Too many tag matches in my opinion. Reminds me of wm 2000 and thats not a good thing...its a bad thing! But then again: At least RVD seems to get a spot, unlike last year, so I wonīt complain any longer about having to see the Dudz, APA and Steiner one more time.
The rest of the card sounds good to me, but thats no suprise, cause everybody here knew about the matches since weeks now.
....Do you think Ultimo Dragon wonīt even make it to the cruiser battle royal?
I think that sounds like a pretty damn good card. Is that crusier battle and Cahvo defense really confirmed now? That should be really cool (kinda reminds me of when WCW did that).
The card doesn't remind of WM 2000 at all. I count five singles matches right there (six if the women's title is a singles match). That's *way* better than 2000's only singles match being some thong match or something. Not saying that WM 2000 was bad, 'cause it was still a good show, just a lack of single matches. It may not be the dream card that everyone was hoping for WMXX, but I'll take this card no problem. I don't even mind the triple threat since the WWE Title, which I care more about anyhow, will be in what should be an awesome singles match. I'll be a happy camper come March 14. It really sounds like they are trying to fit as many people on the card as possible, which is nice.
Oh, and speaking of the triple threat- you know what confused me on Monday? When HHH was explaining why he is no longer scared of the match why didn't he point out that he beat *three* other people at WM 2000 to retain the title? Would made sense. Oh well.

I like the suggestion on PWInsider today (think it was Woodward) who said that Terry Funk should join Foley and The Rock, make it a six-man affair. Not sure that's actually the plan, but its not inconceivable or anything. The Funker is the one guy I know of who left for WCW a few years ago on GOOD terms with the company...

I personally can't stand Terry Funk anymore. He was OK back in the day, but he shouldn't be actively wrestling nowadays. Same deal with Flair, though I could still have him going at it once a month of something. Older wrestlers need to have a non-wrestling but still physical role, much like what Austin is doing now.

No, I donīt have a problem with the card or something. Actually I canīt wait for Mania!
I just felt that 4 tag matches are too much and ONLY THAT reminded me of wm 2000!

Generally speaking, I'd tend to agree with you about older workers. But Ric Flair? Come on, the guy can perform better than 80 percent of the active roster (of both SmackDown and Raw, I mean), he still gets a great reaction, and judging by his match with Benoit a couple of weeks ago, can still rise to the occasion for big matches. Flair is one the elements of Raw that's almost a sure thing. Why mess with it?
As for Funk, all he'd really have to do is maybe five minutes of in-ring work (no WAY either The Rock or Foley would give too much time away their first match back in a while) and maybe a crazy bump or two. Surely, Funk could pull that off....

Flair is a good worker, yes. But most fans don't want tos ee an old guy in the ring. Every person I watch WWE with (all just your average marks, been watching WWE for a few years and thats it) thinks that Flair should stay out of the ring. They say it is embarassing to watch him, because he just looks so cheesy and old school in the ring. The common consensus is that in a non wrestling role, Flair would be brilliant. Imagine a Flair promo on ever RAW (which are still just as good as they used to be) instead of a Flair matchup.
As fans of the genre for years upon years, we are all biased towards Flair, but newer or just more casual fans don't give a crap if he's the best wrestler ever. They want what is new and cool and badass, and Flair in the ring is not it.
I personally want Flair to turn on Evolution, and aligning with Jericho until he has one last high profile match (against whom, I am not sure) and then retire. Raw could even do an enitre Ric Flair tribute show or something. The man deserves the utmost respect, but the way to show it isn't by having him wrestle matches every week. There are other more universally entertaining options to consider.
I don't mind all the tag matches. I like the fact they are trying to get everyone in on this huge payday. Plus, that looks like a WM card. Meaning everyone gets a moment in the spotlight. Plus, I see minimal chance for McMahaon involvement.
January 4th 1999 - The day WCW injected itself with 10 gallons of Liquid Anthrax...AKA...The day Hogan "Defeated" Nash to win the WCW title in front of 40,000.
I also think that is way too many tag matches on the show. None of them sound very appealing either. It's almost surreal how Scott Steiner has been the biggest failure since coming to WWE. No one cares about him, and to think he was the hottest free agent out there, and at one point was headlining PPV's in WCW on a regular basis. I seem to also recall Russo believing Steiner vs Goldberg was the fued that would win the ratings war for WCW again.

I didn't know there were new fans watching anymore... isn't that kind of the problem, financially, right now?
I'm not doubting what you're saying about your friends, but personally, I don't know a single wrestling fan, young or otherwise -- anyone who actually enjoys someone who can tell a story in the ring and can cut a meaningful promo -- say that they would enjoy the product more without Ric Flair on the show.
Last I heard, Bret Hart had vehemently denied having to do anything with the WWE, and has not changed his view. Vince wanted him to make an appearance at WM, and then get involved in a short storyline with Benoit, leading to the proposed Backlash title match (conveniently in Canada), but seems like Bret will have nothing to do with it, which is good for him, because I'm sure Vince will find some new way of screwing him over. With that said, however, if that riff plays at WM20 I'll be the first one marking out and jumping all over everywhere. After all, it is Bret Hart, the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. Notice, no quotes. Peace.

Right you are.
However, the poll Bret has on his website seems to suggest that SOMETHING might be happening. If he was ruling it out alltogether, there'd be no need for a poll, right?

Wait, wait, wait...why does Lita get the title shot and not Molly? I thought with Molly going all psycho on Raw, that it could build a nice little Molly/Vicky feud which would lead to an AWESOME Wrestlemania match. I mean, what's the deal with two faces in the match? Yes, I can see a hint of a Lita turn. But if they wanted to put Lita in the match, I think it would have better to keep Molly in the match and have her as the heel. Have Lita get the tweener turn similar to Jeff Hardy's when he had that loser streak going on and have Vicky as the face.
Eh, just my opinion anyways.

Some randomness after reading through this thread...
Ugggh...Victoria vs. Lita? I'd rather see Victoria against just about any woman on the roster than Lita. Lita goes in and blows every spot in her match on Raw and THAT earns her a match at Mania? Bullshit!
I don't mind all the tag team matches as long as they make sense. The problem with the WM 2000 show wasn't that there were so many tags, but that the matches themselves didn't make any sense (well, and they had shitty guys in them). Godfather/D-Lo vs. Bossman/Bull? WTF? It was clear they got down to about a week before Mania and realized they needed to fill some time, because the bottom half of that card was pure trash. You can have three or four tag matches on the show if they all make sense and have a storyline going into them. Besides, the show is five hours long, it's not like it's all going to be tag teams.
I'm more concerned with the fact that there are so many three and four way matches supposedly in the cards. Those matches rarely hold up quality wise and really come off as slapped together to get guys on the show rather than being the culmination of a storyline.
Terry Funk? Good lord! Enough people have been complaining about how throwing Batista into the mix was watering down the Orton/Foley storyline...at least he's a current guy getting a push. I respect Funk, but he would be a huge drag on that match which absolutely positively should be Foley (w/Rock) vs. Orton (w/Flair) in a street fight one on one.
If Bret shows up at WrestleMania, you can bet they'll keep it a secret until the last minute. If they were able to keep Piper under raps last year, they'll keep Bret quiet this late in the game and let him be the surprise.
Some random ideas that have popped into my mind about WM...call it fantasy booking if you will...:
*Bobby Heenan is being inducted into the HoF...he should be in a corner on WM Sunday. Christian? Angle?
*Jesse Ventura, also going into the HoF, should be on guest commentary during the Lesnar/Goldberg match...he could back the heel as always, but since Lesnar came through Minnesota it'd be consisted politically.
*Bret Hart in Teddy's corner during the CW battle royal? I know, I know...a surprise or two in this match would be nice, though.
*Pete Rose ambushes Undertaker, gives Kane the win.
*Finally, whatever happens, the show will leave an empty feeling if that one defining moment never happens. I don't care what it is, but there needs to be that one highlight that gets replayed over and over that makes the show stand out...kinda like Hogan slamming Andre, or Michaels splashing Razor off the ladder...something to make the show memorable aside from just having good matches or a decent build.
I'm curious to see if the RAW cruisers will jump in on the CW Open. It'd be one way to get Hurricane and Spike into the division where they better fit.
The card does have a WM2000 vibe brewing. But who gives a f%ck! All of the other matches could be battle royals for all i care. Eddie vs Angle will do just fine. !

I think those ideas would all be cool, but the problem is that if any of them happen, not one person in the arena or at home will be paying attention to the guys in the ring. Feuds that have been built up for months would be ignored because of the special attraction added at the last minute. If they want to do something with those guys, it should be a special moment, then get them the hell out of there so that it doesn't become a three ring circus.
Your thoughts on the Lita/Victoria match mirror mine word for word, so I didn't bother quoting that part. I would much rather see a "rematch" where Molly tries to get her women's title back. With a face/face match, Victoria could end up getting booed and end up killing her face turn. No way that anyone's gonig to cheer Molly, so give Victoria a huge setting for her first defense against the top women's heel and cement her status as a top women's face.
