Does this mean Pete Rose will now start putting H.O.F. on his autographs and raise his signing price now that he is a Hall of Famer?

Latest sign RSN's mind might be fading: The new plan is to vote for Jerry Remy's Wally the Beanbag Buddy as the Democratic Primary for President.

I think he deserves this more than, say, Johnny Rodz (who was inducted several years ago).

Nice little publicity stunt. I like it.

Here's the offical WWE press release with the other inductees ... good ol' JYD ...

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--03/02/2004--

Jesse Ventura, Sgt. Slaughter, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and Superstar Billy Graham among 10 WWE Superstar Legends to be Inducted on March 13, the Eve of WrestleMania(R) XX

Baseball great Pete Rose will be the first-ever special celebrity inductee into the WWE(R) Hall of Fame for his classic appearances at WrestleMania XIV, WrestleMania XV, and WrestleMania 2000. WWE Superstars to be inducted as the newest members of the WWE Hall of Fame are former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, Sgt. Slaughter, Superstar Billy Graham, Tito Santana, Don Muraco, Harley Race, Junkyard Dog and Big John Studd.

The new members will be inducted during the sold-out WWE Hall of Fame dinner at the New York Hilton on Saturday, March 13. The Hall of Fame ceremony is a highlight of the weekend festivities which culminate on Sunday, March 14, 2004, when WWE will present WrestleMania XX to a sold-out Madison Square Garden filled with fans from 16 countries, 48 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Fans from more than 90 countries will also have the opportunity to watch the event. WWE has predicted that WrestleMania XX will be one of the most momentous events in Pay-Per-View history.

"We are privileged to have 10 Superstars who are truly deserving to be called WWE Hall of Famers," said WWE Chairman Vince McMahon(TM). "Pete Rose is our first-ever celebrity inductee for the classic moments he has provided in WrestleMania matches with WWE Superstar Kane(R). Only a champion like Pete Rose would get into a wrestling ring with a 300-pound monster like Kane, and then have the tenacity and determination to do it again. One day Pete Rose will take his rightful place in the Baseball Hall of Fame, but on March 13, Pete will officially become a member of the WWE Hall of Fame."

WWE Superstars previously inducted into the Hall of Fame include Andre the Giant, "Classy" Freddie Blassie, George "The Animal" Steele, Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, Captain Lou Albano, The Fabulous Moolah, Bobo Brazil, James Dudley, "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers, "Golden Boy" Arnold Skaaland, Gorilla Monsoon, Chief Jay Strongbow, The Grand Wizard, Pedro Morales, Ivan Putski, "Big Cat" Ernie Ladd, Antonino Rocca, "Baron" Mikel Scicluna, Pat Patterson, Johnny Rodz, Vincent J. McMahon, Walter "Killer" Kowalski, and The Valiant Brothers (Handsome Jimmy & Luscious Johnny).

Pete's appearances have been some of the greatest moments in WWE over the past few years when it comes to comedy. Plus he's a "legit" sports star who is big in the news again. I can't blame them on this one.

It would be good if the award was a second-tier type of thing, however. Save the big HOF honor for the wrestlers, and give people like Rose a "civilian" award for their contributions.

"the newest members of the WWE Hall of Fame are former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, Sgt. Slaughter, Superstar Billy Graham, Tito Santana, Don Muraco, Harley Race, Junkyard Dog and Big John Studd"

That's quite a HOF class. It's good to see Valentine and Santana in there, as they were 2 of the better workers for the WWF in the early 80's. I used to love Valentine's version of the Flair Flop. It wasn't a Valentine match until one of the announcers said "the longer the match goes, the better Valentine gets".

I think if they added Santana v. Valentine to the WM XX card, I wouldn't be disappointed. I bet these two could still work a decent little match.

The real shock is that its not the Undertaker that has been messing with Kane. At WMania it will be revealed to be Pete Rose! You heard it here first!

I'd rank Pete's "HOF" induction up there with the "eStragand Hall of Fame". What? YOU didn't know that Simon Fletcher, Bubby Brister, Andy Van Slyke and Dante Bichete were Hall of Famers?!

I thought he called it the Flying Jalepeno.

I think that was Tito Santana's flying forearm (the one that Michaels and Jericho do).

I know Manny Fernandez used a similar move with a similar name. I think Fernandez used the "Flying burrito" and Santana's move was jokingly called "Flying jalapeno" by Heenan...but I could be wrong.

The list is inoffensive. I was pleased to see Tito Santana was listed, but upset that Ted DiBiase wasn't. It's interesting that Harley Race and Junkyard Dog made the list when as far as WWE-oriented history is concerned they are little more than footnotes in their time in the promotion, so it seems that WWE is assuming the responsibilty of being the general North American Hall Of Fame - of course I don't expect this to mean the likes of Dusty Rhodes, Larry Zbyszko or Bruno Sammartino (although, in this case, through no real fault of the WWE) will be inducted any time soon.

If you could choose ten wrestlers not yet inducted for a 2005 or 2006 induction, which would they be? My choices:

- Curt Hennig
- Rick Rude
- Ted DiBiase
- Hulk Hogan
- Ric Flair
- Randy Savage
- Bob Backlund
- Ricky Steamboat
- Roddy Piper
- The Undertaker (if he had retired at this point)

Looking at it, it's probably too 1980s biased other than Bob Backlund. I would have added Owen and Davey Boy but I think four dead guys in a list of ten would put a damper on the night
