfucker quit on us. I hope he burns in hell." I'd rather he do this than hang around disgruntled, mailing in his performances, and hurting the product.

Lesnar has been around all of two years, has never really been proven as a draw, has negligable charisma, is reported to be disliked amongst the locker-room, says he hates the business and is leaving unexpectedly,

1) draw - OK, fair criticism.
2) disliked? Doesn't matter, as long as he gets it done in the ring & doesn't hurt the company.
3) negligible charisma? His mic skills have greatly improved, plus he's got a great ring presence. Charisma is more than being able to work the mic. He looks like a legit bad ass, and can throw guys like Show around w/ ease. He's got charisma.

I'm pretty sure he's friendly w/ Austin, so I doubt he'd mind taking a Stunner post-match. However, I wouldn't have Goldberg punk him out.

Just a truly bizarre story... speculating if this is a work or not is kind of like speculating whether Austin leaving in 2002 was a work or not, it seems pretty damn legit and pointless for the WWE to try and leak this to the net, just to try and get some smarts to buy it. Pretty insignificant as far as $$$ in Vince's pockets go... Lesnar will be back, he's still young and pretty damn talented in the ring... he's been improving on the mic as well, although in fairness there isn't really that much for him to do anymore that's fresh. There isn't a money feud like he had with Angle back in 2002-03. But, more power to him. This really hurts the WWE though, this leaves a big hole at the top of the card. Angle, then they have to elevate someone (Big Show? Yeck.). Perhaps a roster trade of some sort is in order, although I hope that WWE doesn't hotshot it and @#%$ it up.

The article on pwtorch.com has that little tidbit. Apparently Brock also has a kid with another woman, thats probably who you were thinking of. Not sure if they were married or not.

Man I just hope Sable leaves too, I find her VERY annoying. Hell, I feel the same about Torrie Wilson too. Man SD is in trouble now. I also think these ECW rumors are true so WWE will now have to worry about a third brand. I would say give SD RVD but ECW will need him a lot more. I say send Kane to Smackdown after Mania and continue his feud with Taker. I also think Heyman should get fired, Steph gets her GM job back and Heyman reforms ECW. He then starts invading Smackdown shows. This could start a Smackdown/ECW feud. You could even have a RVD/Gurrero match headline a PPV. Then eventually ECW would form its own show and leave Smackdown.

Everybody's workin' for the weekend... Sorry, just don't buy it. It's entirely possible, but all this Brock stuff came up entirely out of nowhere in the last two weeks or so.

Steve Austin stormed off without giving any notice to avoid jobbing to Brock Lesnar, of all people. Then he went home and beat up his wife. And the fans, with the exception of myself, forgave him, however inexplicable that still seems.

With the amount of money the WWE has invested in Brock, they almost have to let him come back if he ever decides he wants to in order to get a return on their investment. If he ever leaves, that is.

At least some day maybe I'll understand why some day maybe you never can. Or something like that.

Yeah, again, not really. They've been talking about this stuff for a couple months.

The difference, I think, between Austin and Lesner is that this is a 24 yr. old kid here.
He comes into wrestling, gets pushed harder and at a younger age than Angle. He sees one of his "best friends", Curt Hennig, mess up, get fired, and OD in his early 40's - way too young.
He's got a baby-mama drama going on at home, like many other young guys I know. I'm sure it's killer on him with all the traveling not to see his first baby much. (Allegedly Austin was going thru similar stuff when he left with his kids moving to England.)
I read where he's been hurting physically, too, yet I haven't seen him off the show much. (Like Austin at the time.)
As far as the Sable thing - she's only a couple of years younger than me. She has a kid who's not much younger than Lesner. She should have more common sense than she's showing now. This kid don't need to be hooking up with her. He's got enough problems.
I think if going through all this, then he's doing the right thing. He don't need to end up messed up.
NFL's got that steroid testing thing going, don't they? If it gets him or keeps him off the stuff, I say it's a good move.

Give the kid a break.

"Give the kid a break."

No. The company made a commitment to him for two full years. I'd be willing to give the kid a break if he'd come forward, said, "gimme a month off, I'll come back on a lmited schedule and spend the next thre emonths putting some guys over, then I'll ride off into the sunset". But he hasn't. He's just fucked 'em over without anything in return. And sorry, I don't car ehow f'ed up he is, he could've worked aorund it in order to give the fed a little something back before calling it a day. Lok at the commitment and dedication shown by Rocky. Look at the injuries Foley went through. Hell, Angle wrestled with a potentially paralysing injury at Mania last year, and just to put the guy over!

After reading all of this about Brock today, rsn kind of echoed my thoughts. I mean, yes the guy is big and he's athletic, but (and correct me if I'm wrong) wouldn't it take some legit GOOD football skills to play in the NFL? There are guys coming out of college football programs that can't make the cut in the NFL. What makes him so sure he can make it? No matter how bad your job is, its always scary going from a guaranteed income (and plush one at that) to possibly no income at all.

My first impression/thoughts were "what a whiner" but in actuality, who am I to pass judgment when I don't know what is really going on backstage. The WWE is like any other job--even if some of these guys make more money than any of us will ever see--there are good points and bad points, and certainly a lot of politics. Maybe he is just fed up with everything, and there is more to the story than we will ever know.

So, while I still am skeptical on his decision, I say good luck, Brock, in whatever you do. Just don't bank all your money on making it to the NFL.
