Hey I am just wondering do all the New England states like the Patriots or do they like the Giants or Jets?

Before the Pats came along the Giants were New England's favorite football team. They still have following today. I live in Maine and the local Fox station showed the Giants exhibition games last summer.

I'm personally a Giants fan, but Connecticut's odd. We're kind of supposed to like the Pats because they're close and winners, but we also must loathe them for Bob Kraft finger-fucking the state (Adriaen's Landing, etc.) and kicking us to the curb once he got Gilette Stadium out of MA.

I'm a Big Blue fan. Of course, until the mid 90's the Patriots had most of their home games blacked out, so you would get 14-15 Giants games broadcast in market while the Patriots would send in 9-10 due to league blackout rules.

I grew up in Massachusetts and I've always been a Pats fan. I find it interesting that when I go visit my folks in Maine the local papers have just about equal coverage of the Giants, with all the vacationing and relocated New Yorkers.

No, No, JayJay. The Giants were New England's team well before the Pats came along in 1960. I remember my dad having posters of Pat Summerall and Frank Gifford hanging in the basement (next to the cool light-up Shaefer Beer sign). I have always been a Giants fan and tolerate having the Patriots coverage here in Maine. So, I don't think it's just the transplants - the Giants were just here first!

I've been in CT for close to 4 years now and I sold out my Seattle Seahawks for the Patriots. I'd say that the main reason was that they had former Washington State QB Drew Bledsoe at the time and they were showing all their games here. I'd never root for the Jets and the Giants just never did it for me. A lot of people here hate the Pats because the state was used as a bargaining chip by Bob Kraft, but the blame should go to the crooked Govenor not so much the Patriots. I wasn't here when that went down though. I get shit from my boys back home for selling out my team and shit from people here for rooting for a team that screwed the state. It felt good to get the last laugh for once.

The Redskins used to play in Boston until the late 30's when they moved to Washington. Between then and when the Pats came with the AFL the Giants were the closest NFL team so there are a great nomber of Giants fans here. My dad was a Giants fan and they are my favorite foot ball team after the Pats.

The wierd thing is that while I was a kid growing up , the great majority of Giant fans were amongst the adults I knew. Kids I went to school with who weren't Pats fans were either Raiders fans or Cowboys fans. I remember one kid using as his reason for being a Raiders fan was that "their uniforms are so cool" and another kids reason for being a Cowboys fan was that "their cheerleaders are hot".

My best friend became a Cowboys fan for the ultimate reason: in order to be a contrarian to his Dolphins-fan Dad as well as the Dolphins fan rest-of-us. But to his credit, he didn't jump off the bandwagon in the late 80s only to get back on 5 years later.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I hear that Connecticut is kind of split in this sense. In other words, does the Western side of Connecticut consider themselves New York, while the rest is New England?

That's pretty much correct. Officially, CT is considered one of the New England states., West of Hartford, and especially in Fairfield county, people there are pretty much fans of the NY teams. They consider that the "Tri-State Area" which is NY, NJ, and CT.

Lague blackout rules are fun. That's why we were saddled with Redskins games for years and years and years and years.

I'd forgotten about the ACC/Big East realignments. That means he's got VaTech FIFTH at best in the ACC, behind Miami, FSU, Clemson, and Maryland.
