So are we going to wait for the Next Trish Stratus as we waited for the Next Shawn Michaels. I think Trish was just a unique person who career is really a great story of surprising over-achiever I don't think you can just dublicate that. I think the odds of being the Next Torrie Wilson or worse is much higher then coming in and being the Next Trish... The next influential woman star is not going to be a Trish clone, just like the stars after Shawn Michaels (Austin, Rock) was nothing like HBK.

If you look at the real influential women in the past we have Sable, Chyna, Lita and Trish. All were almost complete differences then their predecessors. All these women had rip-off versions but the rip-offs never really succeeded as the woman who was different. As Trish doesn't remind me of Lita, or Lita doesn't remind me of Chyna and Chyna doesn't remind me of Sable... So who's the "Next One" don't know, if I'ma gambler I'd put my Canadian dollar on Victoria who's got some great skills a powerful yet feminine quality that hasn't been seen, heck it could be someone who's not white like a Gail Kim or another Asian wrestler. But I'm guessing it's not going to be someone who reminds of as Trish. Because we already have her and she did a wonder job.

These signings seem Vince is more concerned about who's willing to go to PB then actually trying to get women that can add to his television show. You know Vince you do have a wrestling company and women has and can be used effectively as characters and I don't think anyone can just do it... He seems more concerned in being a breeding ground for PB magazine. There's a reason why the top women of Raw has a place on the show and can work effective angles with male workers and the top women of SD has one dimensional characters of cheap pops for skin and when you want to involve them up with a wrestler in a storyline it falls flat. I don't think it's coincidence I think it's overall talent.

Sigh...

How many times must this be said: The audience-at-large just doesn't give a shit about getting a self-supporting women's division up and running. They've got their select few stars (Lita, Trish), and then the rest are filler. Victoria's getting over okay as face, but hey, guess what? She's suddenly started wearing real revealing outfits. It's debatable over whether or not the majority of fans have ever given a shit about Molly, the company's best female wrestler. We're in the minority here, folks. It's something that we're never going to win and, in all honesty, we shouldn't be expecting WWE to cater to. The mark crowd would rather see a nice pair of tits than a fifteen-minute Jazz/Molly match. And I don't see why WWE should go out of their way to try and change what the fans want just because we say so. Do I like it? Not particularly, but I'm being pragmatic here.

Not to detract from the theoretical, but ... Did we ever sort out who these females actually are? Are they atheletes who happened to be willing to do Playboy, or are they Playboy models who have no particular athletic credentials? If indeed the one is a legitimate competitive kickboxer, that's not a bad indicator that she could concieveably be quite successful as a pro wrestling worker. In addition to being pre-qualified for the Playboy cross-over promotion. That'd be a total win-win for Vince, right?

My point is that I hate it when WWE pushes eye candy divas like Dawn, opposed to divas that actually wrestle. And no, I don't want Trish doing the gimmick matches or posing in Playboy, I respect her even more that she doesn't. What I do want is to see all the divas that CAN wrestle get more air time than they are now. Molly is one of my favorite diva's and it sucks that she won't ever be as over as the other divas, simply because she doesn't dress in skirts and lowcut blouces (I respect her the MOST for that!).
I don't watch wrestling to see a two minute cat fight between Sable/Torrie and Stacy/Jackie, I watch to see wrestling.

Maybe it's just because I'm a girl, but seeing Jackie flash her boobs in the middle of a relatively decent match just ruins it.

I know the fan base is huge compared to the smarks, and we'll be forever ignored by the people in WWE who matter, but it feels better to vent on it, and know there are others out there who agree. And hey, I can dream, can't I?

Well I don't think they push Dawn Marie over anybody except maybe Ultimo Dragon, but okay.

I just wish they'd sign someone who isn't white and blond. I mean, you've got Trish, you've Stacy, you've got Jackie, you've got Sable, you've got Torrie. Only one of them wrestles. Playboy usually just has white women but it does occasionally feature beauties of other races, and it certainly helps when people look diferent. If everyone looks the same, they're seen as the same.

To be somewhat fair, they did try Gail Kim, until she hurt herself.

Well, she's been getting something of a push as Heyman's Little Helper, and the little feud with Torrie over Al Wilson, plus some off and on striptease specials for the holidays. But she's not a wrestler, and she still gets TV time that could go to more deserving superstars. That applies to all of them- Dawn, Torrie, Sable, Stacy, and Jackie, where they're only on TV to get the male hormones to tune in every week in hopes of seeing boobs. I don't like it, but I do agree it's a brilliant marketing scheme. Sex sells.

To add to the fairness, IIRC the last four non-Tough Enough New faces(ie not Sable return) to come in the WWE were Rue, Gail, Victoria and Jazz. And if you want to include Tough Enough winners Linda Miles and Nidia came in along with Gayda... WWE seems to be getting better in adding more diverse group of women on it's roster.

They had a deal with Karen McDougal, but just for XFL related stuff. She was in the early cheerleader ads before the games started. They totally should have used her on the wrestling end somehow. When Vince's career is recapped, that will surely echo as one of his biggest mistakes. Cause she's hot!

Gross? Surely she isn't the most perfect looking female on the WWE roster, but there's no way in hell any heterosexual male could call her gross. Damn you must have hiiiigh standards!

It doesn't matter what Bobbi looks like now. If she "wrestles" as well as she did as Summer, than trust me nobody wants to see Miss Billard in the ring.

I preferred Sandy anyways.

Uh, can you tell me why non-tough enough new faces and not sable is your criteria? Let's just take them all together, your point still works. Although Rue is not really, you know, on the shows that count. But the women you listed all represent different groups, there are not five that look the same like we have with Trish/Sable/Torrie/Stacy/Jackie. I'm not saying "fire the whites" I'm just saying, you know, make someone dye her hair or something. Just don't bring in 5 more people that fit the same mould. But points taken, guys, and well played.

As far as i heard on the internet grape-vine, WWE were going to sign Nikita. She has skills and beauty.
i agree with one of the earlier posts about the rip-offs, and one person not being the next chyna etc.
i think that given the training these eye-candy new faces WWE are bringing in could perform well enough in the ring.
Take Shaniqua for example, she has the build and the look to be a great high-level wrestler if she trained harder, as i've heard off of some wrestling news sites that she has been sent back to OVW, and the management have a problem with her attiude to work and her overall work ethic.
i believe that womens matches should have equal billing to male matches because quite a few of the womens matches i have seen, show excellent technical ability, and an extensive range of technical manuvers, i.e. the matches between victoria, trish, and jazz.
all we need are physically fit enough women whom can be given training focusing on the technical side of wrestling instead of the cat fighting we see from sable etc, and we could produce some card-topping, show stealing matches.
personally i think Nikita, or given some focus, Nidia could be our best shost at believable, technical matches, throw then throw them in the ring with Trish etc, and you've got a formula for sucess.
one of these days we'll see a womens match overshadow the best male matches at ppv's, and for the right reasons too.
the closest i've seen to this was the triple threat hardcore womens match at a ppv i forget the name of right now.
Just my opinions. no offence to enyone elses views intended.

Last I heard they want Linda to go to OVW to pick up some more in-ring skills so that they can move her to RAW.

That Bobbi Billard site is impossible to read.

What, exactly, are your qualifications for "The Next Trish Stratus"? Victoria came in with a similar resume and she's already passed Trish in in-ring skills (in my opinion). So is it just model-turned-worker? Or what? People who can work and the crowd thinks is hot? I don't think what Trish did is anything special. Sure most of the girls wouldn't do it, but the combination of good looks and fairly good worker is not really exclusive to Trish. I mean, in that sense, the WWE is doing the right thing because you can't really train a girl to look good but you can train them to wrestle.

Okay I'll answer first, didn't put Sable because I was focusing on new signees getting their first opportunity. If you want to add Sable that's fine, then it's 4 out of 5 being non-Blonde being signed in the company. 80% a pretty high number. Heck I could have added Dawn to even out Sable inclusion of "Already established girls getting signed"... Didn't add Tough Enough because I figured the show to be kind of gimmickry but if you want to add it you can and like I said before out of the 3 girls from TE only one would fit in that blonde category. So adding all these girls together it would mean under 25% would fit into the blonde stereotype WWE still gets for only hiring.

Now I have to ask, Stacy and Gayda look similar to you? There as different as can be. Trish and Torrie sure they both are busty blondes but for me that's where the similarities end, from facially, height, body type, I look at them as very different. I'm not even talking about little things like body language and presentation... Why doesn't brunettes get lumped into category yet they all are considered unique even if Victoria, Ivory, Dawn and Stephanie are all busty but the difference is they have dark hair. I certainly have to take a double take to make sure Ivory isn't Victoria more so then I have to do it for Stacy/Gayda or Trish/Torrie. Sometimes I wonder if people get blinded by haircolor and then just automaticallly say oh well there all one in the same.

Wait a second, I am in no way saying Trish is the only attractive worker. I think Victoria is beautiful in my eyes, but she probably has more of a niche look. Would she be able to get a WWE gig solely on her looks, I don't really know. But Trish could have easily gone with just "being pretty" and live pretty well on the royalties of her posters/pictures alone without the worrying of bumps and bruises... I kinda view Victoria more of an improved offshoot (but NOT a rip off) of Chyna. She's this very powerful looking woman, but still feminine plus a much better worker. Do I view her as the "Next Trish"? No Way, and she shouldn't be. That's why I think she's got a good chance of being successful because you don't' think of Trish Version 2 when looking at Victoria. She brings her own qualities to the table even though her background is somewhat similar.
