OK, I have a question. I will disclose that I currently own 1000 shares of the stock I am asking about.

Check out the volume on Ambient ABTG

This is like the 4th time I've seen big volume on this stock at the end of the trading day. Is this a normal, timed trade, or does it look like someone is manipulating the share price through last minute trades?

I'm confused. I'm in at $.199 and I'm trying to figure out if I should just take my $200 profit or let this ride.

A question I'd have is do these 4 surges in volume coincide with the filing of the 8K?
If you could have jumped out earlier in the day when it was up to .55 and up .11, that would have been the time. That's probably the cause for high volume, as people probably saw/manuevered a 20% increase for the day and then bailed out with a quick hit. I'd probably pay attention to see if this happens again in the next few days, in which case I'd see if I can catch it on the rise and get out on the high end. Probably keep an eye on it around 12-12:30 pacific to see if late day activity is occurring. Its your option and I don't want to be held liable for any decision (damn it, I'm covering myself these days).

Hmmm, its been 12 months since I did finance and the memory's a little hazy on top of which the terminology in the link isn't what I was weened on, but I'll give it a shot.

OK, scenario 1. If as I'm assuming the volume mentioned in the link is the number of open positions in the stock at the end of trading then it does seem a bit odd. The stock is hella volatile (25% total fluctuaion in one trading period) and would thus be primarily appealing to day traders hoping to make a quick buck. Adopting a large longer term position (short or long) would be a hell of a risky and it seems unlikely that a sufficient number of smaller traders would be present to explain the volume.

BUT if its scenario 2 and the volume is simply the total traded during the day then I wouldn't be alarmed. Volatile shares are attractive to day traders with little better to do all day than watch the pretty patterns the graphs make and hope to manipulate them for profit.

Either way I'd get out. Abnormal profits ain't easy to come by and with the share being so volatile you could easily get burned down the line, especially if its Scenario 1 and manipulation is going on.

Of course if its Scenario 3 and all I've succeeded in doing is boring the pants of you, I apologise ;)

Well, here's the thing. These guys do Broadband over power lines - and they recently got a pretty big investment (for them) from Earthlink. Couple that with BPL trials in Cincinnati and the whole BPL sector is seeing some interest.

Now, BPL will probably crash and burn because it apparently eats up spectrum that HAM operators use. Still, I'm thinking (without any real good reason to think so) that undeground wires might not propagate this interference, and if Cincinnati has underground wires, and it works, that BPL might get a lot more interesting in cities with underground wires.

So... does Cincinnati have underground wires or mainly above ground wires?

Any HAM operators seeing massive interference recently?

Ah, I'm afraid thats not really a market I know a whole lot about.

Given the volatility in the share though it would appear that the market at large seems pretty unsure about where things are going. The overall trend appears to be upward but basing predictions on future performance on what has gone in the past is almost always doomed to failure.

Like I say, everything I remember about finance would be screaming at me to get out while the going's good (and that coming from someone who believes it is possible to exploit the market if you know what you're doing).

By all means feel free to stick it out and mock me with your new found wealth when it arrives, but percentage wise youve netted a pretty tidy profit there so I'd be seeking out other alternatives.

There's the conservative (read "chickenshit") strategy of "sell half". Sell half of it at $.50. You recoup all your "initial investment" plus a little profit. Hold the other half. If it tanks altogether, you've lost nothing (& made enough for a nice bottle of wine.) If it succeeds, takes off, & goes to something respectable like $10 or $20, you've kept enough to make a pleasant little profit for zero net risk.

(Just a thought.)

Considering it dropped a little under 20% today, I hope you got out.

Eh. It's a $200 hedge that I'm holding. I fully expect to lose all $200.

But... just in case...

I've been looking over the OKCupid stuff, and the women mostly seem to be about five years younger than me and the pickings in my area seem rather slim. Still, I'll be sticking it out.
