Oh no - a "This is your life Mick Foley" segment? Man, hopefully this won't be nearly as long as the "This is your life Rock" segment from '99.

Blue lights and a dirt-enshrouded casket occupy a smoke-filled ring whilst chanting is heard.

Fighting evil by moonlight, winning love by daylight, never running from a real fight, becuase it is time to WAKE UP! Because it's time for Raw, live from Bridgeport, Conn...and a Fashion Report, too!

In the back, Kane watches the monitor and the casket. Soonly, Kane, in black tights with red barbedwire stripes, comes down to the ring. Once in the ring, Kane destroys the casket and picks a golden urn out of the wreckage. Kane proceedes to cut a Raven-esque promo. Then the music, lights, lightning, and a hydraulicly-jacked ring ensue.

Rocky blows shit up...in his new movie.

Already in the ring, La Res, in yellow "La Resistance" undies, Jindrak, in red "Jindrak" undies, and Cade, in red undies with silver hips, vs. RVD, in black singlet with oriental dragon, carrying the Tag Title, and BookerT, in black hot-crotch flamin' "BookerT" undies, wearing the Tag Title (sporting a remixed entrance theme), and the Dudlyes, Bubba in black "3D" jersey and black/gold camo shorts, Bubba in sleeveless black "Dudley Boyz 3D" tshrit and black/gold camo pants, with FOOTAGE! Mike Chioda officiates. Jindrak pins Booker. A poor (rushed) match.

In the back, Jericho talks to Trish on his cell phone. Christian! punks him out and delivers an uber-heel message to Trish - on Jericho's own phone, no less!

JR, in black suit with white pinstriped shirt and black tie, and Lawler, in black "WrestleMania XX" tshirt, eating a pizza, show FOOTAGE! from moments ago.

Some whiney bitch interviews Booker and RVD. Ooo - did you see that look RVD gave in Booker's direction?

FOOTAGE! of "This is your life Rock"

In the back, Rock walks and talks to Hurricane and Rosey. Good-natured antics ensue. Coach arrives and goatee talk leads to some Rocky abuse.

Evolution: Flair in red "RF" undies, Batista in grey undies with arcing red flame, and Randy in red "Orton" undies with black hip scrawl, wearing the IC Title, vs. Hurricane and Rosey, both in the same thing as ever. Chad Patton is the referee. Batista powerbombs Hurricane for the pin. Post-match, Orton (and his unwholesomely-protruding package - I CAN'T HELP IT! IT'S RIGHT THERE!) cuts a promo.

FOOTAGE! of last week's Benoit/Shawn vs. Randy/Batista match, and the ensuing beatdown.

Benoit, in blue tights with black slashes, vs. Mattitude, in black/silver open shirt and white pants with black pockets and silver swirls. Hebner officiates. Crossface -> submission.

JR is in the ring to interview Benoit. Benoit promises a win at WrestleMania. That brings out Shawn, in black "The Source of Strength/Armed for Battle" tshirt and blue jeans. They shake hands and HHH, in black suit and blue shirt (top two buttons open), the Heavyweight Title on his shoulder, to belittle the pair.

In the back, Mick walks. Spike Dudley chats with him, having nothing better to do.

Lita, in a very busy black tanktop, black shorts, pink left armwrap and stockings, vs. Molly, in black top with silver front and black pants, with FOOTAGE! Jack Doan referees. A rope-aided rollup->pin for Molly. Post-match, Victoria, in cyan, smiles.

FOOTAGE! of Austin trying to run-over Vince from last week.

FOOTAGE! of the Goldberg vs. Lesnar story, starting at the Royal Rumble, with Austin, too!

Presently, Austin, in black sleeveless skull-and-crossbeers tshirt and blue jeans, drinks beer, blabs, and drinks beer.

Jericho, in blue/silver silhoutte tights, with much FOOTAGE!, vs. Stevie, in black "Stevie Night Heat" fullcuts. Mike Chioda is the referee. Mid-match, Christian interrupts with Trish's music, allowing Stevie to get the win. Post-match, Jericho destroys Stevie.

A rundown of WW Hall of Fame inductees.

In Bisch's Room of Fun, Stacie and Jackie act all ditzy-blonde whilst talking crap about Torrie and Sable. Bisch's bitch arrives (Johnny-Something) to mack on the honeys. Woah - all of a sudden Bisch is on the scene, congratulating the bitch. (Really, Johnny, I don't care about you - unless you actually wrestle I will continue to denigrate you.)

JR and Lawler run down the Raw matches for WrestleMania. Damn - Rocky's tatoo IS totally taking-over his torso! Cole and Tazz run down the Smackdown! portion of the card. JR and Lawler then do the interpromotional matches.

TheRock gets lost backstage...or so I would believe.

Rock, in black sleeveless "How long's it been/Since you got an ass whoopin'?" tshirt and black warmups with white vertical stripes. Mick, in the flannell, "WrestleMania XX" tshirt and black sweatpants, is out. Someone, just stick a pencil up my nose, in my ear, or anything so I can enjoy this "humor". FINALLY Evolution brings it with the beatdown

Overall: Well, it certainly pimped for Wrestlemania. And it did a dang good job of it, too, not sparing a segment for anything not PPV-related. But it seemed like too much time was spent on the "This is your life Mick" segment and not enough time spent on the Triple-Threat match.

Austin may have set a record that not even Trip could break: He buried two locker rooms in less than 10 seconds. Not bad for a non-wrestler.
Wow, the ring has hydraulics. That's nowhere near as impressive as when Paul Wight tore apart the WCW ring with Hall and Nash in it.
Funny, the two interpromotional male matches only have one of the contestants actually appearing to hype the match.
I was getting close to filing a missing person's report for Uncle Eric until his meaningless cameo appearance.

Awful, awful, awful Raw. Not 1 good match, and nothing really changed or was forwarded storyline-wise. Pretty much a "hey, remember these guys/girls have a match this Sunday!" show.

Misc. stuff:

--highlight of the night was the Helms/Rosey/Rock/Coach segment

--somebody convince Matt Hardy to lock Lita in the basement, so I never have to watch her "wrestle" again. Worst. Headscissors. Ever.

--it was "Johnny Spade". Apparently "Johnny Blaze" is a comic book character, and apparently the WWE aren't to keen on getting sued (again), thus the new name.

--"This Is Your Life" - woof.

Thumbs way down.

I felt Foley/Orton was the best booked thing on the card but since Rock was added it lost value. Foley lost the comedy and became the nutty Cactus Jack like persona, now with The Rock it has become a joke again. WMania wouldve been much better off with a Foley/Orton Hell in the Cell. I guess maybe that can headline Backlash instead.

RAW Thoughts:

Kane promo was allright, just the kind of stuff we've seen before....The 8-man tag was kind of a rush job, and seemed to accomplish little (other than the teams don't like each other, which I think most of us could figure on our own)....Christian's attack was well-done, BUT WHO WAS DRIVING THE GETAWAY CAR?!?!?....The new interviewee sucks based on facial expressions alone....The Rock/Hurricane/Coach stuff was good, but didn't really serve a purpose (I guess you could say they were picking upr from where the Rock/Hurricane stuff left off last time)....Try watching that 3 on 2 match with a Hurricane mark. I think he's scarred for life after that beating....Matt Hardy jobs again, film at 11....Poor Benoit. I can he show off if he's improved on the mic if he's given little chance to do so?....

Nice of Trips to break up the energy with a little monotany....Johnny Spade? I still don't care until they put him in the ring....ANOTHER short match with Molly beating Lita, with Victoria making the save....Surprisingly short promo from Austin....Why couldn't Hardy have gotten the cheap win over Jericho, and have Richards job to Benoit? Hardy has more long-term value than Stevie at this point, and doing another clean job wouldn't hurt Stevie as much as it continues to hurt V1....Call me sophmoric, but I was ROLLING with laughter over the last segment. Those guys work so well together....For a normal RAW, this was pretty good- for the last one before The Big One, it was only decent.

I still remember watching the first "This Is Your Life" segment. I was laughing in embarrassment at what I was watching. I also remember the rating it got. You almost have to wonder what took them so long.

The ending could have only gone two ways...an Evolution beatdown or a Rock heel turn...and I couldn't see the point in a Rock heel turn. The segment overall was fun, but I did kind of expect them to bust out Yurple.

Rock's segment with Hurricane and Rosey looked something like a false start, but Rosie had the line of the night when he announced what movie he ended up seeing.

I don't think I could be less excited for the Triple Threat main if they threw Kidman into it. Triple H's promo did not help matters. His promos are getting as plodding as his (increasingly rare) matches. Shut up already.

How cool would it have been if Pete Rose came out of the casket?

Nice haircut, Spike.

Is there actually a pizza chain selling Wrestlemania pizzas? And if so, did Lawler ever bother to mention who they are?

everything on the show was pretty decent, except it all got bogged down by the total lack of heat from the crowd. i mean c'mon, austin, foley, and rock were *feeding* the cheap pop lines to the crowd and the audience still didn't let loose more than a meager yelp. on that same note, the "book reviewer" got the most heel heat out of everybody tonight.

it says so right here in the wcw handbook!

what does it take to get a higher ranking around here? i already know what it takes to get a lower one! :-P

Considering what happened to the other 'person' the writers changed the name of, do you think Johnny was glad he didn't have to announce his new name until after Kane and the casket were over with?

Would it have been so bad to throw Goldberg a few extra bucks to have him make ONE appearence to hype the big main event with Brock?

When the crowd totally turns on Goldberg Sunday, they'll have no one to blame but themselves. I speak in reference to ALL parties involved here.

Edge: So Triple H wants me to come to Raw and fight him for the big gold belt. I've TOTALLY passed you on the card.
Jericho: Yeah, but while Triple H is burying you, I get to make out with Trish in front of millions. You tell ME who the winner is here, junior!

Taker/Kane: Well, there's the urn. Proof positive of Paul Bearer's presence at Mania.

Mick, This is your life: felt to me like there was a lot of uncomfortable silence and pausing in this segment while people remembered their lines. This albatross dragged. Far too much discussion of pastries. It was uncomfortable, watching them all flub their lines (Hey, Rock, this ain't a movie set--only one take, bud), I was waiting impatiently for the beat down. Which brings us to the segment culminating in a predictable beat-down, a blown opportunity to do something interesting with story-line, a last-minute twist or teaser to draw the undecideds and keep people interested. Basically, your last glimpse of RAW before Mania was a bad joke told badly. A pity.

Hey, has The Rock lost about 25 pounds? His neck looked really skinny. Could that be the same 25 pounds that Triple H "found"?

SHG: "Orton (and his unwholesomely-protruding package - I CAN'T HELP IT! IT'S RIGHT THERE!) cuts a promo."

Gawd! I've been waiting for someone to bring this up! I mean, we can all see it for chrissakes! Jesus, Randal, buy a jock strap! Get something in leather, anything! But jesus, boy, do something with your unit other than poking it right in the damn camera!

Triple threat: What do you know, Triple H and I agree on something; he should only be facing one opponent at Mania. That said, I was glad to see nobody punked out Benoit tonight, and he gets one night headed into MSG where he doesn't get knocked out cold! Benoit's getting a little better on the mic: strong silent type. I think he's trying harder.

Shitty Raw, I think. It was more of a commercial for Wrestlemania than a contribution to the story of Wrestlemania.

This is as close to the old WWF Wrestling Challenge star vs. jobber shows as we're likely to see. Nary a good match on RAW tonight, though I must admit that I enjoyed the This Is Your Life routine. I thought for certain that Evolution were going to show up and attack Snuka and the old lady, just so Orton could add a couple more notches to his legend-killer belt....well, the old lady is a legend in her, uh, neighbourhood...ok, fine.

Though having Snuka in the corner of the face team is a very nice WM1 shoutout. All we need now is someone to show up wearing a cast (perhaps Flair for his bad neck).

Raw Opinions:

(1)I think they should have showed the Undertaker but only in a shadow appearance like at the entrance area. I think that would have really brought down the house without exposing the face of the dead man or having him speak a single word

(2)I really hope they can the Evolution stuff after Wrestlemania. I agree with most, the gang ups are really getting old now. HHH is a horrible champion and I think him having a big say in creative control is hurting Raw.

(3)Why so many squash matches tonight? (Hurricane, Steven Richards etc) Why???????

(4)Molly has a great ass but why does she never wear shorts or show any skin? In all seriousness, she is a great wrestler and her match with Victoria hopefully will be based on their wrestling abilities.

(5)Lawler ordering a pizza? Why waste airtime with that?

(6)Rock really has a great microphone personalty and really can work a crowd although the "your life" segment was long winded with a horrible ending.

(7) Is it me or should they dump the S.H.I.T gimmick with Rosie. That has to be one of worst gimmicks in ages.

(8) Surprised no Vince McMahon tonight. Speaking of McMahon's I wonder if Shane is going to make a appearance somewhat at WM XX.

I forgot to bring this up in my earlier post, but maybe someone out there can shed a little light on this for me....

Was it just me, or did Jimmy Snuka look really shakey and haggard in the Mick Foley segment? It looked like he has a mild case of Parkinson's disease or something. Anyone know about the state of Snuka's health?

Woah, I was thinking the exact same thing...

As for Lawler ordering pizza, it was out of place, but it wasn't exactly a waste of time. It only lasted, what, 30 seconds?

I agree with Mr. Heel II about Pete Rose in the casket, I would have died laughing.

But I agree, Raw wasn't so strong. But since I mark out for the two brands simply because they're on, it could have been worse. Highlights were Rosey/Hurricane/Rock segment (How many others knew it was gonna be Hurricane before he came on screen?); This is your Life, Mick Foley (the pie inuendos were good); and Benoit in general.

HHH: You two had better stop your ambiguiously gay excersions before I kick you happy asses out of Evolution, damn it! (H yelling at Ric & Randy from 'God Knows', http://www.fanfiction.net/.)

Yeah - Snuka is going to Wrestlemania...again!
I really like that decision!

Add those 10+1 Hall of fame legends,
Flair wrestling,
Heenan commentating,
Paul Bearer managing the old Taker and hundreds of WM-History-clips
and nostalgia will indeed run wild this Sunday!

By the way: Personally I donīt even miss the Hulkster! The card sounds fantastic without him and he had his final run at WM X9!
And X8!
And IX!
And VIII! Didnīt he retire back then? ;)
