For the 1st time in a long time, to me, he looked like a killer. Still trying to get used to the Undisputed title thing but anyway. The dog segments were funny, typical Y2J stuff. On a side note, doesn't it suck that one of the most sadistic men in the WWF is all chummy over a damn bulldog? But when the plan unfolded, Y2J looked impressive beating down Triple H like that. Then again, maybe it was Triple H that made it play out so well. What do you guys think. And what's up with those damn pants??

In a delicious turn of events, Jericho performed a mad beatdown on HHH with a sledgehammer. I thought that the WWF took a big step in making Jericho look like a real champ. He still has to cheat to win, but now he seems vicous as well.

And Ross sold it "deliciously" as "Stephanie's plan". The entire episode revolved around a goddamned dog and Steph's big ass. I <3 wrestling, I dig the WWF, but the booking has officially transcended anything resembling "good".

Who were those guys at the end of the show, anyway? I didn't hear them mentioned, I lost track....

Hoo hah.

Anybody else yelling at the TV "One more time!" during the sledgehammer attack?

Me! Me! Me!

Jericho has to win on Sunday... we're in Canada, for crying out loud, and other than last night, Jericho has been completely inconsequential in the buildup to the title match. Vince needs to make a star here, and the only way he can do that is by putting Jericho over Trips cleanly.

Yeah, I'm dreaming about the clean part, but Jericho MUST win...

I'd prefer HHH to win it this time - since I'm kinda tired of the heel walking out as the World Champion after WM. I'm still pissed off that Rock jobbed at WM16 to HHH - that was pretty pointless, IMO. Especialy when he ended up getting the title the very next month at Backlash - which is an In Your House PPV.

BUT - I'm also torn b/c if Jericho beats HHH - that would probably put Jericho over the top.

Can't decide, really.

The sledgehammer bit was good. All the sucky segments to get there wasn't. If they had to use the stupid dog thing, why couldn't they just have Stephanie bring the stupid dog to the ring, tell HHH if he wants it, come and get it. Then that sets up Jericho beating the hell out of HHH w/ the sledgehammer and taking the damn stupid dog with him.

You still get to point 'B' without all those stupid segments (which I guess are suppose to be funny, but they are failing on that front).

Good point. For that matter, why even do it in the ring? They could have done the whole thing exactly the way you stated, only backstage and used only a quarter the air time.

As a dog owner, I can readily attest to the fact that dog poop is not funny. And that pile on RAW looked big enough for 3 dogs that size.

Back to the topic, I was impressed with Jericho's ruthlessness last night, but the show went straight into the toilet when that dog angle started. It's sad to see a championship feud overshadowed by a lame divorce angle. If Jericho had been as nasty for the last few months as he was last night, he might be seen as a credible champ by the casual fans.

Well, there was something similar with Flair-Savage at WM8. Only MAJOR difference was, unlike Stephanie, Elizabeth wasn't interjecting herself into the World Title feud and overshadowing Flair and Savage.

The only thing missing from the attack was Y2J getting on the mic and saying, "HHH and Judy: 2 crippled bitches!". That would have RULED!!!! But it didn't happen.

I don't mind the steph/hhh thing. I think it is unnecesary, just like Debra/Rock last year. But as long as she is not involved in the end of the match, I will be happy. But then again, her dad was involved in the Main Event last year. *sigh*

Actually, Kawshen, Rock jobbing to Triple H was not only not pointless but also rather necessary for the WWF's future at that point. It's all explained in my last Being the Bookerman column (link below! go read it now! *thumbs up*) but the general gist is that Vinnie needed a legit main event heel, and if Triple H had lost, he probably would not be the star he is today.

Exactly, which is why Vince needs to do it. The Triplets are all faces. No one will buy the Undertaker or any members of the NWO as champion because of their age. Kurt Angle is seriously devalued because of the September Screwup. Booker T is nothing. Who's left to be a main event (i.e. title-holding) heel? Jericho. He's the whole heel main event picture right now. Vince needs to put Jericho over the top or the WWF will be screwed because there'll be no one legit for the faces to chase once the split happens.

Which is yet another reason why Jericho has to go over at Wrestlemania. He hasn't truly been bought as the Undisputed Champion yet because the divorce angle has overshadowed EVERYTHING and made Jericho look like a walking sitting duck. If this angle is going to make him a star, he HAS to get the first real shot in.

The only difference is, they pulled the plug on the Debra/Rock thing the week before the show and just let Rock and Austin do their thing. I don't see that happening here.

Sorry, Texas Kelly, but I respectfully disagree with your comments. Here's why.

You do have a point in the logic of having HHH go over at WM16.

But what irks me a great deal stil to this day is that HHH had VERY LITTLE to do with the outcome of that World Title match. HHH wasn't the one who was put over. He did not beat the Rock. VINCE MCMAHON did. We didn't see HHH celebrating his successful title defense at the end of WM16. We saw Vince and Stephanie hugging in the ring which led to a feeble handing out of uranages to all three McMahons and a People's Elbow to Stephanie. Yuck.

Having seen that finish and considering the build-up to WM16, I fail to see why Rock shouldn't have took it. I don't think HHH would've been SO BADLY DAMAGED if he jobbed. Especially after those awesome matches against Foley in the previous 2 months. Like I said before, he wasn't the one that was seen as a victor that day. Vince McMahon was.

Even putting aside the "Face Leaves Wrestlemania as Champ" tradition that was broken that year. I'm certain those Californians came to see Rock win the title that day. The build-up was pretty much focused in a culmination of Rock winning the World Title after losing it the year before - but the ending we DID get was just (IMO) C-H-E-A-P, made Wrestlemania look like "just another PPV" and made Rock look like a supreme CHOKER. And when Rock finally DID win the World Title (which wasn't even a clean win) - they gave him a half-assed 20-day reign before putting back on HHH. I like Hunter and all - but gimme a break here.

If it was me with the book - I would've had Rock win the title at WM16 - THEN lose it back to HHH at Judgement Day in that AWESOME, AWESOME Iron Man Match they had.

Call me a Rock mark, because I am. I admit it. But I still don't think the right guy went over at WM16 - especially considering the events that followed it.

Maybe HHH winning doesn't work because he's not really a TRUE (as in pure) "face" character?

And that being the case, I say it makes more sense to put Jericho over.

The fly in the ointment, though, is Steph. Her being involved means you don't get the most benefit, for future booking plans, out of Y2J winning.

Either way you're screwed. Damn you sports entertainment!

Yep, Steph being involved pretty much guarantees victory for Y2J. It sucks but if Jericho can keep this up, it won't be so bad. And trash those damn checkered pants.

as much as the whole "dog" angle sucks, I will laugh if a stagehand on Smackdown or at WM sees HHH and says, "Why the long face? You look like someone just ran over your dog."

"Your mother ate my dog!"
