I am unsure if this has been brought up yet, and I apologize if it has, but what do the Forumites think if...

Benoit gets jipped from his WM win? I mean there is so much hype for him NOT to win (which could just be a way of building more suspense for the match or purchases on purpose, though I hate conspiracy theories).

I mean, although HBK is popular with the crowd, I don't think he'll be the one that is fully backed up when he goes out there, and over the last few weeks, I haven't really heard or seen reactions from the people when HHH is out doing his deal, except when I read he gets big cheers from the house show crowds.

The long winded point of this is; say the "less-popular" wrestler wins (HHH/HBK), cleanly, especially HHH. Does anybody think the fans in attendance in MSG will be so disappointed or jaded or in disgust that they litter the ring or get riled up or jump the rail because what they obviously did was pay a lot of money for what they see as a total letdown and slap in the face by the WWE. What does anybody think?

They really haven't been playing up Benoit's struggle very well since the first week he jumped. That's the main problem with sticking Michaels in there is that it's diluted the issue. Fans don't have one babyface to get fully behind, they're just confused now.

The New York fans have always been a little iffy on Michaels like the time he got booed against Sid so they might be more inclined to boo him during his exchanges with Chris Benoit. I don't think there would be outrage from them if Michaels won but if they were to end the show with Triple H retaining his title, I do think there would be a lot of unhappy people. WWE did that once and I doubt they'll do it again. If HHH isn't losing his strap, I doubt the match will go on last.

Depends on a couple of factors.

If the triple threat goes last and HHH wins, the fans may indeed throw a fit. As someone in attendance, I sure will. If it's not last, then I could see the fans being pissed but expecting Eddie to go over Angle in the main event.

If Michaels wins, I doubt the fans will be disappointed. He's a fan favorite. I'll personally be pissed off because I want Chris Fucking Benoit to win, and Chris Fucking Benoit only. It'll be interesting to see what the mark-to-smark ratio will be at WMXX, but Michaels' in-ring ability gives him support across the board. I would love it if the fans were overwhelmingly in support of Benoit over Shawn. However, with the rumored HHH vs Benoit Backlash event, it's leaning on HHH winning rather than HBK.

Call this absurd thinking, but in an earlier post, I discussed an ECW event where Lawler/RVD/Sabu beat up the ECW locker room and then the crowd went nuts when Taz came out for the save.

But after just listening to Taz's ECW theme (War Machine by KISS), which suits his character awesomely and has that "crowd explosion" feel to it, at least to me, this idea popped into my head.

Say HHH wins and the crowd is angry, I think it would be really interesting if this music began to play and the old Taz walked out and evil-eyed HHH and all that stuff.

I know this doesn't have a place anywhere storyline wise and really has nothing to do with the match in anyway, but I think it would be pretty cool.

Again, just a weird idea.

While I would love to see an all-out riot (a "safe" one, if possible) that damaged WWE cameras, lighting, HHH, the ring, and the WrestleMania XX set if HHH won, I don't think it will happen.

The worst that will happen at WrestleMania XX is that HHH gets a few boos, the fans go home, and it's "business as usual" on RAW the next night. Again.

I don't think think Benoit has been built well going into this match as the determined underdog. He seems more like the dangerous veteram who has a gew good submission moves that can hurt HHH or HBK as they try to kill each other.

Then again, the MSG crowd has been known to do almost the opposite of what WWE hypes in the weeks beforehand, so when all 3 are out in MSG, I wouldn't be surprised if Benoit got the pop of the night. Then, lost.

Can't agree there. At the VERY least you'll see a litter attack and a VERY loud "Bullshit" chant if he goes over. And with good cause.

I was sort've thinking along similiar lines during the Angle beatdown last night.

As I was watching, I thought, "What if Tazz just came up from behind and choked Kurt out?"

Which would make no sense and totally fuck up the main event, but I just wanted someone to bail Eddie out at that moment.

If the triple-threat is the main and HHH goes over, that will be baaaad. Real bad. Even if payback's at Backlash for Benoit, it will leave a bad taste in people's mouths.

Which is not to say they won't do it....

I, for one, would join in that chant. I don't know if I'd stoop as low as throwing litter, but if my beer cup is empty and I've got no place better to put it....hmmm...I'll have to see when that time comes! :)

i don't care if this match is fist, middle or last. HHH should not leave with thi sbelt. And i dont't straight up hate him like a lot of ppl (yet he's not close to my fav either) but if he does doe sit not prove that he is out of control with power. Like ithought it was ludacris last year for him to leave with belt at mania 19. If it ends with him on top (even losing by dq oor whatevr to keep belt) is unacceptable in my mind and vince has a choke chain on him, like a pussy wipped man.

just my opinion though

It not only doesn't have a place anywhere storyline-wise, it also makes no sense because he's a fat little color commentator and has been for three years. I'm not even sure half of the audience is at all familiar with Taz the ECW asskicker with his suplays and lariats and Brooklyn boots and concrete cracks.

One would figure that if they continue to push Bob Holly on everyone as a super tough badass, they could do the same with Taz - but then again, they gave Bob Holly a world title feud too, and that sucked.

Also HHH being a foot taller than Taz might hurt the visual a little bit.

I think the most interesting thing about Wrestlemania will be the placement of the big matches. The big, advertised "main events" for the past couple years (Austin/Rock and Hogan/McMahon last year, and Rock/Hogan at X8) have been around the middle of the show, leaving the main event slot for the World title. Now, in my mind, that leaves either Eddie/Angle or HHH/Benoit/HBK to go on last.

Now, call me crazy, but I am getting this vibe that Angle is going to go over Eddie, so putting that on last is out. (Remember, the crowd shit on the end of 2000 with the heel going over).

So, by my logic, the Triple Threat goes on last. Taking into consideration that:

A. HHH supposedly doesn't want to work with Benoit past Wrestlemania

3. HHH is also (supposedly)taking some time off after WM,

XIV. Benoit winning the title by beating HHH sets up an angle for HHH to feud with Benoit, which would go against Hunter's wishes

23A. Benoit winning by beating Michaels ALSO sets him up for more matches with HHH (you didn't beat ME for MY belt)

F. Michaels winning by beating Benoit OR HHH sets up not only Michaels v. Benoit, but more Michaels v. HHH, which Hunter would probably go for

the most likely finish is Michaels going over.

Considering the Lesnar Royal Rumble winner precedent of last year, the Benoit match should be the main event at Mania (winner of Rumble faces champ in main event of Mania helps make Rumble special).
IF the Michaels knee injury is legit, he probably doesn't win. Also, historically, Michaels has drawn shit as a face champion.
Next, you must analyze using WWF/E logic, not real logic. The tag for the show is Where it All Begins Again. Now, if its viewed as a beginning, that means you have a heel champ walk out, as the fans will have to build up a hatred for the heel for his eventual downfall. Thus, Trip walks out with the belt. Now, for where convoluted McMahon logic supercedes convoluted WWF/E logic. You get the Benoit/Trip rematch in Edmonton, where everyone knows Benoit is going over, so they have a sold out crowd. Now, the fans have already paid for their seats one way or another. What better way (not using real logic, using their logic) to help Vince's son-in-law get heel heat than recreating (for the 1,239,803rd time) the Montreal screw job. Trip gets heel heat, Benoit gets screwed, Vince gets a hard-on without Viagra, thus, everyone is happy in McMahonland, as they begin the journey to Mania XXI, where this time they will let a face win the belt from Vince's son-in-law (well, at least until they get to the build-up to that match, when Trip argues yet again how he is viewed as weak and needs the win and the belt to give Vince a grandchild).

The problem with that is that Raw is booked so as to make HHH happy, and he won't be happy spending another month with Benoit.

And what's this hooey about Michaels' knee? This is the first I've heard of it.

Michaels has a torn ACL, but is working through it until WrestleMania. Presumably he'd take time off after that, though I'm sure he could tough out another month if he wins the belt (and then loses to Benoit at Backlash).

My problem isn't necessarily that HHH himself keeps retaining the belt (though, in a way, it also would since I can't stand HHHim), but just that to have the heel win such an important match at WM is bad storytelling. HHH winning at Wrestlemania 16 set a horrible precedent that had to happen just once, so crowds wouldn't just automatically assume that the face is going over every single time. But HHH also got the deuce last year over Booker T, ruining the 'Booker overcomes a tough life and racism to win the title' storyline entirely. Now, it's Benoit who is the inspirational favourite (and even won the freaking Royal Rumble) and his dream could very well be shat upon again. Bullshit.

The only heel who should win one of the major matches at WM is Lesnar. Other than that, let's have faces sweep the board.

MH: What’s a clever way to say that I have a penis?
CJ: Uh…Mark, nobody’s going to buy that shirt.
MH: How about if I say that I’ve got…a…uh…?
CJ: Coming up with T-Shirt ideas is hard Mark, why not leave it to the WWE marketing department.
MH: I know! I’ve got it!
CJ: Got what?
MH: Stank! That’s Mah Stank! I’m gonna make a fortune!!
CJ: “That’s Mah Stank”?
MH: On the front it’ll say “Can You Smell It?” and on the back it’ll say “That’s Mah Stank”. Everybody’ll buy it because they’ll think it’s a Rock shirt.
CJ: You know…you might be on to something there, sad to say.
MH: I can’t wait to show mah stank to Trish.

You know, I have a feeling that Spanky didn’t quit, he was fired. Why? So they could repackage Mark Henry as “Stanky.” Think about THAT!

Not if there's a Smackdown tag title match that involves Haas & Benjamin, they should totally win and be rewarded for being better than everyone else, and also for honoring the West Texas Rednecks.

You see, it's funny that you mention that the HHH-Benoit match for Backlash is evidence of HHH retaining the belt. I say the opposite, as we know that Triple H will talk shit and demand a 1-on-1 rematch if he loses, and having Benoit defeat HBK with the Sharpshooter (drawing a pop from the NYC crowd), then giving Michaels time off to sell the knee, takes Trips out of the decision. This gives him the most ammunition for his rematch (although admittedly, it does give them an opportunity to recreate the screwjob in Edmonton). Still, I'd be more worried if the plan was to do HHH-Edge at Backlash...

There might be something wrong with Shawn's knee, but there's no way in hell he's got a torn ACL. Most people who tear their ACL need crutches, and Shawn's wrestling at top form without even a brace on his knee.

Thats not what all the reports have been. It's a torn ACL. Victoria's got the same injury, and she's been wrestling with it braced for like a year.

And hey, the new sites, especially 411, are never wrong. And I'm pretty sure that Victoria's been working off a torn MCL, not an ACL. Still a major accomplishment, but not quite the same.
