Over the past few months, the best heel on RAW (consistently) IMO has been Christian. He has always been a good spoiled brat heel, but now he is getting into full dick heel. The storyline with Trish has done as much to get Christian over as a legitimate heel as it has to get Jericho as a legit face. My question is, will they (McMahon and HHH) let Christian into the ME picture and also, do you think he deserves to be there? And no arguments about height and the such. With Guerrero as champ and Benoit and Angle knocking on the door, height is not really an issue with the WWE right now.

I think Christian would make a really good, but not great, champ. He would be a good transition champ from one face (Benoit) to another (Jericho). He would be the type of champ that the pay off when he loses would be great because the crowd literally hates this guy, and in a good way, not in a Bob Holly/X-Pac way. Maybe a two month reign where he cheats his ways to wins and tries to run from face contender, only to be finally caught and beaten at the PPV event.

Thoughts?

I can see Christian as champ way down the line. Here's a bit of *gasp* fantasy booking.

Mania: Tripps pins HBK to retain title
Backlash: Benoit beats HHH to win title
Bad Blood: Benoit beats HHH to retain title
SummerSlam: Jericho wins 4-man (Benoit, HHH, Jericho, Christian) match to win title
Unforgiven: Jericho beats Benoit to retain title
Survivor Series: Christian beats Jericho to win title
Armageddon: Christian beats Edge to retain title
Royal Rumble: Jericho beats Christian to win title, Edge wins Royal Rumble

Hey, I like Christian, but as the champ? I can't see that. They'd have to really build him up before doing that, because the fans see him as a career midcarder. Throwing him into the ME scene would throw a lot of people off, IMO.

Look at guys like Bradshaw & Holly - career midcarders, whom the fans dug in those role. But push them into the ME scene, and the crowd quickly loses interest.

Yeah, Christian is more talented than those 2, but he'd have to be extermely protected in order to make the transition, something I can't see the WWE doing, what with HHH at the top of the card, Kane an upper level heel, and Randy Orton's "please care about this guy" push.

Oh God more Fantasy Booking ahead:

I like Christian but I think he should stay in the "IC Title" area a little bit longer, just to try to fully get himself ready for a ME push.

I would have Orton lose the IC Title to Y2J in a match on RAW, I mean the IC Title is useless in a Orton vs Foley match at WMXX so why not give it a match at WMXX. Now that Y2J has the IC Title it will give Christian more reason to go after him since he can claim he is still upset about losing his IC Title to RVD a while ago.

Then set up Christian vs Y2J(c)w/Trish for the IC Title at WMXX and have Trish turn on Jericho to allow Christian to not only win the IC Title but take Trish away from Jericho. That could stretch out the Christian vs Jericho feud for another PPV or two.

I hate to sound so agreeable but I agree with you guys. I'd make this Christian/Jericho storyline go on for a while with a Trish turn somewhere in the middle until Jericho finally comes out with the upper hand.

After that I'd like to see Christian get a long ass IC title reign Honky Tonk Man style. After a few more years of being in the IC / Tag ranks, I do think he will hold the world title and not just in a transitional way.

Goody...I get to be contrarian...

Christian doesn't need the Intercontinental Championship. In its current state, it is simply emblematic of midcarder status. No, what Christian needs is to mingle with main eventers, and to hold his own in those confrontations. How, do you ask? Three steps: (1) Have him win at Wrestlemania, (2) give him a turned Trish as a manager, and (3) give him an interview show, a la the Hi-Light Reel.

Before I get flamed for the illogical booking, imagine a heel Trish saying that she respects Christian because unlike each and every other guy in her life, he sees her as a wrestler first, a woman second. When in the ring, he put aside his attraction to her to compete with her on equal footing, and although she was decimated, she realized that it was a hell of a lot more empowering to be beaten by a man in the ring than be handled with kid gloves, like Jericho did.

So empowered with a hot chick as his second, the Trish & Christian team could together experience success, Trish in the Women's Division, and Christian in solo matches. Continuing the issue between himself and Jericho would lead to him usurping the Interview segment, thus allowing him to match promos with the likes of Austin, Rock, and HBK, namely the topcard guys.

Ideally, what I'd like to see is the Jericho-Christian feud to run hot and cold for a year, with the two as archnemeses until Wrestlemania 21. They could compete for airtime, title shots, and at some point, the World Title. Ultimately, the two should have a loser leaves RAW match at Wrestlemania 21, leading to Christian going to Smackdown.

Man, I don't usually agree with the Spiff-ster, but he is absolutely correct here. Christian is midcard through and through, right or wrong. It would take a heck of a lot for the majority to see him as anything but that. I wouldn't be opposed, like the others have said, to an IC run like HTM though.

The last few weeks have proven one thing to me, Christian is a great ACTOR. Of course he is a decent wrestler, but his workrate is not something that screams ME talent. He is merely above average in ring work. I would love to see Christian as a commentator. He has the quick thinking and charisma to shine as a tweener commentator, and he can get a story across really well.

I don´t see Christian as the world champion in a long time!

I also don´t want Jericho to loose (once) again at Mania!
He´s a former world champ, the first ever undisputed one, and has lost to Michaels last year and to Triple H the year before!

Jericho has to win!

Also he has to finally nail Trish in a hotel room in new york city on wm-sunday!

That man deserves it all! And now!

And Christian´s time will come another day. Someday. At Backlash. Or later. Maybe...

Great idea, but not yet. Christian as a commentator should come, but only after another few years. If the WWE can still make money with him as a wrestler, let him do that for a while before offering him a commentating position.
Christian is by far the most consistently good actor in the WWE, his facial expressions and voice inflections are hilarious and intense. He is at his best in a tag team (with Edge of course), and I cant really see him ever becoming a breakout ME star.
Imagine a face Tazz and heel Christian commentating team... THEY could be doing matches instead of JR and King.

I like Christian and everything, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is the biggest singles feud he ever sees. As long as he is connected with Jericho or Edge he will always have a spot, but I don't know if he will ever be this high on the card again.

I so do NOT want to see a Trish turn at or soon after Mania. If they want to turn her after another six months with Jericho or whatever, then fine, but throwing it out there now would just make absolutely no sense whatsoever. This has been one of the best thought-out angles in recent memory, and bolting a needless and nonsensical hel turn onto the end just for kicks would throw it totally out of whack.

Renegade Raine says:

I like Christian...no, scratch that, I LOVE (in a platonic sort of way, of course) Christian. Hell, he's been my second favorite wrestler since he turned heel in the Invasion angle. Anyways, I can't see him as a champion. I can see him maybe going into pay-per-views competing for the big belt in the future, but not winning it. I do think he could make a good, cocky heel champion though.

I don't know why people have this idea that Christian should ever hit the main event. Some superstars have that "it" factor or that mystique that screams "main event"! Christian is not one of them.

There's such a thing as a JTTS for life. There's no shame in being one. Arn Anderson never hit the main event and we all have fond memories of him. He had the talent, but he didn't NEED to be in the main event. The same goes for guys like Jake Roberts, Tito Santana, Jimmy Snuka, and Sean Waltman. The same SHOULD have gone for Jeff Jarrett. They either looked like eternal midcarders or lackeys and were thus cast as such. Christian also fits in this mold.

I'm sorry, but he just has that look that says "lackey", not "main eventer".

Edge: So Triple H wants me to come to Raw and fight him for the big gold belt. I've TOTALLY passed you on the card.
Jericho: Yeah, but while Triple H is burying you, I get to make out with Trish in front of millions. You tell ME who the winner is here, junior!

I'd love to see what you guys think is so great about Christian. I like him as a talker, to be certain, but once the bell goes he's got nothing. I mean, his offense; as I'm sure we've said months back in similar threads, is sorely lacking. He's got the unprettier but very few hard-hitting moves that people by into. And he just lacks that special something, which I believe WWE gave him a solid chance to display when they gave him that solid run as IC Champ. I would think the Arn Anderson comparison is a stretch, too, because Arn could go in a way Christian has never shown the ability to be able to.

I wouldn't fire him, don't get me wrong. I'd try to keep him in a decent position, with a good storyline at all times because his acting keeps his stuff watchable. But I wouldn't have any designs on putting gold on Christian, and I damn sure wouldn't expect to see him win a world championship.

Trip out of the Disputed World Title picture for close to 9 months? Not unless there is a divorce.
As for Christian, he is a nice mid-card wrestler. However, he is not a main eventer, at least not now. And, he is definately not at Jake Roberts or Arn Anderson's (in there prime's) level either on the mic or in the ring. He's more along the lines of the Bizarro World Brad Armstrong.

Well, Canadian Blonde #2 is now a heel. I like it a lot better than the tweener, cause tweener characters are annoying. As for the future, they have GOT to put him over Jericho at WM20. Jericho doesn't have much to lose, as he has said in the past, he's "one win away from the main event." Christian, however, needs this. He needs credibility and/or heat. The best way to achieve both would be to give the guys a good 16-17 minutes and have Christian win cheaply, but not because of some JeriTrish2004 mishap. As for Trish turning, I don't see that happening given the current storyline...unless she really enjoyed the Walls de Christian in some strange, masochist way...sounded like it, anyway. But a Trish turn makes no sense, plus ChrisTrish2004 doesn't sound as cool as JeriTrish2004. Enough of me. Peace.

This is crap.

You guys are on here spouting off psuedo reasons why Christian could never main event. Reasons that are all cop outs. You're spouting the company line. You bitch and bitch and bitch about how untalented big guys fill up the main event and then when you get a diamond in the rough, you start spouting how he doesn't have "it" and giving three thousand illegitmate and unbacked up reasons why it would never work.

So Christian doesn't have "it"? You know who else didn't have it? Three letters, they're all the same. When he first won the belt the IWC and regular fans a like crapped all over it. By 2000, the IWC was crapping themselves whenever he was in a match talking about the awesome star rating this match was supposed to have just because HHH was in it.

You know who else doesn't have "it"? Big Show. How many times has he worn the belt?

As much as I hate o say this because he is one of my favorites of all time -- Bret Hart didn't have it. He was the Chris Benoit of 1993. Like HHH after him, he developed it.

Guess who else doesn't have "it"? You're going to hate me for this one. Chris Benoit. Yeah, I like to watch the guy wrestle, sure he's one of the best in the world but he doesn't have the intangible that screams World Champion no matter how many times you guys masterbate to his matches. Neither does Eddie Guerrerro. He's the first stereotype (that I can think of anyways) to win a World Championship. What's the difference between his character now and when he was Latino Heat? Hell, what's the difference between his character and Los Boricquas for that matter?

Not that these guys will suck as champions. I love the fact that Eddie's the champ and I will root my ass off for Benoit at WM 20. I'm just saying you don't have to have "it" to be the World Champ.

As for moveset, Christian's is just as good as anyone else's. You guys are way off. If a "hardhitting" moveset were a prerequisite to the World Title, Hardcore Holly would be the WWE Champion right now. What's so hardhitting about Chris Jericho's moveset? The Lionsault? Give me a break, my head hits my pillow harder at night. Just because Christian doesn't spear everyone like 75% of the roster doesn't mean his moveset is soft. I defer you to any match between 99 and 2001 when he actually had, you know motivation to do well in the ring. Specifically, I refer you to his Ladder, TLC matches and IC series with Edge. And don't give me "he needs gimmicks" crap. No one faults or doubts Mick Foley for this, so on the level of fairplay I don't think that's a valid argument as those weren't the only good matches Christian was in in this time period, it's just those are the most memorable.

And for whoever it was who said his ringwork wasn't the caliber of Jack Roberts --- have you ever seen a Jake Roberts match? I'll sum everyone of them up for you. Punch, punch, punch, punch. Jake gets beat up. Punch, punch, punch. Jake gets beat up. Punch, punch, short arm clothesline, DDT, Snake. There, now you have watched every single Jake Roberts match ever. You honestly feel Christian's ringwork isn't up to that level? Give me reasons as to why Edge's ringwork (or anyones for that matter) is better than Christian.

You guys are right when you say Christian doesn't have that intangible that Steve Austin, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley, Sting, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage and Undertaker all had. But as I have said, you don't have to have that -- that's something that you can grow into.

Just saying Christian isn't main event level because he doesn't have "it" or because he's not as good in the ring as he is on the mic isn't enough. That's a cop out. You have a forum here, explain why.

Let me put it to you this way, do you want a guy as the World Champ who's gold on the mic, above average in Charisma, above average in the ring (which has been posted in this thread by other posters) or a guy who is great in the ring, below average on the mic and below average in charisma (though he is improving).

Should Christian be at the main event level at this time? Probably not.

Warning: fantasy booking.

You know what would really push Jericho through the roof as a face?

He finally gets the girl for a while, gets to enjoy his happiness, then Eric Bischoff screws him over once again by trading him to Smackdown away from his beloved Trish. We are saved from watching their relationship devolve into a sentimental, sappy thing that gets annoying unless someone turns. We get the mini-nods to continuity that internet geeks love as plot points are advanced through quick backstage phone calls. We have potential drama, as Jericho may have to win matches to guarantee a spot on the card at dual-brand PPVs so that he can see Trish. We get a hero who fans can't help but get behind because he's been cock-blocked by Eric Bischoff. And we get Jericho in a new setting that frees him of certain baggage related to the Raw roster and gives us fresh top of the card match-ups on Smackdown.
