Thank you, WW - your closed captioning gives me hours of...stuff.

FOOTAGE! of last week's contract signing, at least the Benoit and Shawn stuff.

Fighting evil by moonlight, winning love by daylight, never running from a real fight, because it is time to WAKE UP! It's Raw, live from Bakersfield, CA...and a Fashion Report, too! Happy Presidents' Day (or, as you Canadians call it, Monday); of course, all but bankers and federal/state employees worked.

HHH, in brownish-purple shirt (top two buttons undone), and black pants, the Heavyweight Title over his shoulder, comes to the ring to speak; he demands Bisch announce just who his WrestleMania opponent is. Out comes Bisch, in black suit and black shirt, to propose un-booking Shawn vs. Benoit in favor of HHH vs. One of Them. But HHH is too heelish for that. This brings out Benoit, in red tights with black slashes, to rough-up the champ. That lasts until the rest of Evolution comes out for the save.

In the back, Evolution rallies around HHH, who promises Benoit will get his before the night is out.

BookerT, in white hot-crotch, flamin' "BookerT" undies, and Rob, in green/yellow/black/blue singlet, vs. Batista, in black/bronze undies with snaking red flame, and Flair, in red "Nature Boy" robe with gold sequins and black "RF" undies, both wearing the Tag Titles, with Randy. Woah - JR called this the "Main Event". Mike Chioda wears the stripes of the referee. Man, there's some kind of audio buzzing - almost like a loud AC unit. Rob takes a dive to the outside; per his M.O., Adbreak runs-in.

Cont. The audio is fixed, and Rob is still taking a beating. Booker gits a disturbing suplex on Batista. Mick Foley is out, in the flannel, black Mankind tshirt, and black sweats, coming after Randy. So Mick, Randy, and Batista fight into the crowd. Back in the ring, Rob hits the 5-star and Booker gets the pin on Flair. New champs. An average match.
FOOTAGE! of FDR's "fear" speach.

JR, in grey sportscoat, black hat, white shirt and red tie, and Lawler, in black tshirt, show FOOTAGE! of Lesnar and Goldberg from last night. Nice to see Goldberg's shaved off the beard.

In the back, Austin and Bisch watch the FOOTAGE! in the Room of Fun. Bisch says he'll have HHH's opponent decided by the end of the night, in order to avoid Austin's wrath. In the hallway, Randy says he's gonna call-out Foley.

Meanwhile, Jericho laces up and Christian! comes by to tell Jericho to be careful in his match. Jericho asks Christian on Trish advice, and Christian plays the role of slick backstabber to the hilt (yeah, you can say I intended that pun).

Jericho, in black tights with blue leg lightning, vs. Kane, under the towell, in black tights with red stripes. Jack Doan is the referee, in stripes. Jericho sells the knee like nuts, eventually leading Doan to call the match. Post-match, Kane gets more licks in, before he rants against whoever is behind all the spooky goings-on (as 'Taker is dead, you see). As Kane leaves the ring, almost on cue, the lights go blue, the video plays, and Kane is rained on.

FOOTAGE! of Ronnie telling Gorbachov to "tear down this wall". Word!

Randy, in tan long-sleeved polo shirt and black slacks, the IC Title over his shoulder, is in the ring, calling-out Mick. Mick, in the same as before, does come out. Eventually Flair and Batista are out for the assist. Well, that beatdown just kept going on.

During the break, Mick got stretchered.

In his locker room, Shawn tapes up. Benoit comes in and utters some words. Meanwhile, in Bisch's Room of Fun, Stacie and Jackie complain that they didn't get to show their naked bodies in Playboy. Bisch ponders, but Austin barges in, taking the opportunity to pimp the "Monday Night Wars" DVD. Bisch talks crap about Vince, who just so happens to be standing right behind him. Vince books him vs. Bisch for next week. I smell channel-flipping!

FOOTAGE! of JFK's "ask not..." speach.

Trish, in sparkly red/black bodysuit and sparkly red/black trenchcoat, and Victoria, in yellow slight-shot top, hot pants, and arm-wraps with black trim, with Stevie, in black tshirt and fullcuts, vs. Molly, in black top and pants, carrying the Womens' Title, and Jazz, in sparkly white "see-my-boobs" top and skirt, with Teddy, in red suit and white shirt. Chad Patton is the official. Widow's peak -> pin. Post-match, Test comes out and destroys the faces, but Christian saves Trish.

In the back, Trish thanks Christian. They head-off to visit Jericho, but first Christian gives Trish Jericho's rose, claiming it's from him.

Hey, let's see the show-opening FOOTAGE! again.

Shawn, in black leather vest and chaps, studded in metal plates, and black "Shawn Michaels HBK" tights, vs. Adbreak, vs. Benoit, in the same as before. Hebner is the official. Michaels totally focuses on Benoit's neck. Michaels looks to be slightly heelish in his mannerisms. Benoit tosses Shawn over the top, and Adbreak decides to get his last spot of the night.

Cont. Benoit works-over Shawn's back. Then to a back-and-forth, with many near-double-countouts and near-falls. HHH comes down the ramp, distracting Benoit. Shawn with the superkick and a pin. A good match. Post-match, pedigree to Shawn.

Then Austin, in sleeveless black "F0CK FEAR" tshirt, cap and blue jeans, rides his four-wheeler down to announce the WrestleMania main event will be Shawn vs. HHH vs. Benoit.

Overall: A good show. The first hour seemed slow, and the beat-down seemed to go long, but the pace kept moving along and it all came together in the end.

THE RAIN THE RAIN FALLS MAINLY ON THE KANE OH BLUE MAN KANE THE MAIN REFRAIN BONG…Oh, sorry…

Good show. Decent buildup to the Triple Threat main at WM, a suprise to nobody. Somebody claimed Benoit was booked on RAW to make HHH look good. Benoit is making EVERYBODY look good.

That "audio buzzing" was an exhaust fan pulling out the pyro during the tag match. You could hear it shut down just before the break if you have the big surround sound. I'm not sure I'm any more interested in seeing Booker T and RVD as tag champs than I was Flair and Batista.

Did Batista look lost or what outside the ring with Foley and Orton during the tag match?

Does anybody SERIOUSLY believe Foley is through and won’t face Orton at Wrestlemania?

How unfair is it for Ross and Lawler to tell us how great the action was during the break, only to come back to a series of rest holds?

If Orton was heading right out to the ring to call out Foley, why did it take him like three segments to get there?

Raw Thoughts:

Man, Jack Tunney must be rolling in his grave with all this non-decision making by Bischoff....Nice opening segment, with Benoit doing little talking and a lot of fighting....good tag title match, and the win surprised me (yeah, me and my friends marked out for that). Putting RVD/Booker in a tag match at WM would be cool, but they don't have a lot of fresh options to fight....that odd noise during the match sounded like the ring was a bit loose, but what the hell do I know?....I called the "Christian takes Jericho's flower for Trish and passes it off as his own" as soon as I saw the flower. Yeah, it DOES make me feel like a big man....

Kane v.s Jericho was an excuse to further two feuds, and there wasn't much to it....I DID think Rock would help Foley during that beatdown (and what a LONG beatdown it was)....SHG: I don't think McMahon v.s Bischoff is next week. Just a big announcement by Vince (Bischof/Vince at WM?)....The women's tag match was okay. I must be colorblind, cuz Victoria's outfit looked lime green to me....That Test/Stevie feud is STILL going on?....A four-star main event, and I was suprised to see Michaels go over clean. Hm. I thought that match was to decide who would face Trips at WM.....Good RAW.

Indeed. Easily one of Victoria's hottest outfits. (Victoria's Secret?)

And count me in to the camp of people who thought the Foley beatdown dragged on for WAY too long.

Yeah the whole beatdown I was waiting for, "If Ya Smell!!!!"" If there going to make this a tag match at Mania Rock better show up soon.

This RAW was pretty weak compared to recent shows. The only thing I really liked was the main event. I think next week will be a way for Vince to insert himself into the Taker/Kane feud. He will proably announce Taker/Kane or Goldberg/Lesnar at Mania.

Pretty blah show, with really only 1 good match (Benoit/HBK).

--RVD/Booker vs Flair/Batista - pretty sloppy/loose match, esp. when RVD was in there. Pretty soft strikes and rope running by RVD. The last part of the match looked pretty stiff (Book's back suplex on Batista, Batista's kick to Book to break up the pin, RVD's strikes to Batista on the outside). Overall, not a very good match.

--Jericho/Kane - bad match, but really just an excuse to hype Kane/Taker and play up Jericho's injury.

--Foley beat-down - went on waaaaaaay too long. Pretty boring, IMO.

--women's tag match - pretty blah. Pretty odd that Trish tagged out, and Vicky finished, without Trish ever coming back in.

--HBK/Benoit - dragged in the beginning, but picked up at the end. Would have liked to see Benoit go over to keep him strong.

Overall, blah show.

This is how the WWE works:

HBK pins Benoit clean ---> HHH lays out HBK ---> HHH and Austin stare at each other to end the show.

This angle has been booked atrociously and has nothing going for it. Nothing. It will be decent as it is, but this is what we would expect from a Judgment Day PPV. Not Wrestlemania, let alone the huge 20th one, and its MAIN EVENT. It's time to give the ball to Guerrero and let him have the main event.

Every Mania main event must have an epic quality to it. It must either be a dream match, or it must be an up-and-coming wrestler overcoming the odds and cementing his status as a champion. Guerrero/Angle would have that. This, however, is a clusterfuck. It's not even as if this was Rock vs Hogan vs Austin or a match like that where a triple threat could be booked and everyone would ejaculate. It has a heel champion with tremendous go-away-heat, a questionably-over wrestler that they don't even know if they want to get behind, and a babyface legend past his prime who people like but don't want to see in the main event primarily for him to go up against someone they've seen him wrestle several PPVs over the past two years.

It's a disaster. I really hope they have something serious lined up for Mania, or not make this the main event...or else it'll be a disaster, plain and simple.

As much as I hatehatehatehatehatehatehatehatehated the finish to HBK/Benoit, I do have to say that this was one of the strongest all-around Raws in a long time.

The Benoit/HHH segment of the opening promo was exactly they needed to be doing to build the feud. Beating the shit out of eachother. Not talking. Beating.

I really like the idea of doing RVD/Booker/Foley vs. Evolution at Mania if that's the direction they're going, although JR talking about them having a one-on-one match during the beatdown might indicate otherwise. I liked the beatdown, although it was probably a couple minutes too long as it got reaaaally boring towards the end. Is it just me, or do RVD and Booker have some sort of weird chemistry that makes them enjoyable together? I seem to recall liking the Booker/RVD sections of last week's match and they looked okay as team this week.

Victoria was working the BOOTIE SHORTS~ and God bless the camera man for being UNAFRAID to bring us copious shots of Victoria's ass. So very very hot. The match itself played out like a tag match in Here Comes The Pain: Short heel advantage, tag, then face dominates until the finish.

I dug Benoit/HBK but it wasn't the epic match I think we were all hoping for. Benoit was FUCKING ON tonight, as he was stiff and intense as all fuck, but HBK didn't seem as up to it. The weird crowd didn't help, as they only got really hot down the stretch and I think they didn't know how to react to a lot of the stuff. The finish blew on several levels.

- Since when did the GM have to ask the Champion to defend his title on RAW? Yet another illogical plot point that doesn't fit with the way things are usually done. I guess I'm supposed to just ignore those huge holes in the story since it's all a work anyway, right?

- Speaking of HUGE holes in logic caused by lazy writing, Eric Bischoff must have hired the absolute worst lawyers to ever pass the Bar Exam if they can't immediately invalidate the contract Shawn Michaels signed last week.

- One of the stars of the night was Victoria's new wrestling gear. As Faarooq would say, "DAMN!!!"

- While on the subject of Victoria's outfit, when Victoria, Trish, Molly, and Lilian were in the ring before Jazz came out, I commented to my friends that all of the 4 ladies in the ring were hotter than the all 4 that are fighting over who is the hottest in the WWE and who should have been in Playboy. Obviously, that's just my opinion. I know many will disagree with that.

- They could have taken a commercial break during that Mick Foley beating and it still would have taken up too much time. That was a 5+ minute beating that could have been done just as well (actually better) in under 2 minutes.

- I liked the Christian and Trish stuff. Christian has got to be one of the all time greats when it comes to backstage skits.

- I thoroughly enjoyed the Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Benoit old school wrestling match. The only negative was that Shawn went over Benoit again. I realize they didn't actually have a match last week, but Shawn did go over Benoit last week also.

ARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I think the booking of the entire Benoit program, so far, has sucked. If they're going to bring him in as THE underdog threat, then they have to let him be a threat, but he keeps getting jobbed out to the Has-Been Kid and the Ball HHHog.

Triple Threat at WWXX? And guess who? The primadonnas again. Will those two ever give back? Will they ever let someone go over?

So sayeth Randy Stilton.

Adding Shawn Michaels to the Hunter/Benoit match has REALLY taken something away from the match. Hunter v. Benoit was something to get excited about at WrestleMania. However, Hunter v. Benoit v. Shawn just makes me go "Uggh, a three way?".

Even so, the Shawn v. Benoit match was great, even if the wrong guy went over.... again!

Stevie Richards on RAW, even in short doses, always makes me happy.

I'll take RVD/Booker over Flair/Batista as Tag Champs any day. According to Meltzer, the plan is still for Foley/Rock v. Orton/Batista. So, where does this leave RVD/Booker for 'Mania?

How come they couldn't have had SOMEONE try and help Foley during the beatdown? The thing just dragged on, and didn't even have a definitive end to pay it off. I was expecting Booker or RVD or Rock or SOMEONE!!!

I'm loving the slow-burning Jericho/Christian/Trish storyline. However, I have a feeling it'll get rushed now so they can get the Jericho/Christian match out for 'Mania.

They better not have Undertaker take one step from behind the curtain until WrestleMania.

Vince McMahon and Eric Bischoff next week? Two years ago, I'd be excited as hell. Now... not so much.

Unless Chris Benoit is defending the World Heavyweight Title against Shawn Michaels at Backlash, there was zero reason for Michaels to go over tonight. He doesn't need it.

That being said, the match was great and Benoit brought out some more intensity out of HBK then normal. I could have done without Shawn calling some spots right on camera, though.

There's one way to make it clear that you're a babyface now and that's wearing little yellow booty shorts!

I'm actually inrigued over Vince's announcement next week. Vince and Bischoff fighting is just begging for The Rock to return and ridicule both of them.

ZERO REASON? Come on. They were blowing off the storyline about whether HBK and HHH were in cahoots in screwing Benoit. I agree that Chris has not been shown in the best light, but it makes sense. He is seen as the underdog and Smackdown deserter who doesn't belong in the Clique feud. HHH as a heel shouldn't outwardly respect Benoit. HBK as a prideful man who feels screwed from the Rumble thinks that he should get the shot because of the injustice.

I have enjoyed the booking of this feud, and I think it will mean even more when Benoit presumably overcomes the odds and wins the World title at WM XX. So I understand the Benoit smarks' frustration, but I just can't buy into this level of disdain for the treatment of Chris on Raw so far. Plus, if there is a Benoit/Michaels rematch at Backlash, they can use this match as a backdrop for HBK to think that he has Benoit's number.

Oh...and Raw was good tonight.

Damn you WWE for making me change my sig. I'm sure you have good enough reasons to get rid of Shannon, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Let me thus be the first to say: BRING BACK DAFFNEY!

Does Triple H ever let anyone else get any heat? Not a minute into his opening rant, he calls Smackdown the bush leagues, almost making light of Guerrero's win. And then we get the great Benoit/Michaels match, only to have Michaels win become meaningless.

Oh, and your Molly report: Still smokin' hot. And wonderfully bouncy.

Ofcourse Benoit losing could be seen as "he isn't able to win the big one" when then at WM he does win it.

Ofcourse HHH again calling Smackdown the lesser brand only proves how good he (the character HHH) thinks himself to be. (Oh, and Paul heyman constantly saying SD, the superior brand! isn't the same deal btw?)

Ofcourse the workrate goes up by almost 100% by throwing HBK in the WM match.

Ofcourse I could be wrong...
Sounds like an interesting Raw.
