Huge pop for Rey...Kidman was doing a giant swing on Nunzio & Rey dropkicked Nunzio in the head....A Noble sucks chant started...Rey did a twisting huracanrana onto Noble...Kidman did an FU into a backbreaker on Noble...Noble dove through the 2nd rope onto Kidman on the floor, then Rey dove off the top rope onto Noble...Kidman went for the 450 splash but Nunzio pulled him off the top rope...Nunzio did what i can only describe as a tilt-a-whirl arm breaker on Kidman...Kidman hit a nice dropkick on Noble, you could hear the smack throughout the arena...Rey did a 2nd rope moonsault into a reverse D.D.T. onto Noble...Rey went for the west coast pop, but Noble caught him & turned it into a tigerbomb for a near fall...Noble was on the top rope, Kidman alley ooped Rey onto Noble, Rey huracanrana'd him off the top & scored the pin.

Shannon Moore vs. Rhyno

Shannon hit a spin kick on Rhyno for a near fall...Rhyno chant broke out...Rhyno used a bodybreaker with Moore over his shoulder...Rhyno hit a spinning spinebuster & a Gore for the win

Sakoda vs. Paul London

London now uses Spanky's music...London had Sakoda in a headlock, used his feet to bounce off the top rope over Sakoda & kicks him in the butt...crowd really didn't give this much of a chance...London hit a nice dropkick, in doing it he flipped all the way over & landed on his stomach...London went for the 450 & missed...Sakoda spinebustered him for the win

They begin setting up for Smackdown. Huge Eddy chant during the setup.

Rue comes out & sings America the Beautiful.

No Way Out highlights are shown of Eddy winning. Again huge cheer for Eddy.

Paul Heyman on the big screen. Knowing of Brock Lesnar's short temper, he' s recommended Brock take the night off, in the interest of public safety. Tonight the Eddy Guerrero celebration continues as he makes his first title defense against his nephew. There will be a special guest referee which he does not name.

Smackdown Open

Kurt Angle comes to the ring. Tonight is Eddy's night to celebrate & he wants to be the first to congratulate him. He knew Eddy could win. He's looking forward to Wrestlemania. He leads the crowd in 3 cheers for Eddy. Hip Hip Hooray, & the crowd does it.

John Cena comes out. Cena makes fun of Angle & leads the crowd in chanting Latino Heat. Cena gives props to Angle for winning the 3 way, but says from the sound of it Eddy is going to kick his ass at W.M. Angle wants to kick Cena's M.C. Hammer ass right now. Cena says that's cool because like M.C. Hammer U Can't touch this. Heyman appears on the big screen. He says he makes the matches not them. Heyman wants to see them work as a team tonight against the Bashams.

John Cena/Kurt Angle vs. Basham Brothers

Cena pumps up but is cut off by Danny...Danny whips Angle into Cena, knocking Cena from he ring...Cena & Angle have words & are jumped by the Brothers...The Brothers work over Cena's bad knee...Angle tags in...Angle goes for an Angle slam on Doug but Doug rolls off & pushes Angle into a clothesline from Danny...Angle Angle slams Danny & applies the ankle lock...Danny rolls over & kicks him off to the floor...He goes by Cena who tags him, FU's Danny & scores the pin. Cena & Angle have more words.

Heyman & Dawn Marie are backstage...Dawn is wearing a really, really, Really, nice dress...Rey Mysterio wants to talk to Paul...Paul says he knows what he wants to say, how the cruiserweight title meant everything to him, & how he wants to complain about how it was stolen...Rey says no, he doesn't want to complain, he wants to ask for a rematch...Paul respects that, wishes more of his roster was like that. Rey has his rematch next week & if Chavo wins the W.W.E. title tonight, it will be a double title match next week, but since Rey has a vested interest in the main event Rey has to take the rest of the night off. Segment ends with Paul telling Rey..Trust Me A.P.A. & Rikishi & Scotty are in the A.P.A. office, Hey where's the door, drinking beer, playing cards & looking at the Sable/Torrie Playboy. A.P.A. asks for a title shot. Scotty says they don't make the matches but they have no problem with that. World's Greatest Tag Team come in. They say if anyone is taking on Fat Man & Robin it's them, after all they beat the A.P.A. at No Way Out. A.P.A. beat up W.G.T.T. & throw them out of the office. Segment ends with A.P.A. & Rikishi & Scotty staring each other down.

Billy Gunn vs. Tajiri w/Akio & Sakoda

Tajiri hits a dragon screw leg whip on Gunn, sending him to the floor where he is double teamed by Akio & Sakoda...Gunn hit a twisting sidewalk slam for a near fall...Gunn ducked the kick of death and hit the one & only, went for the fameasser, Tajiri ducked & kicked him in the knee...Akio distract Gunn, Tajiri hit the kick of death for the pin.

Eddy Guerrero Interview

Confetti comes from the roof. Eddy comes in through the crowd. Red, white & green balloons come from the ceiling, pyro goes off. It looked like it was snowing in the ring at one point & it was hard to see Eddy. It's really quite a sight. Giant Eddy chant. Eddy says his win was for everyone that was told they're not big enough. The win was for everyone that was told they weren't strong enough or smart enough or good looking enough. He thanks everyone that supported him through everything. For everyone that didn't support him, Eddy insults them in Spanish. The Chavo's come out. Loud Chavo sucks chant, followed by an Eddy chant Chavo says he scored the biggest win of his career but all the attention in on Eddy. Chavo wants to know where his celebration is. After Chavo wins tonight he says the party will be over. Chavo announces Chavo Sr. is the special guest ref.

Big Show vs. Hardcore Holly - U.S. Title Match

Holly charges the ring to attack Show...Holly chopblocks Shows knee...Holly hits a legdrop off the top rope for a 2 count...Holly misses a 2nd rope dropkick...Show Chokeslamms Holly for the win...Cena come out calls Show, Slim Pickens...Challenges Show for a title match at W.M. 20...dares Show to turn him down...Show says he is the most dominant U.S. Champ in history & accepts...

Highlight of Torrie/Sable promoting their Playboy......Highlight of the Kane stuff form RAW

Dos Chavos Intv.

Chavo says he will win & have a bigger celebration then Eddy had next week. He tell his father that even though Eddy is his brother he needs him to call it right down the middle. Sr. says he won't let him down. Josh is backstage screaming that Brock Lesnar is in he building.

Here comes the Pain.

Brock is very dejected. The W.W.E. title meant everything to him & he knows Eddy doesn't appreciate it. Figures Eddy will probably pawn it. Says he is a great U.S. citizen & a terrific guy and can't figure out why the fans treat him so bad. Brock want to settle the score with Goldberg. Brock gets on his knees & begs Vince, to give him a match with Bill Goldberg at W.M. 20 v Backstage Chavo Sr. is laid out. Angle tells Heyman these backstage attacks have been going on to long & have to stop. Says no matter what Heyman thinks Angle know it wasn't Eddy.

Angle is leaving. Heyman runs up to him & says he needs a ref. for the main event. Angle wants no part of it. Heyman says to bad, Angle is the ref.

Eddy Guerrero vs. Chavo Guerrero - W.W.E. Title Match Eddy hit a slingshot senton on Chavo...Eddy stretches Chavo across Eddy's back...Chavo hit a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker...Chavo did the 3 rolling vertical suplexs....Chavo went for a frogsplash but Eddy got his knees up...Chavo Sr. came out pointing his finger at Eddy....Eddy hits the rolling vertical suplexs....Eddy goes for frogsplash but Sr. pull Jr. out of the way...Rey Mysterio runs out & attacks Sr. Refs come out run Rey off, & carry Sr. away....Chavo works over Eddy's knee...Eddy uses a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on his bad knee....Eddy hits the frog splash but Angle won't count 3....Angle attacks Eddy...Angle throws him outside, drops him throat first across the barricade, whips him into the steps....back in the ring continues working Eddy over....Rey tries to make the save, but is powerbomed & press slammed over the top rope....Kurt grabs the belt & hits Eddy with it....

This probably won't air. Kurt had walked up the aisle but came back, continuing to work Eddy over. Eddy finally made a comeback with clothesline. Then hit Angle with the belt. Then frog splashed Angle.

Looks like quite the fun little show this week. I'm glad they turned Angle early so that they can really build animosity between him and Eddy in the lead up to WM.

The sight of Brock begging maybe's isn't the greatest way to make a monster of him pre-Goldberg but he's easily over and credible enough that it won't harm him.

Cena/Show's been a good slow burner since about SurSer time and should be fun to watch.

Now let the collective groaning about a potential APA/Too Cool Wrestlemania match up commence ;)

::groans about possible APA/Too Cool WM match::

SD looks pretty good, but Velocity looks to be sub-par, w/ only 1 really good sounding match (Rey/Kidman vs. Knoble/Nunzio).

Looks to be an awesome Smackdown. Can't wait to see the Eddie/Angle stuff.
As for the APA/Rikishi&Scotty stare down, I think they will go with a 3 way or 4 way at WMXX with the WGTT getting a shot at the belts at well. After all, they did just beat the APA at No Way Out.

and thats all i have to say about that!

Maybe we'll get a 4 way team elimination for the Smackdown tag straps. APA/Scotty & Rikishi/Bashams/WGTT ...

I am personally for aligning Haas and Benjamin with Angle again ... I thought that was one of the better stables WWE has had in a while.

Look at the match line-up, its garbage!
Hardcore Holly vs. Big Show, Billy Gunn vs. Tajiri...Thoose matches suck and theres only 4 matches on the whole card.

If anyone thinks Smackdown is better lets look at the matches from RAW and the matches from Smackdown....

On Smackdown we have:
Angle/Cena vs. Bashams

On RAW we have:
Tag Title match with Batista/Flair vs. RVD/Booker T

On Smackdown we have:
Hardcore Holly vs. Big Show

On RAW we have:
Chris Jericho vs. Kane

On Smackdown we have:
Gurrero vs. Chavo

On RAW we have:
Benoit vs. HBK

Now try to tell me one show is not ungodly better with a MUCH better roster. This Smackdown show looks like crap again this week. And Im really suprised at the lack of Sable/Torrie Playboy promotion. Theyre havent been on the show in months.

    On Smackdown we have:
    Angle/Cena vs. Bashams

    On RAW we have:
Tag Title match with Batista/Flair vs. RVD/Booker T

The Raw match sucked. The SD match should be better. Advantage: SD.

    On Smackdown we have:
    Hardcore Holly vs. Big Show

    On RAW we have:
    Chris Jericho vs. Kane

The Raw match was nothing. The SD match is a Big Show squash. Advantage: Push.

    On Smackdown we have:
    Gurrero vs. Chavo

    On RAW we have:
    Benoit vs. HBK

The Raw match was good, but a little disappointing. Eddy/Chavo should be good. Advantage: Have to wait.

I don't see the "OMG! RAW IS SOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER!!!111!" I'll take SD's roster over Raw's.

Ill tell you the main problem with Smackdown, and its very evident on this weeks show. SD will build someone up for weeks even months. Lets look at Zach Gowen feuding with main eventers, or Hardcore Holly getting a title shot at Royal Rumble. Hell, even Billy Gunn was hype for a big return at Rumble. But now look where they are....Gowen has been released, Holly is jobbing out to Show in a minute and Billy Gunn is jobbing to Tajiri. Thats the problem with Smackdown, they put all this time into building someone up and then a week later hes a jobber.

What exactly is the problem with these guys being jobbers or in Gowen's situation, gone? They built Holly up for the purpose they needed to use him for, Lesnar killed him at the Rumble, and now he's been kicked down the card. How is this different from what the Raw side has done with Booker T, RVD, Jericho, Kane, etc? Not to mention that Show is HUGE, by all means he should be killing people smaller than him.

Billy Gunn is Billy Gunn, and the best thing for the Fed to do with him is to find him a tag team partner. That's his niche. Gowen, well, he was just a sideshow, a novelty act.

Two angles on Raw and only one on Smackdown? Huh? I count Cena/Show advancement and Angle/Guerrero as two, right away. Plus, from the spoilers, you have potential set-up for APA/WGTT/Rikishi and Scotty being delivered. There's three for Smackdown right there.

I think he meant in that Jericho/Kane match alone.

I was only going by match quality, which is what TIO seemed to be indicating.

In that case, I'll revise this:

    On Smackdown we have:
    Gurrero vs. Chavo

    On RAW we have:
    Benoit vs. HBK

Advantage: SD. 2 angles (Rey/Chavo, Eddy/Angle) plus a heel turn, while Raw only had 1 angle (HHH/HBK/Benoit).

Out of curiousity...how does a squash differ from a simple loss?? Is it just the speed at which a wrestler loses that determines that or is it when an ME'er beats a jobber or what??

I am actually wanting to know the answer to this...I've wanted to use the word "squash" a couple of times in posts but had a feeling I wasn't quite up on my wrestling terminology!!

Cheers,

A squash is basically a match where one guy controls all the action, the other guy gets in no real offense, and usually ends fairly quickly (2 min or less).

Shit! Why the hell did they have to turn Angle? It wasn't necessary for the Wrestlemania match - it would have been so much better if they had saved it up and turned him post-Mania in order to justify the rematch they'll inevitably get after they rock MSG. Why can't we ever get a genuine face-face matchup?

Huh??? For the last 3 weeks they have dedicated an entire segment to the Torrie and Sable in Playboy deal. Plus, they've been running a storyline on RAW that is only there to help promote the Torrie and Sable in Playboy deal.

As for your point about Zach Gowen, I agree with you. That was stupid to put so much emphasis on him. He would have been a nice undercard story, kind of like Crash Holly getting attacked at arcades or the zoo while he was Hardcore Champion, but Zach never should have been around major feuds and major angles.

A "squash" just means that the loser of the match barely gets any offense, if any at all.

Seems like Kurt Angle as special guest referee now equals a heel turn. Wasn't Kurt Angle the guest referee when Brock Lesnar turned heel?
